[REL] Route66 Mobile 7 - 7.3.468 - Support with N95 internal GPS

This package is known multilanguage Symbian Route 66 Mobile 7 v2/3. Only this package mysteriously works well with internal N95's GPS receiver !
It does not ask BT connection at startup and doesn't exists the item "STANDARD GPS" in preferences --> navigation menu. Incredible... but, after some time, satellites fix happens by N95 inside GPS receiver!

First fix may take up to 10 minutes or more.
next fix less then a minute.

No need to open internal GPS status application (even if you want see how much sattelite available)

Maps not included.

- Extract rar,
- sign the sis, (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=146714)
- Install signed app.
- Copy your maps (not included) into system/apps/ROUTE66/maps
(you need maps for symbian, not ppc)
- Test application
- If activation required, choose activate via itnernet and digit <16> character. Make sure 16 and not more!!!

If don't work, try formatting minisd AND hard reseting your phone.

- Problems may appear if you have previously tested other Route 66 version with different ApplicationID (Not original may have different AppID, this release should have the same AppID like original).

- Just resetting phone may not be enough because at restart the phone install signature from microsd.

- Just formatting microsd may not be enough because phone store signature into internal memory.

- If it crash calculating path, try another map.

Tested on N95 - fw: 11.0.026 -ok
Tested map: Italy.prm 1.7 (from Route66_Mobile_7.0.989.iso)

Tested on N95 - fw: 12.0.013 -ok

It's not working on my N95. Installed it on SD card and copied system/apps/route66 to SD. After startup it closes within 2 seconds.

same here and it works fine... weird... try removing it and remove any traces of its files using x-plore and re-install it again.. hope this helps

Installed e disinstalled severale times. Installed also on internal memory, but nothing. I'm going to hard format

ok before you hard format make sure that you have enough RAM i.e there isn't a lot of apps running in the background while you are trying to open route 66..

When I put a map on the memory card there was not a map folder so I created one in E:system/apps/route66. Is this normal?

yes this is normal.. happened to me as well.. and after creating the folder maps everything worked fine

Thanks for everyone who put such a work in making it work !!!
For those people who still can get it work.
Go download Unsis
and extract the previous route66.sis to temp and check all the folders
Delete those folders on your Memory Card using usb cable in "Data transfer mode"
After u delete all the folders install the program.
download maps from here http://rapidshare.com/users/KOH87I
Create a folder "map" inside app/route66/ (put your map in there)
Then start program ->activate by internet->type in any 16 numbers

I dont quite get you?? You extract the previous SIS using UNSIS app, but where do you use the files? you just say delete the ones on the card - if you havent installed, then you dont have any??

Im new in this, so please help me.

I signed and installed Route66 on N95. I have downloaded map (eastern_europe.prm) on my computer.. Can someone please write step by step what I have to do now ?

On E:\resource\apps I dont have any Route66 folder, I only see some r66_* files in "apps" folder.

You have two option here. 1 take your micro sd out use a card reader to read it.
MAKE SURE U SET YOUR UNTICK DONT SHOW HIDDEN THING.
at your folder screen click tool->folder options->view -> tick "show hidden files"

2.Use USB cable and set as "Data transfer mode"

You should be able to see the Route66 folder just add a folder "map"

For Those Who Have The Old Version On There Phone
1.uninstall The Mobile7(route66)sis File From Your App.manger
2.sign The New One
3.using Card Reader Delete The System-->apps-->route66
4.install The New Signed Route66.sis(with Memory Card In Of Course)
5.try Opening The New Route66,if It Does Not Open And It Closes After 1-2 Seconds Go To Step 6
6.using Card Reader Again Copy The Old Route66 Folder (the One That Goes In System--app)
7.go Open Route66 Again And You Will Have A Full 100% Working Route66

No Need To Format Any Cards,trust Me I Did These Few Steps And It Worked Flawlessly

Testing now to see if it can pick up the satellites (my room sucks for GPS signals!)

I downloaded EasternEurope.prm map, but it is only 52887 KB and roads are very badly covered. It this the best EasternEurope map ? If not, where can I find better one ?

Ive found bigger EasternEurope maps with over 100 mb, but they were *.map and not *.prm, so it doesnt work on Route66...

