View Full Version : Bluejacking
BlueM@ngo 7th December 2006, 19:12 hi guys,
just wanna ask you-I remember nice appz on my last P900 when I was bluejacking and bluejacking... hope you know what does it mean exactly... I also know the defence for this is now much better then it was and hijacking isn't as much possible, but don't you know about appz to do this?
mrgreaper 7th December 2006, 19:41 i think there is multiple ways to protect you self though the best defence is to just turn your bluetooth off (i know its anoying specialy when u have a bluetooth headset and bluetooth gps but theres quite a few people that use apps to bluejack your private files )
guess i really need to re-read posts before i reply, if your looking to actualy bluetooth people (you know break the law invade there privacy) i sincerly hope you get caught , mods surely this kind of app is against the rules ?
anybody looking to bluejack you are the reason i have to keep my bluetooth turned off the reason i cant use my bluetooth headset the reason my gps bluetooth attachement is still in its box, why am i so bitter? me and my now ex took some photos on our second date someone bluejacked them off my phone along with my contact list then uploaded the photos to the net and txted her the location pretending to be me (needless to say i`m single again)
anybody else looking at this to see defence my first point stands
pinksteady 7th December 2006, 20:03 so although I agree that Bluejacking peoples data is naughty, why is it any worse than stealing other people's software, like is done on the rest of this forum?!

This sounds very highly unlikely, you sure you didnt leave your phone lying around, a mate found it, sent the pics to his phone then upladed them to the net.
KiNG86 7th December 2006, 22:07 i don't think bluejack programs are THAT bad... i'd want one so i could mess around with my buddies but that's as far as i would go... maybe the original poster wanted it for that same reason
Rovers81 7th December 2006, 22:18 Like the other guys I keep my bluetooth switched off, except when transferring files, bluejacking in england is very rare, the most likely thing that happens if you leave bluetooth on is you could be sent an obscene/offensive message or picture.
azhtar 7th December 2006, 22:34 i thought that was called bluesnarfing, bluejacking is just like doing a prank call, where you send send data to your victim and laugh when he/she is pissed off trying to understand what happened, who's messanging them, and bluesnarfing is when you steal some data from your victim.
timball 7th December 2006, 22:35 I have a Nokia N73 and my niece has a SE K750i, she was meesing about with her bluetooth with me one day, I accepted a request for her to connect to my phone and within 5 minutes she was looking at all my images and playing my mp3's on her phone! I was gobsmacked!!
The moral is - don't accept a bluetooth request from an unknown source!!
Steves71 7th December 2006, 22:36 Bluejacking isnt harmfull at all theres nothing wrong with it. I think some people are getting Bluejacking and Bluesnarfing confused. As was said by Rover81 its nothing more that the sending of unwanted items to another phone, sometimes files but usually its just text.
Edit--- And azhtar beat me to it by 2mins, must learn to type quicker lol.
mrgreaper 8th December 2006, 04:26 ok have never heard the term bluesnarfing so perhaps i am muddling them
@Steves71 my mates are highly trust worthy plus there was no way i was going to show them the pictures me and my mates aint that "close" lol (dont take that as a flame btw it was a valid point you made)
@pinksteady hmm interesting point point i guess i view my pictures text messages and contacts as personal where as years of being able to back up software (i assume thats all we all use this site for) has made it seem perfectly normal maybe its just personal experience that has tempered my view of bluejacking/snarfing
