US Marine Scout Sniper

September 20, 2006

Abandon Mobile and The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association Team Up For Marine Sniper Mobile Game

15% percent of game sales to benefit non-profit Veterans’ organization

Abandon Mobile, a worldwide leader in gaming, along with The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association, today announced that they have entered into a partnership for "US Marine Scout Sniper," an upcoming mobile game that will benefit the non-profit and tax deductible organization. The game, which follows a lone sniper as he battles against terrorists and other enemies, will offer mobile gamers a unique take on modern warfare, where a single well-aimed bullet can mean the difference between victory and defeat. "US Marine Scout Sniper" launches on mobile devices this November, with 15% of game sales going directly to The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association.

The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association, founded in 1998, is a non-profit 501(C)(19) Veterans organization that provides Marine snipers with state-of-the-art optical equipment for use in the field, while also providing comfort items to those serving with basic daily needs items and family support when they return. Marine Scout Snipers, known as the “Guardians of the Battlefield,” are an invaluable Marine unit that is known for their long-ranged attack capabilities and their ability to psychologically shape conflict, which is increasingly important within today’s urban warfare environment. A certain percentage of proceeds from the game will go directly to the association for support of troops on the battlefield.

In "US Marine Scout Sniper," you play the role of a new recruit on your way to combat. Your helicopter is shot down behind enemy lines, and as you narrowly evade capture, you uncover a plot to use a nuclear device to destabilize the region. You must use all your skills as a Marine Scout Sniper to infiltrate enemy strongholds, sneak past observation posts, line up the target in your sights, and eliminate each of your mission objectives. Progress through eight action-packed levels, until you neutralize the terrorist threat and can call in for extraction.

“Marine snipers are an integral component in keeping our country safe, and we’re honored to be chosen as the developer and publisher behind such a unique title,” said Jamie Ottilie, President and COO of Abandon Mobile. “Working with The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association helps ensure that not only is our game true-to-life, but also benefiting a great cause in supporting troops both at home and overseas.”

“The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association’s primary objective is in supporting Marine snipers and their families, as well as making the public aware of the unique role and responsibility that this most elite soldier provides to the United States,” said Tom “Moose” Ferran, Chairman of USMC, Marine Scout/Sniper Association. “Abandon Mobile is a company dedicated to quality gaming titles and we’re confident that 'US Marine Scout Sniper' will not only provide mobile gamers with an exciting experience, but provide us with additional resources to do a better job of supporting our soldiers.”

Minigolf Magic

If you ask me, mini golf takes more skill than real golf. We'd see how much of a man Tiger Woods was if he had to sink putts with a clown-faced windmill in the way.

Digital Chocolate has released several mini golf mobile games, but its latest sounds like a step on. Mini Golf Magic, as you might guess from the title, has a bunch of features that aren't strictly realistic.

Like what? Like bouncing borders, fans, magnets, ice, teleports, mines – I'm sure they don't allow that in the real world – and hypno wheels, whatever they are.

The game even features a bonus shooting gallery, and a version of Breakout, while you'll be able to unlock bonus courses and items if you play skilfully enough.

Digital Chocolate also says the game will be trickier than the average mini golf game, which may or may not be a coded way of saying it's teeth-grindingly difficult. Hopefully not.

Like the publisher's previous crazy putting sims, Mini Golf Magic will come out in both 2D and 3D flavours, and is expected to touch down in mid-November.

Rainbow Striker
h**p://[Only registered and activated users can see links]

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Rainbow Striker is a quality soccer game that's currently only available on Japanese handsets, such as the FOMA P902i. It's a shame that it isn't available a little more widely, though, because Rainbow Striker is a surprisingly controllable soccer game that runs at a good speed. The game's controls are tailor-made for effective play on a cell-phone handset, which makes all the difference in the world.

The controls are set up so that the player you're controlling is always in motion. This works since there's never really an instance in a soccer game when you'd want to be standing still. So your player automatically runs, and you use the phone's D pad to move the player in different directions when course changes are warranted. With that taken care of, you only need to worry about a couple of button presses for shooting, passing, and changing players. It's a simple control scheme that's easy to use without feeling terribly confining. If you want to get deeper, you can set up your team's formations before the game and during halftime, but these changes don't seem to make much of a difference at all when you're on the pitch.

The artificial intelligence isn't great, but on harder settings (and with a better team), it'll put up a decent fight. You can either take on the AI in a single match or set up an international cup match, where 16 teams compete World Cup-style. The teams differ in uniform color and star rating, with teams such as Brazil getting the full five stars while lowly teams such as North Korea get one and a half stars.

The visuals in Rainbow Striker are crisp and easy to discern. The audio is limited to a few catchy songs, which play on the menu screens, and the roar of the crowd during games. It's good enough, but not spectacular.

OK, here's a caveat list for you: If you're looking for a quality soccer game and you happen to have a Japanese phone such as the FOMA P902i, Rainbow Striker is a cool little soccer game that won't hold your attention forever, but it's good enough and worth playing...provided you can find it.

And Minigolf Magic will be released for symbian, or only in Java?
Yes only for now... don't think it will ever get ported!?! But you never know.

Minigolf: Magic I believe will be the same as Minigolf: Las Vegas, which was out for Java in 2D and 3D.

