hey i wanna set mine up to, i enter the correct settings for my account but it never seems to work, i have tried Gmail Yahoo and Mail.com.....and still nothing!!!! I have only had my P990I a few days

Chose Email configurator from Control Panel -> Messages
it will connect to internet for update, than u have to chose ur phone type,
can popup warning about certyficate continue,
chose your country next chose mobile provider than chose connection GPRS or GSM and provider internet on phone ( same as mobile provider ).
Now chose incoming serwer if not listed tap manualy.
enter email username, password, and adress, enter security code from image and submit
save your pin, answer on incoming message with your pin, accept auto config and u r done.
you have to only save yours account as prefered and (i haved to) in settings email acountss enter pasword to account one more time
And done :)

thanks for the info but im trying to getting it running though my home wifi, its all linked up to my netowrk fine but it just doesnt want to download my emails

check your firewall, in exeptions add email ports maby this will work

i am getting emails in my p990i yahoo and gmail
for gmail & yahoo.co.uk pop3 settings
GMail:
incomming server : pop.gmail.com and SSl 995 port
out going server : smtp.gmail.com annd ssl 465 port
yahoo:
pop.mail.yahoo.com
smtp:mail.yahoo.com
and SSl ports are defalt

Yes, it works fine, I have exactly these 2 on my M600i. However, on my P990i the GMail account doesn't work even if I input exactly the same settings as in the M600i. I never tried a restart but I think it won't be fixed by that, so I am stuck. But AGAIN it does work flawlessly on my M600i.

It's ok now, it works fine on P990i. It's like this: on Outgoing server, I had to change the port. Check the Help page on gmail.com and follow instructions there PLUS you have to activate the POP 3 setting from the gmail e-mail account. Good luck!

done all that and still not working...i think it is time to start considering HTC as the next phone. I feel quite sad on the SE P990i purchase :(

go to se.com and select your device type and then support. under this category you will see all the services including email settings. figure out the rest!

That's because Yahoo.com aloows you POP3 e-mail only if you pay 24$/year. otherwise it won't work. Try yahoo.co.uk there the POP3 connection is free.

Ok guys, here it is....:supz:
I could receive gmail but couldn't send any with the current settings. Now, i've found he right solution. Was looking on some other sites and this is what i found....

Step 1
On your computer, while logged in to your gmail, click:
Settings -> Forwarding and POP -> POP Download -> Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on

(Otherwise you get ALL the messages downloaded from your gmail.... not good. If you want that click the first radio button.)

Step 2
On your m600, open up the email app on the phone and add a new email account. Then use this info to populate the fields:

Standard Tab
Account name: your_email@gmail.com
Your name: name
Email-adress: your_email@gmail.com
Connection type: POP3

Inbox Tab
Server adress, Incoming: pop.gmail.com
Username: your_email@gmail.com
Password: your password
Fetch limits (not sure about translation): Only headlines (if a mail is interesting you can download it later)
Get with group (not sure if necessary): Internet

Outbox Tab
Server adress, Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com
Make sure both

* Use SMTP-authentication
* Use login information from inbox

are checked.
Send with group: Internet

Step 3
Click More on lower right and choose Advanced.

Incoming tab
Secure connection: SSL
Port for incoming mail: 995 (which is default)
Let Secure password authentication be unchecked.

Outgoing tab
Secure connection: TLS
Outgoing mail: 25 (which is default)
Check Use MIME-encoding

Click Save on lower left.
And Save again.

Step 4
Download equifax.der.txt & equifax.pem.txt from this post and rename them to equifax.der & equifax.pem by removing the .txt at the end of the filenames. Send both files to your phone.
Use the phones filemanger and browse to the folder where you put the files. Open equifax.der (the one with something green on the icon) and install the certificate.

DONE!

Now everything should work. To test if everything works. Mail a message to your self from your computer. Dont open it.
On you m600, go to Messages, browse down to your gmail account (without opening it). Click More on lower right and Get and send. If you recieve your new mail, well ... it works baby! Try responding with an email to be sure that you can send emails as well.

for gmail, just Visit '' gmail.com/app '' on your mobile web browser. download the java application n ur ready to go

what setting do i have to change if the phone tells me "connection time out" after i press the get and send?
