Utopia City

In 2091, the people of the small town of Postville became the center of an immense, unprecedented experiment. Utopia, a parallel virtual environment of the real world, was created for them. It was designed to grow and exist independently of the real world. The people (or rather their thoughts, knowledge, imagination and feelings) became part of this new virtual world, allowing its central server, the Mastermind, to develop and prosper.

Utopia became a purgatory for its people as it promised to grant them the ability to create their own paradise. In exchange, the Mastermind was allowed to freely scan each person's emotions, thoughts and feelings. The experiment turned out to be such a success that the Mastermind offered Utopian citizenship to the rest of the non-virtual world. Over time, the experience of Utopia became so popular that its inhabitants eventually outnumbered those remaining in the real world. Thousands of Utopia's users refused to exit the virtual world. Hoping to gain immortality each inhabitant sought to become a digital god and create his or her own paradise. The physical world fell apart in their absence.

The deterioration of the physical world prompted the government to establish the Department of Anti-Utopian Affairs (AUA), created for the sole purpose of sending elite teams of agents, called Removers, to Utopia. It is only possible to extract a person from Utopia at the moment of his or her virtual death. The agents' missions were to disconnect the victims caught in the virtual web and destroy the Mastermind. Unfortunately, at this time all the agents have vanished into Utopia and are not expected to return. Even those who remained devoted to their duty have experienced no security and have failed in their mission to destroy the Mastermind.

The players have a choice: they may conform to the ways of Utopia and abide by its laws; or, if they figure out how to free themselves, they can attempt to destroy the Mastermind and rescue the other hostages trapped in the great virtual dream.

WoW: The Burning Crusade

The Burning Crusade, should you be wondering, is that of Sargeras, the Destroyer of Worlds. His plan to kill everything in the universe - which seems a little much - has reached Azeroth's planal borders, and everyone's efforts would appear to be needed to prevent this.

The two new races are the Blood Elves, and the Dranei, each existing in a pleasing contradiction. The Dranei are a group of an alien race called the Eredar, who fled when Sargeras attempted to subvert the magical species to his own evil ends. After an attempt to live on a planet with some peaceful Orcs, the pursuing forces of Sargeras's Burning Legion corrupted the Orcs, leading to a war from which the Dranei had to run. Crashing on Azeroth (thanks to those naughty Blood Elves), the remnants of the species are a withered and broken form of their previous selves, but still determined to fight for the forces of Light. Early Dranei quests have you dashing about trying to fix the mess they're inadvertently making, uncorrupting creatures, and generally being kindly. Which of course requires that you kill ten of this, and eight of that, but the quest instructions justify it away.

PES 6 will once again feature the graphical and gameplay tweaks that enable each new title to play completely differently from previous incarnations. The shooting system has been the subject of extensive retouching, now enabling players to pull off much more accurate snap shots as well as being able to exert a much larger feeling of control when going for quick half volleys or difficult full volleys.

The intelligence of players has seen a marked improvement. For example, players now make more realistic runs into space, often pointing where they would like the ball played. The physical aspect has also been beefed up, with strikers using their sheer presence to turn defenders and likewise, the defenders stepping a yard away to enable them to force players away from goal and not letting them spin into dangerous positions.

PES 6 also has a number of new teams licensed for inclusion, with the International roster now featuring the official kits for Argentina, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Sweden. New gameplay modes have been added and features like the much loved Master League mode also returns, together with a host of new tricks, feints and animations that can be used to bamboozle your opposition.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

On the afternoon of April 12 in 2006, a massive explosion shattered the Chernobyl area. The Zone, as the area got to be known, was characterized by anomalous energy disturbances, rendering even the most advanced form of protective suits worthless to would be rescue teams. Months passed and nothing could be done. The military quarantined the area to prevent unauthorized entry and perhaps even reassure the local populace that the area was under control and confinement. Almost 4 years after the initial event, expeditions can now safely traverse several kilometers deep into the Zone. Among these are the Stalkers, poachers that enter the zone searching for artifacts and anomalous formations that are highly sought after by certain organizations and groups. The player controls a Stalker, venturing into the Zone in order to acquire information, technology and artifacts to sell and possibly put a mysterious puzzle together. Avoiding the dangers within and the military because as a Stalker you are effectively a thief, and the army that has quarantined the area, don't take kindly to trespassers. Within the Zone you will have to detect and avoid the bizarre phenomenon's (anomalies) that plague the area, avoid or eliminate various kinds of mutants and you can even expect competition from other Stalkers.

The story of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a hypothesis based on real events that took place in the 1980s. During this time, a huge antenna was built in Chernobyl to emit radio-waves some experts believed were psychoactive. Some of our photos taken during the trip to Chernobyl captured the structure of the antenna far away on the horizon. According to several unsubstantiated rumours, the emission was directed into Western Europe – and that it was indeed a covert military experiment to determine the psychotropic impact on the human psyche. These rumours have been loosely proven and are the kind of experiments that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. storyline is built around. We touch upon fact, fiction and conspiracy theory, where the lines are blurred, presenting a credible less salubrious undercurrent. It is the story of a post-apocalyptic world littered with its own tragedies, heroes and laws - a ‘what if’ scenario loosely rooted in reality. More poignantly it represents a disturbing window into a future that could still grace this earth.