Back in May of this year Glu mobile announced an alliance with Microsoft that would allow them to develop and publish a mobile version of Project Gotham Racing and in a recent visit to the company’s headquarters it was unveiled before our eyes. After carefully distracting the product manager Ilya with a sly “look over there” and snatching the handset, we got a few ticks in with the game before having to hand it back, reluctantly.

PGR borrows heavily from its console brethren so players can expect to see a number of the luscious cars and distinct locales to be included. As well, since it’s a game of speed and style, the “kudos” system is also in effect. This means that it employs a style-scoring and risk-taking system that rewards you for drifting, drafting, close encounters and excessive air time. It’s not just how you race, but how good you look doing so, and this game does it well.

For those looking at a competitive format, ghost racing is also part of the plan. Users will be allowed to upload their performance so that others can download and go head-to-head to see who is better. To ensure that your entire group of friends can participate, cross-carrier connections are expected.

The racing is pretty sharp with fast-moving vehicles and backgrounds that imitate real world locations to a tee. Opponents are very aggressive in keeping their positions and the tracks also provide a necessary challenge because they are constantly changing direction. To command the vehicle, only one hand is needed for steering and drifting and thankfully, the movement is tight. It’s not like you’re swerving everywhere and are fighting for control because it feels quite good, even when countersteering during a drift. It’s simple and provides a nice feel.

There is not doubt that the competition for racing games on mobile is stiff with a number of known console and mobile-only franchises already established. PGR is the new kid on the block and is looking to gain notoriety, and already in its current form has impressive visuals, controls and racing action, enough so to possibly make it one of the elite brands on mobile.

Project Gotham Racing 3D by Glu

I've held a candle for Project Gotham Racing ever since it was a young whipper-snapper called Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast console. The latest version on Xbox 360 is a marvellous driving game, and earlier this year, Glu Mobile announced it was working on a mobile version.

Well, the publisher has released some shots showing just how spiffing it's looking, and has also announced the line-up of cars that you'll be able to drive in the game. They are:

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish
Cadillac Sixteen
Ford GT
Honda NSX-R
Lamborghini Gallardo
AMG-Mercedes C-DTM 2006
Toyota GT-One
The game is due out early next year, and Glu says each car will have its own unique physics and engine specs, including top speed and horsepower. For that reason, it's a damn shame it hasn't included the Robin Reliant. Maybe next time.

Prehistoric Park
h**p://[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Ages ago, when our ancestry lived side by side with mammoths, reptiles, and sabre-toothed tigers, their life was rather boring: hunting, cave, fire, meal, sleep, hunting, cave, fire, meal, sleep etc. And so it went until one genius engineer constructed real amusement park!

This game gives you a chance to turn primitive life to a magnificent festival, bring people real fiesta. Build dizzy carousels, unbelievable roller-coasters, Ferris wheels, fear halls and other thrilling attractions. Don't forget that primitive people also get tired and become hungry and thirsty. So you must arrange your park well to prevent people going not only sad, but also uncomfortable. Otherwise you will lose your clients and thus your profit will decrease. You'll have to hire workers to maintain your attractions and policemen to keep order, set ticket, mammoth-burger, dino-ice-cream, and reptile-balloons prices. Create your own prehistoric empire of amusement!

Art Of War
h**p://[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Art of War is the real-time strategy including best traditions of computer RTS: dynamic, artificial intelligence, handsome 3D-rendered graphics, handiness.

User plays on one fighting side consecutively carrying out the missions, during the missions he has to create bases, get resource, set up the army, defend himself and attack the enemy.

Actions take place in alternative present. In 1945, Germany surrendered immediately as the Soviet Army crossed its borders. This event had changed the history and resulted in two alliances’ stand at the end of 20-th century – The North Atlantic Confederation (NAC) including USA, Canada, whole Europe, and the western part of USSR, on one side and The Great Asian Alliance (GAA), including Mideast, Siberia, China, India, and other Asian countries. Tension grew between these two powers over decades. The everlasting arms race exhausted the most necessary resources. Local conflicts aiming to possess territories of strategic importance took place more and more often.

What this all adds up is a serious package for fight fans. You have a complex control scheme that gives you access to some devastating small-screen fight action. I think this emphasis on hardcore mechanics reduces Fight Night's reach to a mere sliver of the mobile gaming audience, though. I respect and understand the point of the Fight Night franchise, but I hoped EA Mobile would include some sort of option for the casual-minded. I guess that's what Super KO Boxing is for. So, the 8.0 score you see is really meant for those with iron thumbs and prefer sim-style boxing over arcade action. But if you like it casual, definitely look elsewhere.

I just visited the EA website, and there are so many games that are out now.
These are what's available now:

1. NBA Live 2007
2. Fight Night Round 3
3. Madden 2007
4. Need For Speed Most Wanted
5. Def Jam Fight For NY
6. Need For Speed Underground 2

These games are awesome. I would've been willing to pay for these games, but unfortunately I can't cause the EA store doesn't support my country (Philippines).

