XCPUScalar 2007 allows you to dynamically scale the processor speed of your handheld Pocket PC 2003, 2003 SE, and Windows Mobile 5. Use Auto Scaling to assign speeds to different CPU loads, It uses the power of the XSCALE or TI OMAP processor and unlocks its dynamic scaling capabilities. You can reduce the speed of your handheld or increase its speed automatically depending on CPU usage of your applications. By scaling the processor speed down, you can increase the battery live between recharges or increase the speed when you need more power for playing games or multimedia programs that require more CPU power. The speed can be scaled from 100 to 728MHZ and upto 265MHz bus speeds. You can even shut the LCD while listening to music to save more battery life.

Compatibility:

XCPUScalar should work with most XSCALE and TI OMAP devices on market including: XDA Atom, XDA Atom Exec, HP iPAQ 6828, Treo 700w, Samsung I730, Mio A201, Mio A701, MDPNA, HP iPAQ hw6515, hx21xx, hx27xx, hx24xx, Dell Axim X51v, o2 XDA II executive, HTC Universal, i-Mate JasJar, Qtek 9000, Sprint / Verizon PPC-6700, Orange SPV M5000, HTC Apache, HTC Magician, XDA II Mini, MDA Compact, Qtek S100, XDA IIi, i-mate JAM, i-mate PDA2, Orange M500, VPA Compact, HP iPAQ 2410, 2750, HP iPAQ hx4700, Loox 720, Dell Axim X50v, Asus A730, MDA-III, Axim X30, X50, iPAQ 415x, iPAQ 435x, Axim X30, Axim X3, Asus A620, Asus A716, XDA, XDA2, Toshiba e800. Hi, Great post except that on my MIO A701 the 3.03 uses up CPU continously. on 3.00 I have no problems but upgrading to 3.03 gives me a massive 20-40% CPU USAGE - What is this app doing that takes up CPU?

For a while I used it to set the speed then killed the app to get rid of the huge CPU usage is brought. Finally I went back to 3.00

Anyone else having this problem?

I guess this wont work with WM6. Coz it stated clearly for WM5 and WM2003Se. If youu want you can make a try with TYTN. But, I cannot confirm you. Moreover, I use the device of WM5 and not WM6 to test and report.

The program doesn`t allow me to overclock beyond 624 MHZ (normally 520 on my MIOa701) unless you activate a special option which warns you not to use it.

I think the PXA-270 in my pdaphone was designed for 624 and is defaulted to max at 520 so there is no problem in using it at an increased speed (apart from battery life, which is not a problem when plugged in of course).

Set it above that and sure some processors will die or burn out quicker than normal, hence the warning. Sorry i don`t know if this has happened but you`ll need to google for a more specific forum to your own phone I imagine..

Works on o2 ATom aku3.3.3a.
Things to note,
1. Do not go beyond 520Mhz as it will hang
2. High CPU usage (reading from batterystatus is as high as 100%, while reading from Task manager 0.09-0.68%) ??
3. In conjunction with the above point 2 mean slightly batt drains noticed even at standby :(

My Mio is a WM5 PPC (touchscreen) and the program XCPUScalar works fine (except for the newest version getting a high cpu usage - can overclock to 663MHz without issues..

Maybe I misunderstand what you are saying, and I don't know the O2 stealth personally, but try it - it probably works!

Tried it on my O2 Stealth with WM5, but when I apply the auto scale speed, the screen turned blank. Hence, I soft reset my phone. Probably the processor does not support this application coz my stealth's processor is PXA272 not an XScale as mentioned above.

Anyway, hope to have this kind of application compatible with my phone. Thanks!

I don't think this is useful on 624Mhz processor, as the maximum number for overclocking is only at 624 top.
Thought this app could go over 1000 Mhz ^_^

It might work fine on lower processor device though.

Great post anyway.

For my X7500 624Mhz processor. Below are the benchmark(SKtool) after using this software:

Speed___Integer___Floating-pt___Ram-Access

312Mz___153.5_____4.1_________1360
624Mhz__306.51____8.198_______2182
663Mhz__327.62____8.78________2276

The 'Draw-Bitmaps' test results remain the same accross all speed settings. And it hangs when I attempt 728Mhz.

All in all, it does dump-up the performance of my PPC,ever so slightly. But it works. And I will use the autoscale mode, set to scale from 208Mhz(1%- 15% load) upto 663Mhz(70%- 100% load), as it supposed to save battery and stuff, so..enjoy.

For my HTC x7510 advantage 624Mhz processor, when I try 728 Mhz, it freezes my pocket. My scale is from 312Mhz(1%- 15% load) up to 624Mhz(16%- 40% load) up to 663Mhz(41%- 100% load) . Since i installed XCPUScalar 2007, my ppc turns like a bolid......

I decided to uninstall it after 2 days trial. My PPC is native 624mhz,and it usually last for 1day(medium to heavy use), and 2days (light use).

So, for sake of further power saving,I try to autoscale the speed from 208Mhz to 520mhz,in hope that it will last even longer than native 624mhz. But it didnt, my battery drained dramatically quicker! its drained in half a day! Mayb with this program, it constantly makes the processor to scale up & down its speed, and that used-up more energy than it should.

Anyway, a constant 663mhz mode really speed things up!