ShakalSLO: .MAP extenstions are not Route66 maps. They are OZIEXPLORER maps and not compatible with the R66. R66 all use PRM extensions only as far as I am aware.

Bastaus: See me previous attachment - add this to the SYSTEM\APPS\ROUTE66 folder

John74: Thanks for posting this up. I did what you told me, but my previous R66 folder did not have the cracked Activation.dat file. I searched my HDD and found a cracked one in there and thought it may work.
Advantage of that activation.dat is that does not ask you to put in a activation/serial number at all. Just goes straight through to the program!

firstly goto Tools/Gps Data/navigation/options/satellie status, make sure it picks up the satellites with the black bars, then open route66 and it should work.
You dont really need to goto tools/gps data etc but its easier to see if gps lock is actually working

doesnt crash for me but its rather annoying why it repeats itself twice :/ Maybe try reinstalling?

I'm still getting "resource error, please re-install". Or something like that.

I've installed the app to my mmc, added a map into the maps folder on my mmc and installed the activation key.

I haven't previously had a version of route 66 on my mobile so I had nothing to uninstall.

I really don't want to format my memory card as I've got loads of songs and apps on it.

Can somebody suggest what I need to do to get it to work??

I had never had any version of R66 on my phone or card.

I installed this and I keep getting the Resource error, Resource files are missing etc...

I have tried now three maps already....
Could someone point me a working map?
Maybe on megaupload? I'm behind a proxy and can't get stuff very easily from rapidshare. ("wait 666 minutes" :rolleyes:)

No you don't have to have gps fix when starting the program.
You need to have a working map in a right place.

It'll get gps fix after sw is started...

To all those having the "Resource" error, be sure to install the map in a folder E:\system\apps\route66\maps: the folder "maps" is not created by the installer, you have to create it manually.

Since it works perfectly with your phone, could you point the map you're using?
I think that I have too old map or so... I don't know, I keep getting the error. And yes the map is in a right place, checked that 1000+ times...

Agree - I seem to have the exact same problem as wladimir66 in that my phone gives me a resource error even thuogh I've installed the GB map in the maps folder so I must have a bad map. I got mine off rapidshare, has anyone got a working GB map they can post here?

Agree - I seem to have the exact same problem as wladimir66 in that my phone gives me a resource error even thuogh I've installed the GB map in the maps folder so I must have a bad map. I got mine off rapidshare, has anyone got a working GB map they can post here?

I had the same problem with a bad britain map from rapidshare. I have now used the britain.prm from this post and it works great:

Route66 wouldn't even start to be able to activate via internet until I copied the activation.dat. Just kept closing as soon as I opened it.

Working fine for me on N95.

Providing you have signed the file first, I cannot make a better guide than already posted earlier, this is my method using the USB Data Cable.

1. Install Route66 - Connect cable and select mass storage mode.

2. Click tools/folder options/view. Select show hidden files and folders and deselect hide protected operating system files (recommended). This will show the directory for the Route66.

3. Place the activation key provided by bchliu in the Route66 folder.

4. Create a new folder, rename to maps.

5. Download a .prm map of your choice from [here] (http://rapidshare.com/users/KOH87I) and place into the maps folder you just created.

To confirm directory:

E:\system\apps\Route66 - Activation Key
E:\system\apps\Route66\maps - .prm map of your choice.

6. Start Navigating!

At first the GPS took awhile to lock as described in the first post, but now works perfectly. Best app available so far.

I hope this helps.

ok for all of those who can't start the application.. i think the problem is with the map... first of all try to get the correct map and make sure that the map has the its own activiation key or has been cracked and you can then enter any 16 numerical digits..

using the provided activiation file won't help all of you.. it will only help for those who has the same map...

To all those having the "Resource" error, i was having the sam the prob. with the maps jut for traying download the map for Athens.prm and put it in the folder E:\system\apps\route66\maps: the folder "maps" is not created by the installer, you have to create it manually.
and i am sure it will work

I did go and check the GPS status and I saw the black bars and everything but when I went back to R66 still gave me the "No GPS" message :(

sigh..... why cant just tomtom release a working version... I had no trouble with that one if I just had an extern receiver witch I dont have any more... this **** really sucks.. It tooke me a half day just to figure out how to install it and get it working.. and then when it does.. the gps doesnt...

