Your phone might look different, but the same general principles apply.
The 5-way scroll
Get comfortable with the 5-way scroll button (outlined in red in the image to the right).
Use the 5-way for up/down/left/right arrow key selections.
Press down on the center of the 5-way to select an option or menu item.
The soft keys
The left and right soft keys (outlined in green in the image to the right) correspond to the left and right menu options that appear on the bottom of the screen. In the image to the right, the left soft key will select "Options" and the right soft key witll select "Back".
You will be using the 5-way scroll and soft keys a lot.
Know them. Love them.
Running ZoneTag
1. ZoneTag will be listed on the menu page. Select ZoneTag and start the application by clicking on the center button.
2. You will get a ZoneTag options screen. Select "Back" using the right softkey to go back to what you were doing before on your phone.
That's it! ZoneTag is now running. Just take pictures like you normally do and ZoneTag will take care of the rest.
After you take a photo
1. If ZoneTag is running, a dialog will pop up asking you if you want to upload the photo to Flickr or not. If the dialog does not show up, then ZoneTag was not running when the photo was taken. See above for how to run ZoneTag on your phone.
2. If you want to upload the photo to Flickr, select 'Yes' by clicking on the left softkey.
3. To change any of the settings (add tags, apply location tags, change photo privacy, change photo visibility and set photo title) use the 5-way to navigate (up/down) and select one of the options by pressing the center of the 5-way to edit.
When you are done, select "Upload" by pressing the left softkey to send your photo to Flickr.
Tagging your photo
1. Select "Tags" in the ZoneTag upload options.
2. ZoneTag will show you a list of suggested tags.
3. Use the up/down keys to navigate through the list of tags.
Use the left/right keys to see different tag categories.
The category name appears at the top of the screen. The category "All" will show tags from all the categories.
4. You can type in a tag that you're looking for in the find box at the bottom of the screen. The list of tags will be filtered by what you type.
5. When you see a tag that you want to apply to that photo, select it by pressing the center button.
You will see a check mark appear next to the tags that you have selected to apply to the photo. The tags you selected will appear under "All" category.
6. If you are unable to find the tag you want in the list provided, select "New Tag" using the right softkey.
Enter your new tag in the resulting popup window. You do not have to use quotation marks for tags containing spaces.
8. When you are happy with the tag selections you have made, select "Done" with the left softkey.
You will see the tags you selected appear inside the "Tags" box.
Configuring tag suggestions
Initial Install
When you start ZoneTag for the first time, ZoneTag will ask you for permission to connect to the server periodically to download list of suggested tags.
If you choose "Yes", you will always get a list of tag suggestions for your photos.
Whether you choose "Yes" or "No", you can change this setting any time. Just see below.
1. Select the ZoneTag "Options" using the left softkey from the ZoneTag start page.
2. Scroll down to the menu option "Tag Suggestions".
3. Press the right arrow key to see the submenu under "Tag Suggestions".
Select "Settings".
4. You can now choose to allow or not allow ZoneTag to contact the server periodically.
Using a Bluetooth GPS with ZoneTag
1. Make sure your Bluetooth GPS device is on.
2. Under the ZoneTag "Options" menu, scroll down and select "External GPS"
3. Choose "Start". ZoneTag will now search for nearby Bluetooth GPS devices to connect to.
4. From the list of devices, select your Bluetooth GPS device for ZoneTag to use.
5. Once ZoneTag is connected to the GPS via Bluetooh, it will display the current GPS reading. Photos you upload and choose to have location tags will also be tagged with the GPS coordinates.
