There is a tutorial about installing fonts but I think the poster should at least give a link to it if not posting it.

Have a quick search and you will find your answer people ;)

sundayface
3rd March 2007, 22:23
To install the fonts:

(without card reader)
1. connect your phone via mass storage
2. open "resource" folder on memory card
3. create "fonts" folder
4. copy the files into that folder
5. restart your phone

note: you cannot access mass storage if you have fonts installed, to
change/remove the fonts:

1. turn off your phone
2. remove memory card
3. turn on your phone and wait for it until it goes on standby
4. insert memory card
5. wait for a minute
6. connect your data cable and choose mass storage
7. open the "fonts" folder
7. delete or replace the set of fonts
8. restart

Try a search mate as there is a fuller tutorial about this. I think you have to rename the files to something, whatever font you install but don't know it hence the search ;)

TO kannan_23 :
extract your sis font with software named "unsis". then put them to \resource\fonts directory. search it

TO Dansco & Mr G :
download the file, extract then click twice at the font. u will see the complete screenshot

FOR PEOPLE YOU HAVE AN N80
Just rename the fonts as mentioned below and enjoy them on your n80 :)

1. nosnr60 to aSans
2. nssb60 to aSansSB
3. nstsb60 to aSansTSB

If there are any other files then just delete them. After renaming them access your memory card and place the newly renamed fonts in e:\resources\fonts and then restart your phone and enjoy the themes. :)

it is obvious that one method work for some but not for others. For instance, putting the 3 .ttf files to the font folder dont work for me as I have APAC region. My font extention are .ccc. Instead I rename all the fonts given here as follow:
( Rename: nonsnr60.ttf to S60SC.ccc, nssb60.ttf to S60TCHK.ccc, nstsb60.ttf to S60ZDIGI.ttf )

I can even created any font download from internet.

this is an example

Hey im glad the font worked for you. I dont have the comic slim font files. If you have it then please send it to me and i will convert them for your phone.

You can make any font for your phone. just rename them to the following

nosnr60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 Regular
nssb60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 SemiBold
nstsb60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 TitleSmBd S60

Just open the ttf font file and see what written eg (true Type) or (Bold True Type) and then just rename them and place them in your phone and restart it and enjoy the new font. Try it out and if you face any problems then just let me know. I'll guide you. :)

Well you have renamed them correctly but there is one difference between your fonts and mine. yours are open type and mine is true type. I dont know if that makes any difference but all the fonts that I have are all true type. maybe that the problem. See the picture below. Also did you remove your memory card when your phone was on coz whenever i remove the memory card when the phone is on then even i get those damn blocks. :) so try to switch off your cell and then put in your fonts. Also try with a different font which is true type and see if it makes a difference. Even I'll try with another open type if I have one. :)

hi, got a question,
I originally have my N73 APAC version.Which can display chinese character
But the english font looks not smooth and a bit bigger than the normal N73,

So i upgrade it to EMEA N73 and now the english font looks much more better but i lose the abilitty to read chinese character :(

So i came across this thread and wondering ,
can i copy my orinigal font from my currently EMEA N73

then upgrade my phone back to APAC version and then transfer back the original font from the N73 EMA to the APAC one.

can i do that ?

Will it display the english font smoothly and shows chinese character at the same time ??

thank you very much.

Ok here is what you have to do.

use a file explorer then goto z:/resource/fonts and copy them on your computer by sending them via bluetooth or something. Then download the fonts that you want to install on your phone. Now open your original fonts one by one and note which one is regular, semi bold, and titlesmbd. One open the fonts that you downloaded one by one and then make a note of which one is what i.e. regular, semi bold, and titlesmbd and then just rename the fonts that you downloaded to the original names. Once all this is done then transfer the new fonts to e:\resource\fonts and then restart your phone and enjoy the new fonts. Lemme know if it worked for you.. :) Enjoy !!

to return to normal font display, just turn off your phone remove your memory card and turn on the phone, wait until it starts and when it does insert the memory card, once the memory card is in place conect the phone to your pc in mass storage mode and delete the gil sans font from the "resources" folder.