So pleeeeaaaasssssseeeee...If anybody has these games...Please share...

oh yeah baby!I just got e-mail from them!

here:
Thanks for your interest in Elven Chronicles! Sorry to keep you waiting but I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra features and polish that caused the delay in the release. In January 2007, the game will be released on all major European and Asian carriers. Unfortunately, the North American carriers are moving much slower and although it will not be available in North America at the time of the European launch, we anticipate it will be released shortly after. Keep a close eye on the Elven Chronicles website for up-to-date info.

Best regards,
Jason Willis
VP External Development
Big Blue Bubble Inc.

Infinite Dreams "Creatures Of The Deep"

With Sky Force, Super Miners and now K-Rally under their belts, Infinite Dreams are clearly quite good at making Symbian smartphone games. It's no surprise then to find that Nokia are employing them to develop First Party titles for the Next Gen gaming platform, due out in the middle of 2007 across a wide range of Nokia S60 3rd Edition devices.

Infinite Dreams' first game for the platform will be Creatures Of The Deep, a fishing simulator which sports some rather good looking renderings of various fishing holes around the world. There's already an official website (h**p://[Only registered and activated users can see links]) and an official message board, and there will also apparently be online COTD tournaments through the N-Gage Arena.

Game Description

Creatures of the Deep will take you on a fishing adventure like no other! Get ready for a mobile rod-bending and heart pounding experience as you travel to some of the world's most exotic angler destinations.

Cast your line and catch hundreds of fish, sea creatures and unique items to store in your virtual live-well. Sense the subtle bites on your lure with vibration feedback. Compete in tournaments online via the N-Gage Arena to determine who will wear the crown of the ultimate angler worldwide!

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Note: This game will probably be just for S60V3 phones, but I posted it just the same for the benefit of the many I-Dreams fans among the s60 device users here. Time to upgrade mates?

sandy_1988
11th March 2007, 10:21
No man. COTD will run on S60 v2 devices like N70, 6680/6681,etc also. See the trailer from mobileangler.com, and there you'll see the game running on 6680.

By the way, this is one(and probably the best) of the original ideas that have been announced for the Next-Gen N-Gage platform. Eagerly waiting for it.

here's hoping ur right mate, and that it runs in my good ole 6600! though i won't expect it to look as pretty as the screenshots below (which is how it should look like in n-series devices)

anyway, here are two more COTD screenshots - the first is of what it would look like when fishing in costa rica, and the second is from the game's "boat mode" in alaska. another excruciating wait for the next idreams game...

Probably COTD's release will coincide with the launch of N-Gage platform in September 2007.

Nascar 07 looks crap. Another crap product from EA Mobile. The problem with Fight Night Round 3 is that, its availability is poor. One without cingular can't get it. The NeXt group has it, but, you have to buy them some games if you want to join them.

the game is being tested on N73 (240*320). don't expect to get the same display quality in 176*208 devices. also, in the website u mention, faq#2 reads:

Q: which nokia mobiles will be n-gage ready at launch?
A: while we (nokia) have not yet announced which devices will support the next generation of the n-gage experience, a range of compatible devices will be available at launch, with more joining the line-up on an on-going basis thereafter.

so until official announcements are made, right now (at best) we can only hope s60 devices other than V3 models can support it.

nice website, by the way, and great videos.

This video is made by NeXt group, unlike the previous one, which was made by Nokia themselves. That's why logo of FIFA 07 has been used in place of FIFA 08. Actually, the game videos shown for FIFA 2008 seems to be ripped from Pro Evolution Soccer for PSP. Asphalt 3 seems very much like Asphalt 2. Has Gameloft released any screen/screenshot/video of Asphalt 3(N-Gage)? The other parts of the video are good.

here's an exclusive interview with nokia's brandon crick and mike smith on COTD and the n-gage next-gen platform. enjoy! :ilove:

Have there been any fundamental changes in the artistic direction or gameplay of Creatures of the Deep since the start of development?

MS: No. We are keeping the same direction that everyone has seen and has come to expect. Just lots more!

How long has the game been in development?

MS: We started discussions between Infinite Dreams and Nokia back in May of 2005. Actual development has been on and off since then, trying to align our game completion with the launch of the N-Gage platform and the releases of the N-Gage SDK leading up to that date.

Rumor has it that you are working with real-life resorts to help develop the storyline of the game. Tell us more about that?

BC: Yes we have and this has really assisted us in the creation of this “adventure” fishing game. I’ve been in contact with numerous world class fishing resorts that have helped us with local fishing legends and we are using the information to weave into our storyline and adventure quests you can complete in-game. The resorts have been very eager to work with us through providing artwork of their location, lists of the fish and creatures unique to their region, and fishy tales of crazy catches. One example is there is a huge 15 foot long bull shark which has been sighted off the shores of Costa Rica called “Freight Train”. We will have some announcements soon regarding the resorts and exotic locations you can expect to see in the final game.

MS: Grounding this game in reality is very important to me. It gives the game substance and some believability. It also gives us some solid direction in creatures and items you catch as well as look and feel of the many locations we have chosen.

Is there a final list of locations you are going include in the game yet?

BC: Internally we have our own list which we have been working from. We haven’t decided on all of the locations but we can say that in addition to Costa Rica we will be including Scotland, Alaska, and the exciting Amazon region in Brazil.

What kind of creatures will we be catching?

