I have upgraded my std N73 to latest v3.0704.1.0.1 firmware. My previous problem of the clock alarm NOT working when phone is OFF disappeared. Confirmed that by trying out the alarm with my phone off for at least 4 times!!

Then I reinstalled my own apps :
1. F-Secure Mobile Security
2. Handy Keylock
3. Handy Taskman
4. Best Full Screen Caller

Now the alarm clock problem is BACK!! Does NOT work anymore again with my phone OFF... :(
Pls is it caused by any of the above Apps? If so, which one? Hate playing detective...
Any1 with same experience?

I think its from the F-secure Mobile Security, though i'm not sure.
i'll try now ;)

damaster, Mega tks 4yr quick response! *handshake* :)

I've been also informed by fmly mber that F-Secure is a strong suspect! He had probs using it b4 with N6600...
Will b anxiously awaiting yr confirmation.

ps. I've emailled F-Secure & they replied saying there is NO conflict with firmware but asked me to remove F-Secure to confirm. I've tried removal acc2 advice in their website but failed. Any advice? Tks in adv.

sure, i'll give you my result as soon as i get back my phone. (n73).
I took it for maintenance because the joystick has been broken.
Anyways, i get it back after almost an hour. ;)

Hi guy. I'm a newbie here & need help. I've updated my N73 yesterday. But i dunno wat version i have now. How do i check wat version i have? & after updating with the NSU, i try to start NSU again to see if i can update the new music edition. But now i can't seem to get NSU connected. I click on the NSU & it say starting application, but it hangs there for centuries

Tried installing NSU again & it seems that it can't detact my Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver. But my phone is connected to my Pc via the USB cable. Do u guys know wat could be the problem

i have 3.0705.1.0.31 dated 26-01-2007 and still a lot of bugs seems to be there like music plaver cannot be closed anymore u have to l kill it with taskmanager to remove it from constantly running in ram..and sms god it sucks if u have manny messages in ur inbox it starts hangind and also takes time to deliver n receive messages..no improvements in camera..installing aps is a bit faster only 1 good thing..and what headset do u all use and i feel music quality is not that good compared to the sony ericsoon phone..I have a headset that came along with the N 73ME functionality good but music quality not that good..No point calling it music edition if music quality is not good..

shinicy
28th February 2007, 09:58
if i am not wrong the music edition set itself doesn't play a big picture on the quality it is the quality of the headset itself that provide which is slightly better. and i believe the set should be slightly better than the normal n73? compared the sony ericsson which has a better speaker itself? hmm..

i am using V 3.0704.1.0.1 n73 i get lots of hanging like you too :/ not only with the inbox. but with the gallery as well :/ argg. and i am only using 1gb card. n series always have this problem eh? :/

I'm afraid that you must go to Nokia Center... or to re-write your firmware with special (external) devices.

UPDATE on above problem:

An Update for N73 Users...

I've been having the Clock Alarm problem ie it does NOT work when the HP is OFF!

I've been trying to find the cause...
EUREKA! I've got it!
It's a conflict with the Handy Taskman S/ware!!

Do NOT install Epocware's Handy Taskman if you need to use yr N73 Clock Alarm with yr phone switched OFF...

Phew! At last...me happy liao... :partyman:

ChromeX
11th March 2007, 18:50
Or just use Alarm Manager if you want to keep handy taskman

zeone
12th March 2007, 06:23
Yup, ChromeX...looks like that's one way to overcome prob if wanna keep Handy Taskman... :P
Me? Prefer phone to work as original as possible...Believe a phone should work as meant to be! :)
Good Supplementary S/ware should supplement...NOT change...functions of phone.
So, No Handy Taskman for me...haha... :D

pls help my contect bakup for my N73 !!!!!

Presuming that you asked how to backup your phonebook and other settings on N73, you have 2 ways (both working):
1. use nokia pc suite, make phone backup on pc (and restore when needed)
2. Just using the phone itself: go to Tools -> memory -> options -> backup phone memory; you will get a backup on SD of phome memory and can be restored completely after a firmware upgrade, for example.

Hope it helps.

Actually the v4 firmware brings all editions of N73 (the normal, music) to a common platform with same features. v4 firmware in ME introduces A2DP and AVRCP along with FOTA. Some minor changes are there (for example, there is an 'exit' option in music player. With that, I find there are some memory management issues solved. The RAM refreshes pretty well.

The problem faced is, the fone can be detected as a Mass storage on pc but fails to be detected as a USB port on pc. Hence i cannot access my pc suite and upgrade my firmware. Also the current firmware on my cell is cracked.
So is there a way where i can solve this problem??

Try going to tools and then data cable (or USB cable, dunno, I have Polish firmware). There you can select a mode. Select the first one (ask when connecting, or something like that). Should work after that. You probably have the default mode set to mass storage.

My N73 product code is 0539346, Firmware version 4.0736.3.2.1 dated 04-09-2007.

But NSU is unable to detect the Firmware version 4.0750.31.2.1 dated 15-12-2007 unless you change your product code to 0539343 with NSS?

And I've checked, 0539343's latest firmware is 4.0736.3.2.1 dated 04-09-2007, same version with that of 0539346.

Well, I'm a 4.808 user and I can't say I've noticed major differences or issues after transition from 4.736. I regret changing only because it was a waste of time... the supposed speed jump was nigh, and the mobile TV is useless for me. But at least I haven't encountered any issues with it. :D

can somebody please upload a screenshot of the text/font of the new firmware? (a written message or anything just to show the font)

v4.0812.4.0.1

an upload will be very much appreciated.

I am hesitant to upgrade to the new firmware as it might make the font of my N73 a bit thinner than the ordinary - specially, the new firmware is for APAC.

thanks.

maybe for the nokia search, setting wizard, fsecure installer, etc.

if you want to gain more space, you can hard reset your phone

yes... that's right. it still have some memory management problem. :afraid:

i wonder, why after i run java programs (ebuddy), using it, then closing it. my free ram shrinks from 16 mb to 8 mb. :forsaken:

then if i multitask with java application running, sometimes that java application closed.

i'm waiting for the 5.x version

@manishrewa no it's impossible... you should use pc suite synchronise to backup contacts and manually copy all of your files over to computer, if you use a file explorer you should copy all of the hidden files from C:drive over to computer, then you can use it to restore some settings for apps when you reinstall
