Maybe not everyone knows that her/his Nokia has an inbuilt messenger, too.

In order to have it work all one have to do is to go to hxxp://[Only registered and activated users can see links] and to set up a free account there.

After receiving the confirmation mail you can log in with the received password (later to be modified, of course).

In the main menu on the website under "Get Connected" you can find the settings needed to your Nokia phone's built-in IM client.

It works very well on my N80ie.

Enjoy.

you've got to "experiment" a bit. i made it work on N95 easily. but on my sister's N70, it took a lot of tinkering to make it work.

Thanks for this, working on N95,i was trying to make it work the inbuilt IM for a long time, repp added !

when i bought my N95 i played with the built-in IM as well but when i couldn't get it to work, i thought well, i'll just keep it somewhere "hidden" and out of the way of my other useful and wonderful applications. now it's right there in my most accessed folder together with the rest. :) I JUST LOVE IT! i've already said that twice. :) shall we yamigo, everyone? cheers!

+rep to hardside for discovering yamigo!

About the userID and password, should it be those that Yamigo sends to my email, or my personal hotmail ones?

Finally the web address, should it be yamigo.com or hotmail.com? Please advise...thank you people

bro, it all depends on where ur in the world u are, as some providers have taken steps to block services like these, whilst using their gprs, especially the ones that give it to you free, as part of your mobile package or have equivalent im packages in which u get a certain mb free and when u exceed that ur charged for it :(

Am having the same problem, and iam 99% sure its ma provider, as i ave 10mb im limit on ma im package with them and consequently unable to use this one for free :(

...if only it worked thru wifi...!

hi there hardside! i installed fine on N95, N73 and N70 without having those problems. it's just too perfect on my N95. :D however, i can't get the contacts to load on the N73 and my sister's N70. i tried tinkering here and there but couldn't get it them to show. i had to manually add a couple but it shows online if they are and offline if they're not. i'm sorry i'm just stumped right now.

calling on the smart guys to post if they figured out a way to either make the contacts load or show their status properly. :)

edit: yamigoers, please post if you got it running successfully on your phone so others will be inspired to make the change. cheers to all the yamigoers out there!

i always had it exactly as you mentioned.
That's why i never use Yamigo.

I had created an account there, and i've added a MSN ID i use for test purposes only (it only has two or three contacts), and with this address, everything works fine.Worst of all is when i tried to change my MSN id last week to my official hotmail, i found out Yamigo is having some problem that makes users unable to change account options like MSN id...a pity.Don't know if it's like that yet...some kind of mysql error...

then i've decided to create a new account and register my official MSN id.But i've faced that problem hardside told about.

the best thing of the built-in client is it supports WAP connections.People that are on networks where connection needs a proxy will be able to chat via IM application

i've already checked that box..but in your phone you can see when your contacts are online and send messages to them, just as if it was Agile Messenger or IM+?The main problem here isn't it doesn't load contacts: it actually loads them (not all of them), but every contact appears as being offline...The only way to chat with my MSN contacts using this application is waiting until someone invites me to chat. What's not that practical

Itz nt workin wid n e the settings on mah E61 i dnt whtz d probs but it is shwn unable to connect btw m usin wap conection...

Thanx..

you don't need a TCP connection....It works normally with those WAP access points.IM application uses the proxy server set in connection settings. That's one of the main advantages of that application over the other IM solutions for Symbian S60 3rd edition.
And Yamigo server the application connects to uses port 80 (default HTTP port) then there's no reason why it shouldn't work

Hey Jeanius :) I got it to work on my Phones i.e. N95 and N73. I tried PacketBox, too. It loads my contacts very well and shows on/offlines correctly WHEN it works. Unfortunately, it is still beta and there are many stops. Also it shows 3 confusing messaging groups by default (in each group there are all of my contacts, I cannot delete those redundant groups) and from time to time it stops functioning.

Also found another good-looking Wireless Village gateway named Colibria. This has another problem: it does not support MSN or anything else, one can use messaging only toward other 'Colibria' users... :(

I'm having a hard time fetching the contacts and also sending messages. You can try visiting the Yamigo forum and you'll see that's a real mess. Everybody is crying there with no help from anybody, so chill out, the server is not working as expected. In fact, it hardly works. Some are lucky, some not.

To download your contact list to your phone, first you need to set the "Fetch contacts" in your profile before you login. Once you logged in go to: Menu| Messages| Chat| Chat contacts| Options| Add contact| Copy from server. Select to download the list that looks like "~pep1.0_subscriptions-1" maybe being prefixed by your username at Yamigo. The phone will give you the possibility to choose which contacts whould be downloaded in your local phone book. Use Mark and Unmark to select them and confirm by "Done". just installed on my n80 here in greece.
all contacts from aim and msn were imported but appear offline-but they also do when i log in from pc at same time to check status.
thing is, when i access msn from mobile it automatically disconnects my connection on pc-it didn't happen now.

has anyone actually CHATTED with their contacts?
tried sending offline messages to some contacts, get message saying "contact offline and may not receive message"-not like msn (or Heir for that matter) where you CAN send offline messages

i tried this again lately and was able to send one msg to a friend online but after that, the other msgs weren't received anymore. weird. i think prob is with yamigo server. :( nothing we can do about it anymore. it would've been really sweet if it worked without fail but right now seems like it's mostly not working for all of us. maybe time to give it a rest kids? :)

Tested on E51: logged in fine but contact list not fetched...
Tried multiple times. Yes, "Fetch Contacts" is ticked in "Your details" on the site
