Guys Just want to know.... which is better, Smartmovie player or Divx player... thanks in advance...

15th September 2007, 21:07
IMO smart movie is much better...
DivX is still a beta version...
You can even try core player...

JF-GINO
17th September 2007, 22:52
Core Player is the best if you install Divx or xvid codecs separate.
I use Core Player becasue I can put a 720x480 DVD quality Divx rip of any movie on my N95 and it will play it Perfectly at 30fps. Even with perfect stereo sound.

If you hook it up using TV out, Its like a portable media player! Only thing is each video is 720megs and you can hold only a few on a 4 gig card.

If you re-encode your movies and videos to 640x480 640kbs with 80kbs stereo sound, each movie only becomes like 400megs. Almost perfect quality on your cellphone..... Try it with Core player and you will see this works. Of corse you would not do this if you where only using the phone screen to watch movies, or if you where not lazy and could wait overnite to re-incode to a much smaller spec.

Anyway, Install both smartmovie, Divx player and coreplayer - you will have the best tools to play videos of all types - including mp4 from the native camera - coreplayer will do that.

In the previous version the audio in high bitrate videos tend to lag behind and get out of sync after a few minutes of play. The longer the video plays, the more out of sync it gets. While this is not noticeable in short clips of 5 mins or less, but definitely an issue when watching logner 30 mins or longer videos.

I don't see anything about this being addressed in the updates.
Does this version also suffer from this sync issue or has it been fixed?

I can't get the app to find my video? It just has "No files found", even if i refresh the list. Is there somewhere specific i'm supposed to put the video files, cause at the moment i've tried putting in root folder of memory card, and also videos folder.
I've output the file using SUPER, with a MP4 output container, and a DivX codec. I suspect this is not right and that's why the player doesn't recognise it as a divX file?

What's the best output settings? My celly is 320x240 (6120c).
thanks

EDIT: ok i tried AVI containter, with DivX codec and it worked. Still would like to know best output settings people use.
Audio got out of sync too much, even after i altered it, it went out a minute later.