MS: We have gone on record as saying you’ll be able to catch hundreds of things in this game. This includes fish (of course), as well as other non-fish creatures and tons of other fun stuff. Some specific examples are: The Bull shark, as Brandon mentioned, Tuna, a variety of Marlin, different types Salmon and other usual game-fish. This list also includes Norwals, Polar Bears, Kilts and other fun stuff. The list definitely goes on and on.

Is there only going to be one type of fishing rod in the game or do players get to upgrade?

MS: We plan on offering a number of different types of rods, reels and lures. You will be able to go to the resort lodges at each of the locations to trade or upgrade you tackle to something that better fits your needs. These resorts will also be based upon real world resorts for people to explore in real life outside the game.

The online component of the game is still quite the mystery. Tell us more about it.

BC: Our plan is to support online play via the N-Gage Arena which as you know is the community and connected hub of our N-Gage platform. One of the planned online modes is tournament play with statistic tracking. There will be a global leaderboard listing the player’s total catches separated by fish, creatures, and the objects which are reeled in and added to the player’s virtual live well.

MS: What Brandon says is true. The plan is to utilize our online community to expand the experience to something much more social, like what you might find when you really go fishing. Hopefully the Whale-tales and the wild stories will drive people to compete and share more of their fun with many others.

The water in creatures of the deep looks amazing. What is your programming secret?

MS: Since I’m not the programmer on the title I can’t answer that honestly. All I can tell you is, the team at Infinite Dreams are leaders in this industry and continue to demonstrate their amazing abilities like what has been seen in this game.

What ever happened to the winners of that E3 2006 contest?

BC: I have been in contact with the winners and they elected to take their prize trip this fall. We had a huge turn out for the contest last year where the goal was to catch the special “E3 Fish” we put into the game. Over 200 show attendees managed to catch the special fish (many played for hours just to reel one in!) and we held a draw for the grand prize on the final day of the show. One of the resorts we have been working with, Crocodile Bay in Costa Rica, donated an all-expenses paid trip for 2 which was won by Kristin Kerwitz of California. She is really looking forward to the trip and we plan to have pictures on our official site of her monster catches!

Can you tell us anything about Nokia's next iteration of the N-Gage platform?

BC: I’m actually writing my interview answers here at the Game Developers Conference which is where we have a number of speaker sessions about our next generation N-Gage platform. Creatures of the Deep is just one of the Nokia first party publishing games in development for this new N-Gage platform which enables mobile gaming on a range of our Nokia devices. The buzz surrounding the platform is definitely exciting!

MS: I would prefer to leave this question for our Industry Marketing team. My focus is on creating and game and experience that best captures the fun of fishing.

What phones have you been testing the game on?

MS: The game is currently being tested on the Nokia N73. I expect that the game will be on many of Nokia’s Multimedia Computers (N-Series devices) over the coming year and beyond.

Is there anything else you would like to say about Nokia and mobile gaming in 2007?

BC: I can’t wait till our new mobile gaming platform launches this year. Finally we will be able to get this game into the hands of the gamers worldwide. Historically fishing games have been “simulations” of the sport; we’ve approached the sport from a different angle by creating a fishing “adventure” game which focuses on the fun, mystery, and thrill of sports fishing. This is something that hasn’t been done before and we look forward to gamers being “hooked” on our game! Oh, don’t forget to check out our official game site at h**p://[Only registered and activated users can see links]

MS: My goal was to create and experience that everybody could understand and enjoy. So far I feel we are going in the right direction and I’m really looking forward to getting this game in the hands of gamers and non-gamers alike, around the world.

Glu Announces Deal to Bring "Age of Empires III" to Mobile Phones Worldwide

Leading Mobile Games Publisher to Develop and Publish Another Microsoft Game Studios Title for Mobile

Today at the Game Developers Conference 2007, Glu Mobile, a leading global publisher of mobile games, announced an agreement with Microsoft to develop and publish a mobile adaptation of “Age of Empires® III”, based on the award-winning real-time strategy (RTS) franchise for the PC developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Through the agreement, Glu has secured worldwide rights to develop and publish a new mobile game based on “Age of Empires III”, the third installment in the series that has sold a staggering 16 million copies worldwide.

“We’re excited to partner with Microsoft on another of their most valued brands,” said Jill Braff, general manager of North America, Glu Mobile. “Age of Empires is one of the highest-rated and best-selling RTS franchises on the PC, and we look forward to working with Microsoft to replicate that success on mobile.”

This publishing partnership builds on the existing relationship between Glu and Microsoft through which Glu developed and published Project Gotham Racing® Mobile, which launched worldwide earlier this year. “Age of Empires III” for mobile phones is scheduled to launch worldwide in 2008.

“Glu’s passion and experience with mobile games is well-known, and we’re happy to extend our relationship with Glu and see the ‘Age of Empires III’ experience made available to a new audience,” said Sandy Ting, Director of Business Development for Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business.

Qplaze® jointly with GSC Game World company set out work on mobile version of the most awaited project of the year – game «S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl». The publisher of 3D-shooter mobile version will be NOMOC Publishing Company.

«This game became a hit before it was released» - said Andrey Baranovsky, president of Qplaze®, - «And our great experience of creation of high-quality mobile games will be a pledge of the fact, that its mobile version will be no less awaited and interesting. Of course, taking into account mobile platform specificity, it will not be just porting – we will create our, unique mobile product, completely corresponding to the plot and the spirit of original game».

