Python for S60 brings the power and productivity of the Python programming language to the S60 platform. The tools enable rapid application development and prototyping, and the ability to create stand-alone S60 applications written in Python.

The device installation package includes the Python interpreter (based on Python 2.2.2), select Python Standard Libraries, a script shell for launching Python scripts, a variety of native extensions, and a Python Console for interactive development. Python for S60 can also be added to S60 SDK's for PC-based development, testing, and creating application installers.

selfsigned is simpler to use for all people : install it like other sis package !

unsigned is more difficult because you can not use it like a sis package ! You have to signed it with a developer certificate. After many steps (search at forum about "Gnubox") you can use it like a sis package.
the unsigned file allow more thing to do than selfsigned because selfsign has 5 capabilities and unsigned allow you to use 13 capabilities !
With unsigned you use more functionalities in Python : key capture , simulate keypress , access to messaging , device location etc.

I hope that these lines can help you to understand the differenc between both files

Very useful cyke64, thanks a lot.

Anyway, I tried both (it was before cyke64 explained it all).

None of them is working on my E60, I got the certificate error (as for most of the applications I downloaded). Any clue about what I should do?
