View Full Version : text to speech tomtom one is this possible topman96 7th December 2006, 16:52 hi guys jus read on another site some guy reckons he got a tomtom1 and copied some files from tt910 now he has text to speech is this true or is he pulling peoples legs and if so how can it be done KenBruce 8th December 2006, 00:30 Perfectly true. You need to obtain a copy of the TTS voices. They are in a directory called LoquendoTTS on a 910. You will also have to be running v6.15 programme software since the latest v6.52 prevents all non 910 machines using the voices. Drawback is that the voices take up a lot of space on an SD, 614mb for two voices of Kate and Simon. topman96 8th December 2006, 03:32 thanks for your reply do you know where it is possible to download the files and also is it possible to downgrade my tomtom back to 6.15 thanks KenBruce 8th December 2006, 10:18 'Fraid not. I don't know anywhere you can download these. It is possible to install v6.15 again just by replacing the appropriate files on your SD. If you used Home to upgrade to v6.52 you will probably be able to step back to v6.15. topman96 15th March 2007, 03:35 would it be anyway possible to get tts on tomtom one ver 2 if so what would we need thanks KenBruce 16th March 2007, 01:46 I've PM'd you topman96 topman96 21st March 2007, 01:57 has anybody got a data chk file for a tomtom 910 whats 6.5 or after thanks mrcinlondon 22nd March 2007, 13:53 Tried text to speech on SE P990i but didn't work, anyone know if possible? Got my TomTom One working ok but for some reason only finds the German computer voice as an option but I've only installed the English voices. Any idea where TomTom picks up this and what's the file called? Maybe try and fool TomTom by using the German computer voice option and have the English data in the German folder instead. Thanks jr260z 22nd March 2007, 21:47 Do you know where we can download the voice and data.chk files necessary for text to speech? Thanks. topman96 28th April 2007, 21:19 has any body managed yet to get text to speech on new tomtom one thanks Zibri 27th May 2007, 01:37 As I already said on another thread I am able to enable any option in any tomtom (not only 510 and 710). BUT I NEED a FULL GO 910 BACKUP to test if the voices work. Please provide me a backup. Read here: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=161645&page=2 Zibri 27th May 2007, 18:34 Come on... provide me a backup of a 910 if you want TTS on any tomtom :) pmorgent 10th November 2008, 12:21 I would say it is definitely possible. I have two tomtom one's.. One from Australia which has TTS built in from the factory and one from the UK which does not have it. I am trying to work out what the difference is so I can get TTS to work on the UK version. Both are the same version of software as best as I can tell and when I install the TTS files on the UK version it will not allow me to use the voice.. If anyone can suggeest what I need to do that would be appreciated. lessram 10th November 2008, 12:42 At what khz are TTS voices recorded ? TomTom One cannot handle 44.1khz audio, it freezes. They have to be 22khz to keep them working |