Mobile version of the game «S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl» will be a three-dimensional shooter, with stealth elements and mini quests. For its creation, unique 3D engine will be used, allowing game to work even on weak phone models. The plot of the game will be directly connected to the plot of PC version – you’ll meet known characters, heroes, objects and locations – but, will not replicate it. Also, maximally realistic battle system is provided in the game – with detailed hit model, bullet wounds and real types of weaponry.

Vice-president of Qplaze® Boris Sheulov: «I’m sure, admirers of PC-version of «S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl» will appreciate its mobile analogue. We will make efforts to create beautiful, modern shooter with the history supplementing the history of original «S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl».

At the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco last week, Skyzone and MachineWorks Northwest offered IGN Wireless a turn with the Duke. Duke Nukem, a name synonymous with the first-person shooter genre, has been a subject of ridicule amongst PC gamers that have waited a near-eternity for the mythical Duke Nukem Forever. If these PC gamers had just traded in their WASD in for a number pad, they could have been hanging with the Duke for three years straight.

MachineWorks Northwest -- located in sunny Salem, Oregon -- has been busying themselves with a handful of Duke Nukem releases for handsets, including Duke Nukem Mobile 3D and the side-scrolling Duke Nukem Mobile Bikini Project. But at GDC Mobile, MachineWorks bravely handed off a build of their most ambitious mobile shooter yet: Arena. Arena is a mobile-centric multiplayer shooter that offers up to four-player detach action across a series of levels designed especially for the smallest screen. The demo was a surprise. In one pillar-filled level, I exchanged grisly headshots with a producer during a brief -- but heated -- round of hide-and-seek. The online was seamless and without any recognizable hiccups or lag.

Well, it's seamless when you can get a good signal. MachineWorks showed Duke Nukem Arena at the Mobile Innovation Hunt at GDC Mobile and barely got their match started before their pitch session ended. However, in a basement cubicle the following day, I saw an Arena match boot up in only a matter of seconds. We'll see how a real-world session goes when you're not sitting in the middle of a convention center with 7,000 cellphones and WiFi cards.

Duke Nukem Arena features two additional play modes outside the multiplayer deathmatch: Single Player and Nukem Dead. The single player campaign is split into two halves. You have all 21 levels from the first Duke Nukem Mobile 3D (which were pretty good) to work through again or you can battle AI-controlled monsters in the ten Arena deathmatch levels. To freshen up the original 21 levels, Machineworks implemented three difficulty levels that affect enemy frequency and weapon/health pick-ups. On easy, a courtyard scene is populated by only a few pigcops. Juice it up to hard, though, and your screen is swarmed with pigcops. Every time you drop one, two spawn to take its place.

Nukem Dead is a survival game, pitting Duke against a series of incoming monsters. You only have one life, so avoiding bullets is at a premium. Your final score is uploaded to an online leaderboard.

Control has always been the Achilles heel of mobile first-person shooters, which is one reason why JAMDAT (now EA Mobile) and id Software opted to go the DOOM RPG route. MachineWorks' first Duke Nuken Mobile 3D had decent controls that were refined for Arena. Looking up and down is assigned to 1 and 3, which isn't necessarily easy to get used to, but after ten minutes of play, I started to get the hang of it. And you have to, because enemies will come at you on different planes. Strafing is mapped to 7 and 9. (This is one of those mobile games that use the entire number pad -- take it or leave it.) While I hope that an analog stick will one day be factory standard on cellphones, MachineWorks' FPS control scheme seems like it's as good as it's going to get with current tech.

MachineWorks is incredibly skilled at 3D graphics on mobile. If it wasn't for the quick demo of their upcoming mobile edition of Prey (which looks crazy), Arena would easily be the finest-looking 3D I have seen on mobile. The texture work is solid. Wall textures don't warp like a first-gen mobile 3D game. Scaling is reasonably smooth, but Duke Nukem Moble Arena does not run at a PC-level clip.

Duke Nukem Mobile Arena is set for launch on 3D-enabled handsets in the very near future. I'm curious to see the final polish and I definitely need to see if more time with the controls makes the game easier to play. Until then, let me share these screen of Arena in action. I'm sure they'll make that wait for Duke Nukem Forever just fly by

Prey Mobile

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Pretty much the most impressive mobile game we've seen so far

Prey Mobile serves as a prequel to the console/PC game. You are a poor human being sucked up into one of the alien vessels. And apparently the aliens don't learn from past security breaches, because you're on the loose, too. At first, you have only rudimentary weapons like a wrench to beat aliens to a pulp. As you push deeper into the alien ship, though, you will pick up advanced alien weaponry.

According to MachineWorks, the game will feature some of gravity-defying mechanics, like wall-walking. Aliens will pop into room with both barrels blazing. And all of it runs on MachineWorks' very own RiPP3D engine. The Salem, Oreon-based developer could very likely have a tidy side business licensing out this impressive engine. (By the way, these screenshots are BREW.)

