Okay, basically you connect the hard drive to your ps2 via USB. Then you put in the boot disc they send you. It loads up the USB Extreme software. Then you tell it you want to dump an image. You then put the game disc in and it dumps the image onto the hard drive. You can also download games over the internet. The you use the program HDL_Dumb while the external hard drive is connected to your computer to transfer them over.

I use the internal hard drive on a fat ps2 with hdadvanced, so it might be a little different for external drives and USB extreme.

You can buy it online only at these places:
http://www.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_where_to_buy.asp

You might be able to burn it and then use swap magic or something else. I don't know how to do it though.

Yes it works with the PS2 slim.

yes ... you can but it will only increase your loading time... at some sites there is info and i have heard that u can diretly connect hdd to ps2 (both fat and slim)... and the problem with hd advance and extreme are that some games donot work..... better got to ur store and ask if they can directly connect to ur ps2 .... there are some websites which have the pics and procedure ...... dont have the time and money to venture o my own will have to wait till exams get over

usb advance is aim at people with slim ps2 since they don't have the BIG network adapter in the back like the fat ps2....HDadvance work with a HDD plugged into the network adapter...

No matter which one you get, you will need to be able to boot cd-r/dvd-r if you plan on downloading USB advance or HD advance.

If you spend some time around actual ps2 modification website and do some searching you will find your answer. It's been documented all over the net. good luck.

Key word for search on google: hdloader + howto, swap magic, cogswap (memory card hack), etc. I use to visit ps2-scene alot but not anymore (ps3, duh). I think they change to psx-scene now...go there and do some reading...The best way to learn something is to read and read a lot, that way, you'll understand the whole process. People tend to get annoy when new-comers don't search around before asking questions. Goodluck searching.
