On more from Portugal!!
The Dakar Rally is arguably the toughest rally in the world. It's 2 weeks long and sees drivers race thousands of kilometers through war torn countries rife with corruption and lots of sand.
While I do enjoy the odd bit of rally driving through the drunk laden streets of Southend, I don't I'm cut out for a rally in Africa. For all the other would be rally drivers, EA will be launching the electronic version next week.
"Once again EA has demonstrated its commitment to bringing new and exciting properties to our portfolio," said Javier Ferreira, VP European Publishing, EA Mobile. "Dakar is one of the toughest, most exciting car rallies in the world and EA is bringing a slice of this action to gamers’ fingertips."
Through their mobile phones, players will storm through Lisbon, Morocco, the Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Senegal and eventually Dakar itself via two exciting game modes; Rally-Mode and Time-Trial Mode. In Rally-Mode endurance is what counts and is a mix of blinding speeds and technical dexterity that promises to be a thrilling and fun experience. Time-Trial mode is for adrenalin fuelled racers pushing themselves to the limit by revisiting previously unlocked levels to try and smash their personal bests.
It’s not all about putting the pedal to the metal however, as gamers will need to plan their strategy carefully to claim ultimate victory – the choice is theirs; brave the hazards of a shorter, more arduous route or take a longer one that offers less challenging conditions. Dakar 2007 has been designed specifically for mobile play and will facilitate frequent saving, which means the game will remember a players’ standing and will pick up from the last stage played when turned off.