@Skylab303_OK!! Try this reboot your fone,then launch route.66 go to view 3-gps information, make sure the slider is up on fone, stick it out the window!! & have a beer & wait for a gps_fix then hit the back button!!

it's lots of people here speaking without even testing and they miss lead others on how to get it working.first of all great upload thank u.. gonna try explain for those who didn't understand yet i already tested workiing 100%. download app and sign. then installed on memory card. after that go to e:\system\apps\route66 and create a folder called maps. insert ur map inside "maps"folder and try to run apps once. it will not opening i know. go now back to e:\system\apps\route66 and u'll find now a file called "activationkey.dat" simply cut it to ur pc and open with note pad then enter any 16 digit key and paste it back on e:\system\apps\route66. when u try opening route66 now will work if not then something wrong with map. after all this go to "gps data" (normally is under tools on ur phone) wait until gps from satelites and u'll have route66 working 100%. enjoy

SINGAPORE_MALAYSIA_2005_Q2.PRM map is not compatible with this Route66version. No wonder I could not get the program to work and always get "resource error, please re-install".

When I add other map such as macau.prm, Route66 works flawlessly on my
N95.

Anybody has a correct version for SINGAPORE_MALAYSIA_2005_Q2.PRM?

Now I found the solution for all, whose application close after starting!!!

At first install this version of rout66: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=129472&highlight=route66
Then activate it with any kex of 16 characters.
Copy the map into the created "maps" folder how described posts before.
Now the programm starts 100%, but it won´t find a gps connection.
So uninstall it! and install this signed version of rout66.
You don´t have to activate it, the application will start and work with the internal GPS of N95.

The spelling mistake are mind.
I hope you understand this english text ;)

Weird Weird Weird ............ Installed App, would start the welcome screen and then close.

Installed, uninstalled, copied Activation.dat, Installed to Card, then momory, then to card ......... and then it started working.

Dont know what the hell was up with it, but its working on my N95 now !!!!!

Hi guys after a few hours spent last night till 3:00 am on the bl0ddy n95 and route66 app,i still cant get it to work,it keeps showing "resource error please reinstall application".can anyoane please helps i really dont know what to do,i copied the .dat in the route66 folder,and the map in the route66/maps.

Perhaps its because i got firmware v10.0.018 :???: :(

This is a bit tricky.... i've dowloaded and tested lots of suggestions
from this thred... But MANY of them just DONT work and/or are for
other navigation software.
-I made a search at Isohunt.com for "Route66 mobile" and got,
a good hit "route66 mobile 7 - 2.1gb" this torrent has ALL available maps for
europe and more important they WORK !
this is my direct link (im not shure if this is allowed or if it works,
but otherwise just go and make a search yourselves)

Now

make a "MAPS" directory under "mmc:system\apps\Route66\"
where "mmc" corresponds to youre memorycard reader letter f.ex. "E: or F: or whatever"
the "System"-map is hidden so make shure you can see hidden dir/files in explorer.
The path after, should be "mmc:system\apps\Route66\maps" (this is important)
Copy your downloaded mapfile to the new created directory !!

OK almost there.... now insert mmc in telephone and give it a try,
if it starts Congrats..., your up and running get outside and find some
satellites :supz:

If not, dont worry, just put your mmc in cardreader again,
copy the downloaded "ActivationKey.dat" into:
"mmc:system\apps\Route66\" and YES overwrite the existing one !

Now Back with mmc to tel. and *wow* it WORKS ! :supz:

Again IF NOT, :| then you probably got a bad MAP-download,
try find another !!
But if you followed the above, it should WORK !

chaps i tried to sign i have done everything to a t. When i come to the end and have to double click the auto_sign.sis auto batch file prog. a dos window just flashes very quickly and nothing happens. my route66 is still not signed. it flashes that quick i cannot even read what it said. anyone know what the hell is going on?

u must have signsis.exe in the same folder as well as with auto_signsis.bat.

and also u need to edit the bat file with

"signsis MyApp.sis MyApp_signed.sis MyApp.cer MyApp.key 12345"

Change Myapp with Route66.Mobile.v7.3.486.N95_unsigned if you created your cer file with the same name.