Age of Heroes III – Orc’s retribution

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

There was internal war in the orc’s land for many years. Clan leaders looking for absolute power didn’t know any day of peace. And even in the time they met one common enemy they couldn’t unite their forces.
Elves under the rule of merciless warrior Felengir, intruded into the land of their green skinned neighbors destroying everything on their way. Orc’s armies were crushed, clan leaders killed or sieged in their fortress.
Now only one orc can resist elves - Rackgul, orc’s clan leader who’s warriors died in an unequal battle.
He is the one who can unite burnt country, collect the great orc’s artifact – Khar’s armor, and lead his troops to the victory.

In the third part of the series you will play for orcs – it is known that they are brutal, cruel and ignorant, recognizing only rude power and hating all outer world. But who told that? When you’ll become orc’s leader, you’ll understand – that’s only the part of the truth, and of course, the worst one.
For centuries they saw nothing except endless war. Their ancient military traditions have centuries-old history, their traditions matured in the times of pact with old and fearful god. Yes, they do not have peace and will not have peace anymore, but they have courage, wisdom and generosity. However, you’re the orc’s leader and you can show to the world if these rumors about orcs are lie, or they are completely true.

Your character’s mission is to defend his land; any other work is not your business, you don’t have to deliver other’s letters or grow something in the garden. Any barrier can turn out as a benefit; any creature you meet can turn out as a constant ally in your fight against your enemies, any accidental murder can stop you on your way to the victory. Be ready to listen other’s advices and choose your words carefully – the power of orc’s word is equal to the power of his axe.

- Of coarse, strategic side of the game was changed too. There are more atmospheric dialogues, so your answers are very important now. Furthermore there are several variants of the game ending.
Graphics was reworked too, now it is brighter, and richer; it has beautiful pictures of locations, dialogues, characters, and optimized animation. Phone model list was extended too. See bellow.
Now we want to congratulate all series admirers on publication of this game, now you can spend many hours in the world of “Age of Heroes”. It’ s gonna be a great purchase. To those who still didn’t downloaded this game to the mobile phone we can say – try and win!

All game objects can be subdivided into the quest objects and artifacts.
The first group is used in quests, it is necessary to find them in order to win some reward or to obtain a permit for passage through a guarded land. The artifacts represent more interesting type of objects, as they are able to affect on various parameters of a hero or his creatures. For example, an artifact can raise a power and defence, increase accumulated manna or power of magic; some artifacts contain spells of enormous power that can be applied only by a magician possessing similar artifact. It is hard to gain a powerful artifact: sometimes one will have to engage exhausting battles or to set himself off on a long journey, but the result may surpass all expectations.

You will know about passion and thirst exceeding everything man can feel, about the fate of those who deceived Death itself.
You will know how Undead think and feel.

You will have to participate in the last journey of those who were elves – out of new kingdom of orcs, to a far north, going by barbarian settlements and valleys of mighty wizards, through undergrounds of ancient races and heated rifts of demons, to white fire of the inquisitors of man’s empires, and sharp blades of their paladins – searching the place for dead in the world of living ones.

Looking for power or oblivion.

Features of the game:
Your character is not alone in his traveling. Now, the party of heroes with different characteristics and unique skills is under your command. Your party can be changed; heroes can join it and leave it, carry on dialogues, fulfill quests and come into conflicts.

In the beginning of the game you’ll be able to select the sex and specialization of your character. During the game heroes can get new properties and even completely transform under certain conditions met… one can become liches, others – masters of vampires or lords of creatures.

Your heroes have to fight to survive – to live, they have to devour souls of their living enemies. Soul stones, used to keep the essence of life, also serve them to raise the armies and allow using of magic.

Races:

Undead.
Not only heroes are Un-dead, but those who can be called by heroes are Un-dead too. Skeletons and zombies rising from grave-yards, shadows freezing the blood in the veins of living, nasty creatures created from latest corpses, violent and cruel vampires, and liches, sending plague – these are those who will serve you and will stand under your torn flags.

Demons.
Orcish god’s coming into the world broke its fundamentals, and let into it the creatures making tremble even orc. Demons are mighty and uncontrollable, but they are not numerous, and attached to the portals they went out. Devils are in their ranks, crossing the battlefield in a moment, fiends throwing fire balls and inspiring horror – demonic magicians.

Humans.
An order of Lunar Sword inquisitors was created to separate dead from living, forever. In the time of peace the order keeps borders of human empire protecting valleys of humans’s magicians and keeping them under surveillance – and woe to those who’ll dare to cross the boundaries of allowable knowledge. Inquisitors include – mercenaries who don’t afraid of anyone or anything, thought to fight with horrible creatures of magic; and mighty paladins, turning undead by a single touch.

Orcs.
They had won the war, and beast-god Khar, embodied in the leader Rakgul, sat on throne in the shell of elven Eternal Tree. There are no wood elves any more, and orcs don’t chase them intentionally, but when they meet them, they will never step back and will never have mercy on elves. They have – accurate hunters, fearless warriors, and kharhars – orcish army elite.

Barbarians.
Not numerous tribes of brave and strong people living in the icy deserts of the North are accustomed to meet any danger face to face. They disdain magic, fighting steel to steel – their swordsman are impetuous and fearless, their berserkers wearing animal skins and armed with huge axes compare well even with orcs, and their spearman can throw their weapon to eighty steps piercing any armor.

Magic

Magic of dead ones differs from magic of living ones – as death itself it has special power above life. Dead magicians can send plague to living ones, swallow up life and give it to their warriors, make enemies to grow old for a dozens of years in a few minutes, generate clouds of parasites and cover the battlefield with fog, impervious for eyes of mortals.
Some magicians will be able to master elemental magic and magic of demons – making land to crack under the feet of enemies, scatter their ranks by hurricane’s whirlwinds, burning alive and freezing their warriors. And the few will be able to master mystery of illusions and prophecy – hiding rows from enemies’ eye on the battlefield and gaining sight of the invisible.

Innovations in brief:

• Now heroes don’t travel alone, but in parties. All heroes have unique set of skills and ability to pass to another class;

• Ability to choose the sex and the class of hero;

• Unique armies and racial skills of the Undead. 15 new units, majority of them have special characteristics;

• Yet again battle system is renewed. Battles become more dynamic, new tactical abilities are added, the balance of the armies had changed;

• Magical system has been changed. Magic plays great role in the battle, some conjurations have great destructive effect;

• Magic of illusions appeared in the game, allowing to take enemy’s troops under control, and make your troops invisible;

• The heroes vision on the strategic map is limited by the “Fog of war”;

• For using of magic and raising of new troops soul stones are used, derivable from killed enemies;

• Enemies with demonic, elemental and holy magic withstand heroes;

• Units-magicians (as liches) will be able to use magic by themselves;

• Lots of new artifacts and necessary objects;

• Interface is reworked and improved, interactive cursor is added, decorative appearance is completely changed;

• Graphics is completely reworked and improved – new land, forests, caves and ice deserts are waiting for you;

• Exciting not linear story with two possible endings, lots of different tasks and quests;

• Communication between heroes in the party, talks with enemies and friends – more than 40 kilobytes of the text.

JavArt Releases Minesweeper Deluxe

After creating a whole new Domino experience, Javart is doing it again and will change the way of playing minesweeper. Instead of working on some grid, you now have to disarm bombs in central London.

So there you are, a police officer who is called “Bobby”. Could your name be any more disturbing when serving under the UK Police force? You play the mobile game in an isometric view where you walk around with your metal detector to find some ready to explode WWII (deep sea) mines.

Though the game is pretty much the way we all know it, JavArt did include a Bluetooth multiplayer option where you can play against friends or a CPU. The object of the multiplayer is to uncover the most mines (or at least be the longest to stay alive).

"In few words, the game is cool because it gives more possibilities to play to the fans of minesweeper" said Angelo Rocca, Business development manager at Javart

Some fifty years after the conclusion of the Second World War, it is still a period very much alive in the public imagination. Like the siege of Troy or the crusades it has transcended mere military history and breached the wall into the mythical. It is easy to imagine that, when time has further muddled the waters of our history, names such as Hitler, Stalin or Churchill will live on as pure symbols of evil, treachery or stout-hearted defiance. Thus, we feel, it constitutes an appropriate setting for computer games, particularly such that stray over the line of the real into the realm of the fantastic.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Visually, Phoenix is one of the more impressive mobile games I have seen. The game employs some fantastic lighting effects, such as pools of torchlight that aren't just painted on the floor, but are actual light sources that cast a glow on characters as they walk beneath them. Even better, the lighting tech is actually in service of the game -- it's not just window dressing. In one level, Harry must sneak across Hogwart's during the night, avoiding detection by Slytherin patrols. You must duck in and out of the shadows, making sure that you are completely out of the illuminated zones before one of the Syltherin "thugs" spots you.

The goal of the game is join the assembled Dumbledore's Army (made up of like-minded students) and do battle with dealers of the Dark Arts. You must quest through the cavernous magic institution, engage enemies in wizard battles by playing timing mini-games, and even fly Harry's pet owl to meet certain objectives. According to EA, there is about two hours of gameplay in the Phoenix story mode, plus extra goodies, such as a standalone wizard battle component.

EA uses full likenesses of the actors, so you'll see Daniel Radcliffe and company when entering dialogue sequences. It was far too noisy at the event to hear the game, but EA says the final version will feature music from the movie.

Phoenix is set to launch alongside the movie this July. IGN Wireless will have a full review of the game soon -- but in the meantime, check our gallery of screens to see the aforementioned lighting effects. Pretty slick.

Absolute Lightup Deluxe 3D by global fun

[Only registered and activated users can see links] [Only registered and activated users can see links] [Only registered and activated users can see links]

The 3D version of GlobalFuns Absolute LightUp Deluxe shares the same challenging idea with the original 2D version. The aim is to direct laser beams through mirrors and prisms to eventually Light Up a receptor. In the 3D versions this is done on three different planes and the user can move freely on the game board in all three dimensions. An intuitive tutorial is included for all newcomers. The 2D version of the game is used for devices not supporting 3D technology.

Trap monsters inside magical pipes while trying to match their colours. The monsters jump from the bottom of the display and the player character automatically latches to them. By pressing the key 1, 3, 5 or, 7 the player decides into which pipe-ends the latched monster is trapped. Monsters with same colour will link to each other. When three same colour monsters link together, they will explode. The player has to cause several numbers of explosions to complete the level in a given time. Once completed, the player will move to a more advanced level where other type of interesting monsters will appear: such as black monsters, mushrooms...and many more.

God of War: Betrayal

God of War: Betrayal fills in the gaps between the first two God of War games, when Kratos defeated Ares to claim an Olympian throne and got something of a big head about it. In telling the tale of Kratos' rise before a spectacular fall at the beginning of God of War II, many will tremble at the feet of this warrior-god and many a god will be displeased.

Kratos' first mobile adventure is a 2D side-scroller, not entirely unlike those we saw during the glory days of the 16-bit generation. But it's important to note right away that God of War: Betrayal is not just a cookie-cutter platformer with Kratos pasted over some other non-descript hero. This is God of War, through and through. The action and puzzle elements are very much true to the original PS2 games -- this really is an extension of the God of War universe.

Kratos is all about action, so expect to jam on the 5 button regularly to use his brutal attacks. His default weapon, the chain swords (Athena's Blades) whip all around the screen, slicing up enemies, tossing them into the air, and leaving them on the floor in a crumpled mess. You do not have as many combo possibilities in God of War: Betrayal as you did in God of War II, but there are still several combos such as running into an enemy as you unleash the chain swords. Kratos has access to several other choice weapons, such as Medusa's Head, Army of Hades, and the Blade of Artemis. Each one of these weapons or magic attacks have their own strengths against numerous underlings or vicious boss monsters.

Qplaze announces GWM: Guns, Wheels & Madheads

They fight on the ruins of the past.

Their cars crash in whirlwinds of lead and flames, their rockets do not know how to miss, and six barreled machine guns cut armor as if it was butter. Their mad drivers are the best, and their cars are masterpieces of art, created for battle and show.

They fight in the shadows of the cities, in fritted fragments of ancient capitals, destroyed by nuclear blasts, in Coliseums, covered by oil and gasoline. Crowds hail them, their images fly on neon panels in the sky, and satellites which were military some time ago, transmit their battles to all over the world.

They are the relics of the last war.

[Only registered and activated users can see links] [Only registered and activated users can see links]

Their eyes – replaced by optical sensors, saw the rise of nuclear suns above the states of the past and dozens of local conflicts smashed the world into pieces. Through smoke and dust they watched on orbital cities received some part of the mankind, and on stars of new war lighting in the sky. Without any fear and hesitation they fought in wars of the deserts and served for Barons of roads – new masters of burnt Earth.

Fought – and won.

Their battle cars were perfect, their armor was heavy, and engines didn’t know what tiredness is. Fire of their weapon carved the way to a new order. They defended, they gave hope… but now there’s peace, and there’s no need in them.

They were too mad… their nerves directly connected with guidance systems, their hearts equipped with hydraulic boosters and adrenalin generators, their bones armored with titanium and wires run through their muscles… closer to their cars than to the humans, they could only fight and win – and were unable to stop.

And now they have what they wanted to.

[Only registered and activated users can see links] [Only registered and activated users can see links]

They fight again, in burnt deserts and ruins of the cities, on desert beaches and waste dumps before the cameras catching all their moves. They fight for their Enclaves, as they did before, and crowds cry when see their favorites. People watch their battles all over the world – on holographic screens stretched between sky-scrapers, in tumbledown orbital cities, in virtual stadiums of global information network.

They are gladiators, warriors of fire and neon, their cars stylized as cars of former century, there are no rules in their battles which can’t be violated, there are no referees – the winner lefts the arena on the four wheels, others - in reanimation box. They don’t fight for honor which they had forgot, nor for glory which they already have – they fight because they can’t live in other way.

They fight because they are mad.

Their cars are the works of art of war, stylized, armored and deadly. Each of them is the part of memory of the past, of wars of roads and deserts, of blood and glory.

Each of them is unique.

Panther – fast and maneuverable raider, car of dusty desert roads and transient battle. It can run away from homing missile, and pursue slow enemy and its weight allows ram attack – but its armor forces its driver to avoid head-on collisions.

Pacifist – military transport, stylized as wagon – is not as harmless as it. Well, it can’t win the straight line race, but its rockets can come up anyone, its armor can withstand a few direct hits from «Zeus» cannon, and its powerful engine can take him out from any scrape.

Marauder – heavy off-road, terror of sand-drifts, in the past it was a perfect vehicle of escort. Its arguments – powerful ram and not bad maneuverability – would be nice to be supported with something else, like paired machine gun «Volcano».

Guardsman – created for active defense, maneuverable and well armored, Guardsman give many troubles to its enemies. Its ram hit is not very powerful but it’s hard to catch it into sight, and sometimes its rockets appear just from nowhere.

Whirlwind – the fastest from road warriors, red fighter, able to overtake its own rocket. Its credo – powerful and fast blow from the distance, its speed and maneuverability – it’s main advantages. It is not strong in ram battle and blows exchange.

Destroyer – the heaviest and armored of all cars, battle bulldozer, able to smash the enemy without any weapon. Its armor can withstand mortar salvo, and many enemies were just crashed by it in the times of Road wars.

They all accustomed to die and rise again in cybernetic reanimators, each of their cars was crashed and burnt thousands of times…

They are gladiators – dieing is their work.

They fight on the ruins of the past, in the shadows of the cities, before thousands of cameras and billions of people…
