- copy all files from folder ttn.symbian_6.020 to root folder of your memory card in "mass storage" mode
- tomtom should install automatically

Map activation:
- there is a thread on this forum how to do it: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=123933
- request your activation code here: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=124024

Compatibility:
All Symbian 9.1 S60v3 devices without Nokia N91 and Nokia 3250.

Maps of your region:
- maps version 660: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=133509
- maps version 650: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=122130
- remember to put folder with map in your memory card root folder!

Changelog:

No, after copying all files as you describe (I used a card reader), nothing happens and no Tomtom icon between applications. Any advice? Thanks a lot...

So.. now i have copied all files via a card reader to the minisd card. First nothing happens to after i put the card back into the phone.
then i removed the previous version of tomtom via the program-manager and did that procedure again (copied files and put the card in the phone).
Now it works with my n73, but the voice lag is still there :(

If the installation doesn't start automatically, just copy the sis from the zip folder to your root directory and launch it with a file mgr.

I've just tryed by the only thing I get is an error message (something like: "Impossible to install") at the end of the installation attempt.
I'll come back to previous release asap...

Ramonh77, you must uninstall previous version of TomTom and then try to install new version. If still does not work I suggest you to format your phone and try again. Maybe this helps.

Removing the previous release from application manager was the first thing I did. In fact, asI wrote, I had no Tomtom icon among the applications.
Then I copyed new files with a card reader but, after puting the card in the phone and turning on then73, nothing happened.
I've so tryed to install manually using a file browser but I have that error message. That's all.

I've had the same problem in the past and indeed with this new version. TO fix it I have formatted my phone and the memory card then copied the new install files to the formatted memory card. Only then will it be installed properly.

Damn...I tryed everything I know to get any Tomtom working, but with no fortune. I hope my latest minisd backup let me to not reinstall a lot of apps.

thanks alot for this.

i formatted my memory card, uninstalled v6.01, installed v6.02 and it works fine. you need to add voices, rasters and zip folder (for u.k).

one thing, it auto installs on the memory card, can't see a performance difference from 6.01 which i had installed to the phone.

anyone know what the changelog is?

What about contact navigation like they have on the palm, is that possible on symbian and if so do you have the install files for the contact navigation.

Bro, if i understand you correctly, the voice lag you mention may be due to having too many poi enabled, try turning on only a few and test and you will not have the slowness/voice lag!

hmmm interesting, i have a nokia n80ie and i have never had any lag, its only when i have too many poi enabled then it tends to slow down, i guess because its continuously searching for all the poi while travelling.

How about trying the following -

- move tomtom to phone memory, obviously not the maps, just the app etc.

- try re-installing tomtom on a different sd or mmc, as the problem could be a fake or problematic sd/mmc.

If after trying all that it still doesnt work then i guess in your case then, it down to the phone model or os version!:iphonepost:

Bloody thanks for your post. It worked on my E61.

What I did:

- Copied the content of your zip to the memory card (via cardreader) overwriting the 6.01 files.
- Uninstalled the 6.01 from App manager (It had the name like TomTom by BiNPDA).
- In App manager, select new TomTom NAVIGATOR, Options -> Install

For those who have "Unable to install" errors after previously having 6.010 installed, I have found a solution that does NOT require you to format your phones etc.

Uninstall the old version through App Manager.

Then, using data transfer mode, remove the old .sis installer file from e:\private\10202dce (it may be called something like TomTom-NAVIGATOR_S60_3_0_v_6_0_1_7640_PA.sis or 20003970.sis)

Now copy the new 6.020 files as described above but do NOT copy \private\10202dce\TomTom-NAVIGATOR.sis

Instead copy TomTom-NAVIGATOR.sis to e:\TomTom-NAVIGATOR.sis

Now, come out of data mode and using a file browser or whatever works for you, run that e:\TomTom-NAVIGATOR.sis file. The installer should start and run correctly, installing the application.

Now, go back into data transfer mode and MOVE that e:\TomTom-NAVIGATOR.sis file to e:\private\10202dce\20003970.sis

You should now switch out of data transfer mode and be fully operational, with the ability to uninstall the application in the future.

"Your milage may vary".

Very good directions zardoz99, thats exactly the way i was able to get mine going on my n80ie but for one direction, this direction -

"Now, go back into data transfer mode and MOVE that e:\TomTom-NAVIGATOR.sis file to e:\private\10202dce\20003970.sis"

my question is whats the point of doing that, i didnt and mine is still working ok, my reason for asking, is that i am the kind of person who always wants to do things properly and I now fear that if i do not do as above, somehow the app may at some point not function properly!

The reason for the "Now, go back into data transfer mode and MOVE that e:\TomTom-NAVIGATOR.sis file to e:\private\10202dce\20003970.sis" is that if you don't do that I don't think you can uninstall the application later. I think it needs the .sis file for the application manager to see the application in the list. I could be wrong but when I tested this it didn't show up until I placed that file in that folder.