You must have these files in the same directory

As far as I can tell, you have to load the gps info app first, to initialize the gps of the n95, then after it locks onto the gps satellites (and you actually have signal from the sats) then you load Route 66. At least, thats what I did to make it work.

Odd, after making it work, I thought the built in Maps program is better. At least there are more options.

Especially when it comes to searching, how am I going to be able to use this if it doesnt search well? For instance, if I type in the name of the store i want to go to, ie Futureshop, the maps program finds them all but this Route66 keeps on telling me nothing was found.

Is this really how this works?

yes slovenia map is in "eastern europe" and as i said before coverage of slovenia is limited to major roads only with the exception of a capital ljubljana (street level or beter).

the only countries with very good coverage in eastern europe seem to be poland and czech republic

If you want Premium download yes, so you can download as much as you want.
If you use the free version, you need to wait between downloads.
If you are particularly unlucky and your provider uses shared IP addresses, you may not be able to download at all :(

There are some tricks (not always working) to go around this: search the appropriate section of the forum.

While this program seems to work with N95, I personally can't wait until a keygen or crack for the internal N95 maps navigation is released.

This app (route66) seems to run a bit flaky for me, and I don't like that I have to start with GPS DATA first :(

Has anyone seen a crack for the built in N95 maps navigation?

30 seconds? Man, the Nokia app doesn't get GPS sat signal that fast! Mine takes several MINUTES before I actually lock on to signal. I have to load gps data, or route66 will just sit there for 20 minutes no gps signal. I'm running v10 firmware still though.

Yes searching is easy as any other gps app... I can just put in a partial address like # and street and it'll give me a list with post codes and cities and I can just pick the right one.

this crap doesnt work in gothenburg, sweden. Tried 3 addresses now and route66 cant find to any of them. He finds it when I serach it.. but when hes going to navigate.. he takes me to anywhere but not the right place :(

I just downloaded the app and I'm trying to sign/install it, but it wont work.
The problem is that I can not open DevCertRequest. Nothing happens when I try to dubble-click on the icon. Neither works right click-open.

Anyone who have an idea? Is it possible to sign an app without this tool? If so, I would appreciate if you could post a small howto or something.

Yeah, but it seems that it is working now.
Strange, didn't open on any of my computers yesterday...

Anyhow, I've managed to sign and install R66 now, but I'm getting the "resource error"-crap like everybody else.

Dunno if it is the map, can someone post a link for a map they knows working? And please, not rapidshare. I want a map for Scandinavia/Sweden, but every working map is fine (just for test).

Another thought, I followed the colourful guide on page 13 in this thread, but the phone is not asking if I want to overwrite an old ActivationKey, when I paste the new one? I had no key from the beginning. I also read at another forum that someone is having a folder called "fonts" in the System/apps/route66-folder. If your R66 is working, do you have this font-folder?

Right, i think i have tried everything now but it still won't work.

I have signed the sis ok. I have tried 3 different Britain maps (from this thread). 2 different activation.dat's. Everything is in the right folders. Tried reinstalling the app a few times.

But it always closes after a second. Does anyone have any further idea's before i give up?

I had the same issue mate,if u haven't update u phone to the new firmware 11..... something update it and u will have no problems....

there is a problem maybe with the GPS as mine keeps jumping from the route and its about 5-10 seconds behind.....if anyoane has experinced this matter please come forward and explain why...althought nice application.

You have to connect in the mass storage mode, then go to my computer in windows.
The memory card of your phone will be displayed there.
You enter the memory card and you will find the system directory there.
In the system directory there is a apps directory.
In there you enter the route 66 directory and there you have to make a new directory called maps.
Then you place the map file you downloaded in the maps directory.

[REL] Route66 Mobile 7 - 7.3.468 - Support with N95 internal GPS

This package is known multilanguage Symbian Route 66 Mobile 7 v2/3. Only this package mysteriously works well with internal N95's GPS receiver !
It does not ask BT connection at startup and doesn't exists the item "STANDARD GPS" in preferences --> navigation menu. Incredible... but, after some time, satellites fix happens by N95 inside GPS receiver!

First fix may take up to 10 minutes or more.
next fix less then a minute.

No need to open internal GPS status application (even if you want see how much sattelite available)

Maps not included.

