View Full Version : Screen Resize

Some games from by Living Mobile, Digital Chocolate and others work fullscreen on my J2ME emulator without a problem.

But my k610i is incapable of forcing 176x220 resolution (yes, through the screen size menu in the options when viewing the java games). Whenever I choose 176x220 as native resolution it jumps right to "preset/default" and the game starts as 176x208.

However, if you buy a game from those publishers you'll see that even the icon is in 24x24 (s60 standart) but the game runs in 176x220.

I know there is a app, widely used amongst motorola users, to resize the game view, however I failed to find such an application.

Having seen the great work Antone Samy is doing (s60 section) in resizing games, my questions are:

. Is the resolution a command in the Jad file (commonly unavailable in "our way" of getting the games)?
. Can the resolution problem be solved through a command in the Manifest file?
. Does anyone know of such a program, as stated above?
. Can anyone do what Antone does? :P
. Can you, k610 user, define 176x220 (this is no redundancy from me, the option is there, it just won't stay selected) resolution, thus forcing the game to play fullscreen?

Note: I am not asking to resize in all games, it's just in these games that work fullscreen, flawlessly in Sjboy j2me emulator and can't be forced to 176x220 in my mobile.

on replying to ur questions ...

no .. of course

. Can the resolution problem be solved through a command in the Manifest file?
i didnt try it ... but i think it works only with 240x320 & 352x416 screens

i dont know

if u want to resize these games .. u could mention them & i will try to fix them for u ..

btw , about resizing the screen to 176x208 or 176x220 , i think it is not easy because it is about changing some codes inside the [*.class] files & the way to change the screen differ from one game to another ... that is why ,besides being complicated, i cannot mention how to resize them ...

Cheers!!

Thanks for your fast reply.

I don't know a zit about Java programing, so I take your words as truth.

But the games already work fullscreen on this J2ME emulator (SJBOY) ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).

Just try some of these games in the emulator and you'll see what I mean:
(NOTE: links to the s60 section)

NOM S60 ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
Mafia Wars 3 Yakuza S60 ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
Nightclub Empire S60 ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
Rock City Empire S60 ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

And here's an example of a patched game so it resizes (in this case to 176x208), and also sizes up to 176x220. Just open the jar file with winzip/winrar and you'll see an extra folder...just look into it.

Rubik's Bloxx Twister S60 ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

Hope you'll be able to do something

just hope the display difference isn't all about the program playing the J2ME software...k610i vs SjBoy.

the games u provided r stritchable & actually have no spicific dimentions .. they should work fullscreen in ur k610 without any midification ..
look at the pics .. they could stritch to any screen size ...

anyway i tried doing something that might work ... test these 2 games & tell if there is any difference !!

yes. that's what I was talking about. However my k610 is incapable of forcing 176x220 display on these games (even those you resized).
What's strange is that my girlfriends k600 is capable of doing this by entering the values in an option my k610 does have...User defined resolution.

I noticed that the size of the s60 installed games (NOM & Rock City Empire) are different from those I bought, eventhough they have the same version number, so there must be some coding difference to cope with this incapability of my mobile.

Thanks again for your effort mate.
