You will have maps for free. But if you want direct to directions you have to pay (navigator).
DavdeMars 9th February 2007, 20:13 and tomtom will stay the best
_dIGIMAN_ 9th February 2007, 23:34 Hope it will somehow replace tomtom citymaps,
which i really miss since the switch from 2nd to 3rd edition.
Route66 or TomTom Mobile is no replacement, if u want a quick walking guide through city. Route66 for example blocks quite a while when no gps found and i dont want 300MB and up, just for a citymap.
Ofcourse i use them too for navigation but the apps had totally diffrent purposes.
mobo 10th February 2007, 03:41 I downloaded the app and i didnt find Greece. Wtf?
marquk 10th February 2007, 14:34 Once I upload a map hoe do I view it? where can I find the Map application?

Once I upload a map hoe do I view it? where can I find the Map application?
i think you need a map viewer installed on your phone but still "comming soon"
leftezi 10th February 2007, 15:00 coming soon = 10 February
Where have you read this?
Is that for shure?
It is allready Sat 10 Feb and the "Maps" application for the phone is not accessible . (not the map loader)
On the smart2go FAQ it is written that Greece is in (map and navigation) but in the maploader, there is not Greece. Someone knows why?
marquk 10th February 2007, 15:35 i think you need a map viewer installed on your phone but still "comming soon"
ah ok, so no point loading the maps into the phone yet then... thanks for clearing that up.

UltraHAHA 16th February 2007, 06:08 Anyone managed to solve this internet connection error problem?
More details of the problem:
MapLoader
The connection to the map server has been interrupted. Please make sure that your Internet connection is working and retry. If you still cannot download, please try again later.
Basically i have shut down both my firewall. Unless this program requires port forwarding in my router, if not, i don't see what's blocking the traffic
Anyway, i only installed maploader, did not install the sis on my phone yet. Is this the problem?

Maybe your PROXY settings? Try running with SockCap32
And a REQUEST --- can someone post their directory structure on the miniSD card with some downloaded maps? I don't have a miniSD card with me and would like to install a map of Ireland onto the phone memory so I need to create these directories first to fool the MapLoader application into thinking I have a memory card since I only have my PSP with me (which has a MemStick card)...
wza 26th February 2007, 19:21 Maybe your PROXY settings? Try running with SockCap32

Whats SockCap32 do?

I can guide you through this if you want, maybe you could then help me with some files? Just give me a shout on ICQ or PM me .. my icq no. is 28 288 1863. SocksCap makes the SW use the proxy/socks server that your ISP requires you to use.. it's great for programs that don't have socks/proxy support built-in ;) such as this one obviously
zerosynergie 27th February 2007, 06:20 my works...not entirely cuz every time i download any maps it just gets stuck at 98.8% then it hangs there. any of u experienced this?

Yay I solved the problem :)
SocksCap32 didnt help.
Even though I use FireFox for my default browser, I figured out that MapLoader was using the proxy settings from Internet Explorer.
I dont use any proxy settings, but I found out that I can use "proxy.singnet.com.sg 8080" with my ISP here in Singapore (SingNet).
After entering the proxy address/port into IE, my Nokia MapLoader works :D
I plugged my phone into the USB cable and selected "mass storage" mode. Added a map and clicked download. Downloaded fine, but I dont know where it stores the maps on the phone. It seemed to have installed it to my phone memory instead of my memory card :|
FYI: Anyone looking for middle-east maps, they are listed under "asia".
FYI: The Nokia MapLoader software works from Windows 2000, even though the download site says you require Windows XP.
wza 27th February 2007, 08:40 Question: Now that I have the Singapore map downloaded, why do I still need the network connected in order to navigate the map? :|
Doesnt that defy the whole purpose of downloading the map?
inno72 27th February 2007, 16:08 I install maploader in my PC, but when I open it and search for map of Greece there is no map, although when I connect to the internet with my N73 I can have data for Athens.
Do you know anyone if I can find anywhere the map of Athens to download in my memory card.
thanks

@ athalia, you can access the proxy settings by opening internet explorer > tools > internet options > connections > for me i'm in a lan so i click "lan settings", you can play around the settings there and add the proxy wza suggested. :)
wza 28th February 2007, 06:39 damaster: Middle East maps are listed under "asia".
Athalia: ISP = Internet Service Provider (mines SingNet)
Load internet explorer, tools > internet options > connections > lan settings
Under 'proxy server' (for SingNet) enter:
address: proxy.singnet.com.sg
port: 8080
If youre using SCV, you'll have to find out for yourself :P
(all I did was a google for "singnet proxy settings" and I found out).

Of course. You need GPS module (receiver).
xxadonisxx 24th March 2007, 04:55 what the heck! i installed philippine map using the map uploader software and what do i get to see? a lousy incomplete set of road maps with no details whatsoever of hospitals, schools, and others... eventhough i checked the choices in the categories option they don't just show up.. does this mean that philippine gps system is not yet properly organized... well bye bye nokia n95, seems i'll stick with my n80 after all :)

What has Nokia to do with this?
You should complain with the mapping companies (TelaAtlas and/or Navteq) for not mapping properly your Country.

I am residing in Singapore. I used the GPS navigation device. It is able to detect my position correctly and calculate the route I am going. However when I want to start nagivation, it will prompt me an error mentioning that "The navigation upgrade is not available in your region." I don't understand what it means. In addition I could not download the voice commands too. Anyone has the same problem?

candymut 21st April 2007, 06:11 well i will try this app but tomtom is cost free so if you do not have a data contract included with your contract this will cost a lot to have voice guidence and this app reminds me of another app orange use in the uk and that is the same and you need a data connection (gprs) and in the uk its no cheap..so once more...tomtom is cost free..i have the app loaded on the n73 but no maps so it is compatible with all 9.1nokia handsets i think

Staba-san 20th May 2007, 13:45 To get rid of the slow connection and get faster Map dowloading-times:
Maploader uses IE's proxy etc. settings so If You use Firefox; be sure to update Your IE LAN-settings and check that IE then functions smootlhy. Worked for me; I was donloading 500kb/hour (Yes, really) last night - now after the change its's 30gb/hour - much more acceptable

tsaigao 3rd June 2007, 03:51 i've got two questions:
first, i've downloaded the alberta, canada and united kingdom maps. on the uploader it says they are 10 and 90mb respectively. but after they are done, the free space on my 2gb memory card drops from 757mb free to 507mb free. is this normal, or is something wrong with my card because i don't understand where the other 150mb free has gone.
and second, what do the maps that you download provide. i have no problem navigating around my hometown of edmonton without having downloading the alberta map, and i had no problem mapping out where i want to go in england without having downloaded any maps so what's the point of having to download> just curious
thanx
aristotelhs2060 3rd June 2007, 15:35 is there any way to download maps as files and then put them in memory card using it as usb?

hi all,
I am using a N95. I have downloaded the singapore map and also bought a 3 years navigation subscription. But i can't seem to get my internal gps working! How do i turn on the internal gps? Is it automatic?
currently in my 'settings' option of smart2go, the "use network" option is set to 'Never". Is this correct? There is only another option which is 'when needed' but this will force the N95 to use the wireless lan connection instead.
did i miss something here?