- Extract rar,
- sign the sis, (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=146714)
- Install signed app.
- Copy your maps (not included) into system/apps/ROUTE66/maps
(you need maps for symbian, not ppc)
- Test application
- If activation required, choose activate via itnernet and digit <16> character. Make sure 16 and not more!!!

If don't work, try formatting minisd AND hard reseting your phone.

- Problems may appear if you have previously tested other Route 66 version with different ApplicationID (Not original may have different AppID, this release should have the same AppID like original).

- Just resetting phone may not be enough because at restart the phone install signature from microsd.

- Just formatting microsd may not be enough because phone store signature into internal memory.

- If it crash calculating path, try another map.

Tested on N95 - fw: 11.0.026
Tested map: Italy.prm 1.7 (from Route66_Mobile_7.0.989.iso)

MY 2 CENTS WORTH
Route66 Mobile 7 - 7.3.468 workS very well on N80 with external BT GPS. The prompts are 50 to 100m before U get there. ALL FUNCTION WORK VERY WELL.

Now the same ver on my N95 with internal GPS is Very slow in my car and somtimeS looses itself.

I think the quality of the N95 GPS receiver is very poor and it looses the GPS signal all the time indoors. Outdoors and walking no problem but no good if U in a car or house. " SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE "
SO N95 AS A NAV TOOL IS USELESS UNLESS U ARE HICKING??

HI mate.i am trying to find route66 australian maps but it seems there are non-in the forum since i searched.Alot of australian users are finding it difficult to find maps.PLus matey i want to install route66 but there are many threads its confusing.If there is one specific thread which you can install even if it has to be signed i am willing to do it.But every time when i install route66 it says resource files are missing.And every one suggests to put the maps in the folder but i;ve already tried and it doesnt open still says resource files are missing.You might be aware of all the posts i have done.But to tell you the truth mate, i am having difficulty in just downloading it and putting the maps.If you could help me locate the original thread from where i can download route66 and australian maps i would appreciate it ,if not than thank you for your time reading this.

Use this activationkey, just copy over the one you got in your memorycard and it will work.

TO EVERYONE WHO HAS ROUTE 66 CLOSING 2 SECONDS AFTER STARTING:
I just read through the whole thread and this gem hasn't been posted!
If this is happening to you, there is no need to do a full restore of your phone, etc. What a hassle! I've installed heaps of apps, I'd rather not lose them thanks!
The solution sounds weird, but it WORKS.
Goto messages, and either
a. Delete all messages in your inbox
b. Move all messages in your inbox to somewhere in My Folders
then start Route 66. It WILL work, register by typing 16 numbers into the internet activation method. You can move the messages back to your inbox now if you want.

As an aside, I have tried the Australia maps posted in this thread. They work, BUT, not 100%. It sorta works, but starting routes to SOME locations causes it to crash midway though "your route is being calculated" (Westfield Shopping Centre Burwood, NSW for one). Other locations it works great, besides the occasional freeze that recovers after about a minute.
(I've tried disabling all points of interest, and also tried in both 2D and 3D modes)

Has anyone got another version of the Australia map? (the 32mb compressed one here is the same as the 80mb one I found on eDonkey)

Hi, i read all that posts,but i still cant solve the problem.
I have Nokia 6110 Navigator and it has already installed Route66 in phone,when i open system/apps its named Navigator, i tried to leave that original program and i download many maps from different web sites,but when i open navigator all maps are locked,and its written that i should visit store and buy new maps.
i want to install new route66 from that thread,but i dont know if i need to uninstall original Navigator? would be then any problems?

please someone help how solve that problem what i need to do

ps.ok i solve almost all problems,now only one thing all the time is NO GPS (before installing r66 it was all the time gps), i dont know if i have to register with my imei or smth

i dont think there is any other way, the only way i know and i use is by going through symbian-sign website.
i havent been able to sign app lately as well.

i can't use route66 to navigate with gps... i've installed, and the internal gps on my n95 seems working. but when i try to use route 66 to create a route it seems that route66 doesn't use my gps..

any info??

edited: i use australian map.. it seems to work, but sometimes it crash when you try to search non main road..

look on the forum, there are some threads with the directions to create your personal certificate. The certificate (connected with your phone EMEI) allow the file signing. You have to create a personal file .csr with "DevCertRequest_30_10_2006_v2.0" and, after this you have to request to symbiansigned.com the certification and, at the end you'll obtain your .cer file, that you will use to sign unsigned softwares (like as route on this thread)

As it was said many times on this (and others) board: to get a signed certificate you need to have an account at symbiansigned.com. The probelm is that as for now they don't allow registry of new accounts.