It seems font renaming trick works on other phones as well :) I'm using 5 different fonts on my N70 at the same time (See below).It should work on N73 as well,I guess...Here I'm posting the font pack I've just made (click on preview images below).Someone test it on his N73 and let us know about the result please.

Fonts used :
* Desyre (1)
* Nokia Sans Semibold (2)
* Zekton Bold Italic (3)
* Verdana Bold Italic (4)
* Nokia Sans Title Semibold (5)

Btw the fonts on number 2 and number 5 are not the same fonts,Number 2 is Nokia Sans Semibold and number 5 is Nokia Sans Title Semibold which looks like the font on number 2 but is smaller than it (and looks much better on SMS screen and sub-menus!)

We cannot do that..because it's N70, and it's different from N73!!
N70 [S60 v.2] uses .gdr fonts, while N73 [S60 v.3] uses .ttf fonts.
See the difference?

All the fonts on the preview pictures are TTF fonts (not GDR).So N70 can use TTF fonts as well.Just like N73 I can use only one TTF (that's why I thought it might work on N73 too) but it's more fun to use 5 of them at the same time :) So they are not GDR fonts ...

it is obvious that one method work for some but not for others.

I can even created any font download from internet.

this is an example

this quote is from page 4 and the pic is there

it's fruitless when i was trying to install fonts in my 7610 years back, i suspected is that our version in asia ( im from singapore ) the so called APAC region. we are unable to install most of the fonts which is posted here.

Probably is to try renaming like kangmas's method, but make sure backing up the original font from Z with file manager.
but the prob is could it able to show the native langauge as well like chinese etc....
if anyone had success in using fonts not meant for APAC region by renaming, pls share the experience, im sure there's a lot of us appreciating :ilove:

You can make any font for your phone. just rename them to the following

nosnr60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 Regular
nssb60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 SemiBold
nstsb60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 TitleSmBd S60

Just open the ttf font file and see what written eg (true Type) or (Bold True Type) and then just rename them and place them in your phone and restart it and enjoy the new font. Try it out and if you face any problems then just let me know. I'll guide you. :)

In regard to this - my font is (True Type) then what should I rename it and copy into my phone and there are always three file when copying into the phone but when copying from the Windows Original Font Directory you can just copy one file with .ttf so kindly explain in detail. Thanks

Just rename it as its said in the tutorial and it'll work. Some phones need a different method usually its coz of the firmware version. so if

nosnr60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 Regular
nssb60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 SemiBold
nstsb60.ttf = Nokia Sans S60 TitleSmBd S60

doesnt work then remane the files with .ccc

eg

nosnr60.ccc = Nokia Sans S60 Regular

try it out. :)

Erica, first of all, are your phone APAC region.(with chinese character?) You need to check your phone original font files. Use phone explorer, such as Y-Browser. Go to Z\resource\fonts and check the font files inside. If its APAC, you will see three fonts. S60SC.ccc, S60TCHK.ccc, S60ZDIGI.ttf. Then create fonts folder at E\resource\fonts. Place all the new fonts, rename them exactly like your original ones. Reboot and you're done.

for anybody that own nokia 6110 navigator, you can use this type of format to change your phone's font.
Make a 3 copy of to font you want to use and rename it as below:

Put in your memory card folder.

After that restart your phone and you will see the new font.

To install the fonts:

(without card reader)
1. connect your phone via mass storage
2. open "resource" folder on memory card
3. create "fonts" folder
4. copy the files into that folder
5. restart your phone

note: you cannot access mass storage if you have fonts installed, to
change/remove the fonts:

1. turn off your phone
2. remove memory card
3. turn on your phone and wait for it until it goes on standby
4. insert memory card
5. wait for a minute
6. connect your data cable and choose mass storage
7. open the "fonts" folder
7. delete or replace the set of fonts
8. restart

I connected my N73 with PC Suite but folder "resource" is not visible, I also tried to create folder Fonts using Y-Browser but I got error: " Can not create folder, ErrNo: -46"

Can anyone help ?
Thanks in advance

Brother

I want to install a particular font which is in my windows xp fonts folder to my n73. I want to ask whether it is necessary to rename the font? Will the size of font be resized when put into fonts folder of n73? Can i put only 1 font inside the fonts folder? Please suggest.