Glad to have been of help.

Hi can someone please help me I have 2 questions. Fistly can you just buy any bluetooth reciever off ebay or do you need a tomtom bluetooth reciever? which ones work better? And secondly does anyone know how to get a free speed camera database for this. Thanks in advance.

1. No after update firmware on N73 older versions of Bluetooth do not work.
I don't know why make sure there is version 2.0 on the blutooth reciver, my dosn't work and I have Bluetooth version 1.2.
If you have another phone, TRY :)

Does this (or any) symbian SatNav software run without a GPS receiver and just show a progress map as you select each step of the journey?

Thanks

TomTom has a demo mode which runs through the journey as if you were driving
demo doesn't have a pause though
there's also images, this shows an image of every turn

both work without gps

I have tried every tomtom from this forum on my n95 and I can't install any version. I have just lose 5 hours of my life for nothing.

I can't install any sis file, I always get this error:"The file is damaged" (something like that).

And this error appears for every tomtom .sis file.

Why you can install it and I cant?

For N73 Nokia TOM TOM is 6.02 version and v6 maps and the same is for Nokia N95, but like they say up TOM TOM DOESN'T WORK YET ON INTERNAL GPS ON N95 OR 6110 NAVIGATOR. You should try Garmin XT.
If you have old file and you get message that certificate ends, put the date on 5/2007 and everythink will go OK. If you go to far away you got the message certificate erorr.

Usually on old phones like N70 you got message that file is damaged, becouse that is not corect version for that phone. Version TT 5.02 is OK and there is no sis installation, the icon automaticlly shows in menu.

Should be "root of your memory card" not "root folder of your memory card".

Root of C-drive is C:\ but root folder of C-drive is C:\root.

Got it?

eRura
3rd March 2008, 17:27
Shoric, unpack all 4 parts and then install. You will get sis file and folders. Just copy the folders to memory card and install sis file. Remember to copy folder with map.

unkn0wn, unfortunately TomTom 6 does not work with internal module GPS. You need to use external bluetooth module.

nok1ata, improvements in TomTom for E61 only. See official (http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=6893&Lid=1) TomTom changelog.

mbabelek, voices in version 6.02 must be in TomTom folder on your memory card (not in Voices folder like in previous version 6.01)

Thanks for your clarification eRura! I have TT6.01 running with no problems whatsoever on my N73 with GB and IE maps. I've tried the bigger map of the whole Western and Central Europe too - works fine. I am now looking for a proper detailed map for Bulgaria, but have no luck in finding one :-( Any help or links would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had problems with installing onto N95. In the end I copied all the files from the folder 'copytosd' onto the memory card using a card reader. I then found the copy of the sis file TomTom-NAVIGATOR and made another copy of it in the root directory of the SD card. The root directory is the main or top level directory for those who don't understand this word 'root'.

I put the card back in the phone. Switched on and it installed without prompting.

Thankyou. I'll now go back down the thread to give some rep.

Edit.. It was eRura Thank you!

When i run GPSd after a few seconds it starts changing lon and lat to other number so i know that has connected but then when i open TT and go properties-gps-other gps reciever-and select BiNPDA GPS it just stays on connecting to GPS.

Iv tryed installing 'TomTom Mobile v6.02 S60 v3 Symbian OS9.1 Cracked-BiNPDA' and 'TomTom Navigator 6.02 (8300)'.

The first one once it shows long/lat but when i run TT it stays on the splash screen, but the second one once long/at shows and then i run it it oens but it simply stays on Connecting to GPS when i select BiNPDA (I think the second one is only for External GPSs).

Where do you think the problem is?

Could anybody confirm that BindaGPS doesn't work for Nokia N96 because it has platform S60 9.3 instead of Nokia N95 which has S60 9.2?

I'm using a Nokia N96 and installed tomtom 6.020 with cards version 675.1409. Western Europe (=last version which works on Nokia Symbian S60) I can use tomtom with a external GPS, but want to use it with internal GPS.

So I downed the bt.sisx & GPSd.jar files (Bluetooth GPS emulation)
I installed them both and can use GPSd which got a GPS fix very fast, but the "bt" file cannot be opened so i don't get "device added" which means in Tomtom I can't choose BindaGPS.

Could anybody confirm i cannot use it on the Nokia N96?

thanks alot for this.

i formatted my memory card, uninstalled v6.01, installed v6.02 and it works fine. you need to add voices, rasters and zip folder (for u.k).

one thing, it auto installs on the memory card, can't see a performance difference from 6.01 which i had installed to the phone.

anyone know what the changelog is?

Guys, save your troubles with trying to make TomTom work with the built-in GPS receivers of your mobiles and install GARMIN Mobile XT 5.00.40 or Sygic McGuider 7.70/7.71 - all work fine with latest phones, e.g. N96, Nokia 5800 etc.