Cool, eventually got it working on my N95 no probs (though it took me a while to work out where I was going wrong)

I was having the prob where it would open and then shut after 2 secs.

For all of you having the same prob, this is how I got mine working

Uninstall any versions you've already installed (using the remove option under the file in applications on the phone)

Ensure you've got a properly signed file to install and a relevant map

Install the signed file using the Install App in the Nokia PC suite, install it to your memory card.

Then follow Rayzers excellent instructions earlier on form this thread.

My problem was (I think) that I'd installed the app on the phone and couldn't find the system file that Rayzer is going on about. After I'd installed it I then reconnected selecting Mass storage device (not PC suite) and see the folder on the mem card.

Put the files in the right place as Rayzers post

Then start Route 66

ok i have it working but when i'm, navigating on the road the screens backlight just turns of light after 30 seconds.

I already checked the setting of the route 66 and i set it to always on.

But still it fades out ofter 30 seconds

I evne tried the Phone settings set to maximum backlight time (which is also 30 seconds)

can someon please help me

because its a pain in the ass when driving at night

Try installing best profiles. Then set it so the profile so that when its plugged in, the backlight stays on.
Turn on Route 66 but keep your device plugged in.

If you have successfully installed the version 7.3.468 the system will recognize the internal gps in few minutes (without any setting).
Naturally you have to have:
- mobile with open slide
- mobile outside (it has to "see" the sky

If you want to be sure try with the "finding position" application and look to the satellite status, when you will able to see the positions also Route will fix it.

Is there someone that can explain how Route manage the maps updating? I've found everywhere the same map (dated october 2005) and I've seen that the file has not the release version in the name.
Is it possible to know the version of the map?
I'm used with tomtom, where every 2/3 months there is an updated map...

I still dont understand why the hell they didnt release R66 V8 for the N95 yet.. defies all logic considering that the 6110 (S60V3) is already on this version!

First post !

I have had probs with route66 from the start (N95).
I have signed, installed, sorted map folder, added activation, pasted over different activation spun round ten times on the spot and howled at the moon - I even tried the 'move your text messages'.

So I'm kinda thinking that I've tried every single different suggestion, and spent several days trying !, and worked thru thread in its entirety before asking. . . .

Only thing I can think of is that the maps i'm using are dodgy. Downloaded from this thread from rapidshare.
Maps are:- BritishIsles.maps and BritishIsles.map2

Both from rapid share, still get the resource error. Can someone please confirm if they have got the app working, with these maps, and in this format i.e file extensions.

If anyone has downloaded 'good - working uk maps' from somewhere other than rapid share, would they mind sharing - please.

Someone else asked this previously, and got a response showing the rapid share link ? !

Anyway, help would be appreciated - thanks.

Do you mean this is filenames ? If so, it would never work, map extension must be .prm

I have a question... trying Route66 for 2 days only, need your opinition:
Does it getting lock without using native nokia apps first ? Or i have to run them to get gps data in Route66 ?

For me it seems sometimes Route66 just wont get any gps data until i run native app...

Sorry, but this is my point exactly - in this post someone say to use this link/these files, then someone else says they have to be .prm.

So this is my question, has anyone got these maps working in this format, do you change the file extension, has anyone got any uk working maps OTHER than the rapid share ones ?

I beleive changing extentions cant help. It seems there are different maps formats,
and .map used on another (6110 or whatever) phone with route66. Never heard someone
use this .map on another phone/PDA/etc.

Also, it seems maps (.prm) from another platforms (PDA etc) cant be used on symbian.

So, you have to be sure map you trying to use is 1. for Route66 Mobile 7 and 2 its for symbian :cry:

Thats why I'm asking if anyone has any N95 working maps OTHER than the RAPID SHARE ones that I downloaded from this thread (as per the thread).
