Compass v4.0 J2ME

Use your cell phone as a compass. By rotating the phone so that the sun and/or moon icons match their location in the sky, the top of the phone will indicate true north.

New Features in Version 4.0


User interface reorganized.
Select location and destination using world map or airport code.
Automatic daylight saving time adjustment.
Load and save favorite locations or destinations.
Display heading, distance, and local time of destination.
Set arbitrary date and time.
12 hour or 24 hour time display option.
"Prayer Focus" feature deprecated (replaced by "Destination").
"Color" display option deprecated.

Compatibility: Any cell phone or other mobile device with J2ME (Java 2 mobile edition).

I've never understood how could this application work as a compass without the need of GPS or something like this

Well knowing that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, the app determines which way is north depending on the time of day, position of the sun (or moon), and your rough geographic location.

Once you know which way north is, you can easily find which direction you need to travel to get to your destination.

wow! it works perfect on my EMURATOR.:)

don't Struggle....

Just get the latest version, V 4.1 as the official site says, (but 4.01 when instaling).

It works fine with my N95-1 but I am not sure how useful It is going to be in practical life. Thanks anyway...Mansur.

is there any better version of compass for my n85 like the version in iphone? :confused:
