TrackID

The new and amazing TrackID-feature on Sony Ericsson Walkman phones have now been created in a JAVA-version, too. Of course, it's not official, but it works like magic!

I was playing 2Pac's "Dear Mama" on my PC with lots of bas, and I didn't think the application would be able to get it. But here it is! :D :D :D

Here's how you do:
Use the phone feature 'Record sound', any song from any FM radio, NOT your built-in radio.
Record for at least 10-15 seconds. The file will have .amr extension. It's automatically saved in Music folder.
Open Track ID. Browse to folder e--Music--your recording.amr. Folder E: is your Memory Stick.
Click Select
Allow to send to the net? Yes.
TrackID processes the .amr file. You'll see log, flush, open Audio Streaming, etc.
If successful, the app will ask you to launch your web browserShould be working on all J2ME phones with a recorder and internet access. But I would recommend only using it on newer phones - from about K750 and up.

The TrackID analyzes audio from recorded music from the phone and then submits that audio sample to the TrackID service. The Gracenote service compares a "musical fingerprint" generated from the audio sample against an enormous database of fingerprints containing 2.5 million songs which covers the global music market. The fingerprint is matched and the listener is sent the song name and artist info.

I must not understand. What would this be good for? I did test the app and it does work, but I am not sure when I would ever need to use it.

It's if you hear some music in the radio, but you don't know the artist, then you can record a sample, and then analyse it with the program. Afterwards you can buy the song, or whatever you want to do ;)

I have also tried it successfully working on a W810. Haven't tried it on my W800, though.

Free proxies can be found searching Google for "free proxy". Cheers

So, this is not free? we must spend our money to connect with GPRS... Oh. no thanks. It's useless.

Dude, how did you think it was going to regonize the song if it didn't have internet connection?? It's the EXACT same thing the Walkman phones does - the service is free, but it costs for the internet connection.

Hmm, just tried it on my 810. The app seems to work but I got this message...
"We're sorry, but your device is not allowed to use this service."

I am also having problems setting the proxy and/or port and I found loads of free proxys from google. Most of the proxies I have tried get a io error straight away the ones which use port 3128 take about 30 seconds before a error is thrown up
