Hello, I have been reading the forum for a while now and this is my second post. I have searched but not sure if i missed it. Are there any updated maps for USA for TT510? I currently have VERSION 6.525 and MAP V665.1293. Is that the most updated map for USA/Canada? If not, where can i get an update copy? Thanks

Are you sure you have been reading the forum?

Yes there is an updated version of USA/Canada. It is version 6.75.

I would suggest getting the North America map though if you have a 2GB card. The latest version is also 6.75.

Search in the map thread and you WILL find it.

I do have the Sandisk 2GB ULTRA II disk. I will do the search again, thanks. Why do you suggest the North America map over the USA/Canda map. I have the USA/Canada map now. on the stock unit.

The USA/Canada map is a stripped down version of North America.

North America has more POI's, shows more detail i.e. bodies of waters, side streets.

thanks tt1. i saw the post where you were asking about the NA maps also. So did you get it installed on your TT? Is it a big improvement? Did you format your SD card and installed the new maps? Did you just unzip the files into the SD card or was there more to it?
Megaupload only allows us to download 1 file every 8 hours. Any tips for installation?
Thanks

Yup, I actually have two NA maps because I have a 4GB card. I have NA version 6.75 and 6.50.

I like to keep the 6.50 map because it still contains one way streets that don't appear on the 6.75. I don't know why that is. The 6.75 does have roads that aren't showing on the old 6.50. I guess it really depends in your area.

I didn't format anything really. I just stuck my SD card in the slot, HOME recognized it and I just copied the maps to my card.

good idea tt1 about the 4gig card. I opted for the 2gig card ($20) as to the 4gig card. May as well have got the Go 910 then :)

I just carry around the 1gig card with the 665 can+usa map and on my 2gig card the 665 (navteq) from a Rider

Did you use winzip to unzip the rar files? So after you unzipped them did you just copy the files on the SD drive and thats it? Which 4GB SD drive are you using? Do you have the make and model so i can order one also. I have a 2GB SANDISK now.

Does the 910 have an internal 20GB hard drive and also the 64MB SD card? If thats the case, they are having a sale on the 910 for $310, and i got the 510 for $275, i can still swap it out, i have only had it for 14days.

You should stick with the 510 because Zibri's crack offers the same functionality of the 910.

Yes, the 910 does have 20gig hard drive, $320.00 is a great price for the unit, I paid more for mine, but I love the 910, its seems to be very good. but I need an updated map for the centrail US.

Thanks, i read somewhere that the 910 offers 20GB internal space along with the 64MB SD card, so i was thinking for another $25 difference between the 510 and 910, i should just return the 510 and get the 910. Suggestions?

Well if its a $25 dollar difference than might as well go all the way.

After i get the 910, i will just have to update the map to the 6.75 version, unless its already in the unit. I am not sure how long its been on the shelves for.

Yeah, that won't be a problem.

In the UK some have been there since Xmas. They are increasing unavailable now though.
If you buy a TT and the map is out of date usually you can pressure TT in giving the current one anyway.

thanks, i will do that. when i get the new 910 i wil chec with them to send me the updated map. If they decline i will just download from here. Can i use winzip to unzip the .rar file and send to the SD card?

fordprefect

No. Use winrar to unpack the map folder on your PC.
Then copy the map folder to the TT's top level using windows.
You'll have to use the keygen if TT don't give you the map update.

thanks, i was thinking of formatting the SD card and then installing the new map on there, is that advised? or will the old map be over written once i copy the new map to the SD card? Where can i get the keygen? BTW< do you own a ford? what model?

I just started to extract the files, i made a folder called NA Maps and i am extracting the 4 files on there. When i started to extract the second file, its asking me if i want to replace the 1st files. I clicked on yes. Should i extract each files on different folders or same folders?

ddry999

You will need to upload to a different file only if the maps are a different verision, Keep the latest verision, then go to your TomTom one to update your TomTom..:supz:

what i have done is formatted my SD card, now i am coping the NA maps that i unzipped to the SD card, then i will connect to HOME to upload the application file. Am i correct? once i turn it on, do i need to input any keygen or codes?

Its a multi-part rar, you only need to extract from the 1st one, it will find the others.

Your on your way, keygen should not be needed if you did not need it to download the maps.
Have fun and enjoy.Drive safe.

I have a GO 510. Will a 4GB card function in it? Which card (make) do you recommend?

Thanks,

Yes a 4GB card will work.

Mine is a Transcend SD card (non-sdhc). There is another brand that works that I know of but can't remember it.

I just ordered the 910, the guy said he can get me one for $300, so i think thats a very good deal. The 20GB internal hard drive is very nice, and i also have a 2GB SD card, i can use that for music and use the internal for maps.

Sorry, don't know where you can find a good price on the net. I'm sure though you can find it on eBay for a good price.

I bought mine locally at a store for $80.

Thank you tt. I can't wait until it arrives. I so want to load the North America map and computer voices. When I load the NA map, will it give me a choice of which one to choose?

Yes that's correct, there is an option to manage maps. You also can also change the name of the map for easy identification of the version, but when you get the SD card you can ask then or search for that answer.
