Functionality

Advanced Device Locks is a Symbian OS application for locking the phone or selected applications only, such as Messages, Pictures, Contacts, Video or any other. With Advanced Device Locks you can secure your phone by locking it up with a secret code up to 7 characters long.

Advanced Device Locks allows you to lock your phone automatically by choosing one of the following options:
Always - each time the phone is turned on, it asks for the unlock code.
When SIM Changed - the locks are on if the SIM card of the phone is changed.
Automatic lock - an automatic lock is switched on after a specified period of inactivity in minutes.
Protected applications - this option turns on the device locks if someone tries to access the protected applications.

With Advanced Device Locks you have the unique option to choose whether to lock the phone itself, to lock selected applications on it or to combine these two options and lock both the phone and certain applications.

The lock code can be changed very easily only with a few clicks.

Maybe you need to upgrade Python.v1.3.15 to v1.3.17 i.e. the lastest version, just a suggestion. I did exactly what you did on my n80ie and it worked and iam using Python.v1.3.17.

Yep! works a treat on my n80ie :)

I moved the original icon from 'my own' folder to the 'tools' folder so there only this new icon for adl in 'my own'...so no confusion between the two icons when ur trial runs out!

Did you read the posts? They clearly say you need to sign the launcher, then a link is provided that explains how to do so.

For all those who seem to be having problems getting this to work i.e. signing the needed files, security probs in execution.

It all works but you need to do some background reading and get up to speed with the procedures etc.

The tutorials you ask for and the answers to all your questions are in the forum but it just scattered amongst different threads and to write another tutorial here, will just be a duplicating what already on the forum elsewhere.

Trust me, do a search for example for the following terms within 'Symbian OS-9.1 Apps' -

- Python pack 1.1
- brute Tools
- signing
- TaskSpy

,read the threads that come up and also read posts by 'disabled' he's one of the top guns when it comes to brute force and python files from here -

...you will be ok with install this solution for adl and any & all the other current python solutions and the ones that will subsequently be released.

yes m8 .. i've already read all posts ... If i wouldn't sign the launcher i couldn't install on my phone. I've installed successfully but i've encountered the error when I want to execute the launcher .

I will retry , after I will make some changes .

no, it will not work like that - you need to have python installed and run the adl.py script. But before you can install python you need to sign it (new Symbian OS9.1 security measures), its not hard, just follow the instructions and u'll b fine.

Did u install the adl launcher to the phone memory or to memory card?

if u installed it to phone - recommended, then it should show up in the script list.

Anywayz, the python shell will only look for py files in these 2 locations -

c:\python

and

e:\python

so whatever method u use to get it there, memory card reader etc., make sure all scripts (.py) files are located in either folders as above.

Attached below is the adl.py file you need in any of these folders.

strange, for me in Step 4, Advance Device Lock gets launched when I run adl.py with 1500 days left. I'm using Python 1.3.17 Final

If you search this thread for a post by me, I wrote all the steps out to make it work. Most error messages are caused by a mistake in the "signing" step for python modules etc.

found a problem with this method of running ADL - after the initial trial ends(after 7 days), even though u can load it with 1500 days left with the Python script, the program wont autostart any longer :( - can someone test this just to make sure its not my phone?

marquk, I had the same problem. This got ADL working for me again:

1) Run the adl python script again
2) "Trial" ADL again
3) Within ADL, go to the code changing screen
4) Put the code into all three places (ie: OLD, NEW, New2)

Then the program started again and has been working ever since.

I find this program very useful so I'm tempted to buy it anyway.

ok now i figured it out... i tried to sign the adllauncher n signed it sucessfully. I send it to my phone now n installed adl n adl launcher. Now i can see the icon of adllauncher and advance device lock. But when i click to open adllauncher it says - "unable to execute the file due to security reasons" I then opened python n clicked on run script n selected c:\adl.py but nothing happened n it returned back to menu. Then i opened advance device lock but it say - "The trial version is limited for 7days"
Can someone plz explain how did they got 1500 days????

@damaster ..but why to sign python??? becoz there r already 2 versions of python for installation...one is selfsigned n other is unsigned. So i downloaded the selfsigned v1.3.17 of python n installed in my phone...so why need of signing again?

well, i think i read somewhere, that you need the signed version to let it work, i tried the self signed and it doesn't work, so i guess we need the other one. I tried signind it, but too complicated. If you knew how to sign the python, i would appreciate any help ;)

adl doesn't register when i run crack with python. when launching adl.py it says that I have 13.... days trial. but when I launch ADL it says trial time is over !:( waiting for better cracked version or solution to this

Hi all, just to share my method I,ve tried. Just remember the date you install this program. After trial end, change your phone date to the date you,ve install . You,ll able to access the app function. In case you off/on your phone, the app. will not function after reboot. Do the same , change the date, activate the app. It totally workable. Then i tried to sign it n successfully signed it. I sent it to phone n installed it. Now i can see the Adl launcher icon. When i clicked on advance device lock it says the same - "This trial version is limited for 7 days" N if i click on python n go to run script n select as before - "c:adl.py"
..it returns back to menu and nothing happens.
So here now should i sign the python app as well?? If so then which version - "v1.3.17 or v1.3.18" and also which file - "python selfsigned or python unsigned" ????? OR should i wait for Adl trial to completely get over???

After my trial expired, I'm able to re-activate ADL but it doesn't survive a phone off/on. I've tried reactivating it many times again via python and the protection works only until I power cycle the phone. It doesn't autostart, or at least not properly.

Autostart may not work. But still i have no tested autostart as still i have 2 days left of trial. Can check after dat.

While you are still under trial, can you try turning off your phone and back on?

I disagree...yes autostart doesnt work but it still useful, just make sure you have your pin enable on the phone re the sim card and once you power the phone back on, you then go ahead and use the adl.py to lock the device ;)

Yes that's true. Ironically my main reason for using ADL was to avoid having to use the power-on password.

I'm pretty sure this app is only about $10 and if the "real" app works with Autostart, I'm gonna buy it to avoid these hurdles. But someone also mentioned in the Phone Guardian thread that version 2.0 might have similar features (application blocking) so I was waiting to see that one too.

if you BADLY need this app, you might as well buy it - there has been many threads already talking about the whole python thing, and the whole signing thing which you need before you can even use Python as Python needs to be signed ... (must be at least 10 threads about this in the forum)

Running great on my N73...days to try 13574...thanks for this application...the method i install...first i signed ADL and installed ADL in phone memory and ADL launcher (but i dont see the ADL launcher icon) after the normal 7 days trial period over then i signed both Python v.3.18 and Python script shell v.3.18 and installed in memory card..then i opened python run script C:adl.py...wow days to try 13574...