In 2006, a second explosion occurs at Chernobyl, followed by strange occurrences - flashes of bright light, raucous thunder, lighting, earthquakes – all coming from the hub of the exclusion zone. While common belief is ‘the reactor has exploded again’, nobody knows for sure. Scientists who go in to research the occurrences disappear without trace, as do their followers. Clearly, the exclusion zone becomes a dangerous place. Witnesses report spots of ‘invisible’ deadly energy consuming the area. Ultimately, the government, given little alternative, cordon off the area and seal it from intrusion until a solution is found. As time passes, the Zone continues to be active and even grows by several kilometers in size.

In 2008 eerie mutant creatures appear at the borders of the Zone, with the army, driven by fear, forcing their retreat through firepower. At the same time, curiosity among civilians in the area grows as they become more intrigued by the occurrences, myths and rumour that pervade within the Zone. Some of the more courageous decide to venture into the Zone, sneaking through the army cordons. Many die, but those who manage to return bring back not only unbelievable stories, but also ‘artefacts’ (bearings of the Zone - objects which have absorbed its anomalous energy), which instantly command a high price from curious scientists, corporations and the like.

Since then, more and more have tried their luck in the Zone. Those who go into the Zone in search of artifacts and fortune soon pick up the moniker of ‘stalkers’.

The game begins in 2012 as you, the player, is found comatose in the Zone after a brutal crash. You appear to be one of the stalkers, but have lost all memory of your past.

You wind up on the desk of a zone dealer. In an effort to repay the dealer (of arms and valuable artifacts) who helps you recover, you will need to complete several missions, taking your first steps into the Zone.

The U.S. Army has received a distress signal from Area 51 where a viral outbreak has just shut down the research facility and the automated quarantine procedures have locked all scientific and military personnel inside.

A small Special Forces unit led Specialist Ethan Cole of HAZMAT (hazardous materials) Division is sent to investigate. As Cole, players will delve into five massive levels within the confines of Area 51, discover a mutagenic side effect of the virus that controls the minds of those infected, as well as an ancient alien colony buried beneath the facility. With a multitude of human and alien weapons, players must explore chilling conspiracies such as the extraterrestrial crash at Roswell and the faked lunar landing, in order to solve the enigmas of Area 51 before the viral mutagen is released and irrevocably mutates all life on earth.

Red Ocean
is a first-person action game, that combines innovative shooter gameplay with unique underwater elements. SilverFall

The inhabitants of Nelwe mastered magic since the oldest times of antiquity. Their elementalists, warrior magicians and necromancers learned to draw from the very essence of the universe the power which enabled them to shape the world to their will. Thankful for this, the Nelwëans deified the four elements in a quartet of dragons: Aefis, the king of the air who commands the sylphs, Frakkir, the sultan of the volcano palace where the salamanders live; Elugh, the lord of the depths and the only lover of all the sirens; Toghon, the emperor of the titans who live in the bowels of the earth.

From their interplay and their unions were born the world and the creatures that inhabit it. Myths tell of the goblins who, with their aptitude for iron-work, descended from Frakkir. The humans, malleable like clay, would become the children of Toghon. Aefis would be the grandmother of the fleet-footed elves while the grey-skinned trolls would be born in the depths of the lakes created by Elugh.

Each race, each country and even certain cities have their pantheon of gods or patron saints, occasionally numerous ones (like the warrior trolls of Cloudworks, who systematically canonise dead fighters who are 30 years of age or older), but none of them know the universal radiance of the Four Dragons.

Previously each city had its own elementalist temple. There they venerated the demiurgic quartet, but they also taught magic to those who had the talent. The most gifted among the elves would become elementalists, the elite among both the intellectual and the religious of Nelwe.

But times have changed. Today there are no more than two elementalist temples: one at Silverfall, the capitol of the enlightened kingdom of Egreďd, and the other in the magical city of Blazis, on the volcanic isle of Forge.

The scientist revolution
With time, the technology of the people improved and increasingly useful and more powerful inventions came to ease the load of the peasants. The invention of the steam boiler by the goblin master craftsman Oplimous in 585 of the second Magma Era set off a veritable industrial revolution, creating a new form of serfdom. The workers do not have a better life than the day labourers of old. The governments, in contrast, have seen their commercial and military power increase ten-fold by the new means of production.
Whether by political will or due to lack of resources, all the peoples of Nelwe have not yet attained the same level of industrial power. Some voices, often labelled as "retrograde" by the progressive lobbyists, rise up to defend ancient traditions. The evolution of the societies has a tendency to leave behind the elementary tradition, and very often it is the priests who advocate reasoned progress and even the categorical refusal of all science.

The savage way and the return to nature
In 658 of the second Magma Era a terrorist movement appeared named the Surveyors of the Savage Way. Founded by an illuminated elf by the name of Falael the Prophet who said that he had been entrusted with a divine mission, it quickly made disciples in all Nelwe. Burning the coal warehouses and assassinating the industrial barons, the followers of savagery within a few years resembled a veritable nation of outcasts of progress.
Allied with the Beast-men, Falael founded in 672 - on the ruins of the scientist duchy of Steelight - the Savage League, a territory where only natural law rules. Under the leadership of the druids, the population of the League worship the Mother of the Woods (the horned woman/ woman of the forests), deifying nature.
