Finally, New Jakarta map

This is Jakarta application that can be installed in all phones, also in Nokia Symbian, UIQ P-Series, SE M, K and W Series.

1. Install trekbuddy application: copy all folder to your phone in e:\other. Select jad file and install in application menu.
2. Go to application>trekbuddy>more>permissions>Read/Write user data>never ask
3. Download jakarta map data in this link: h++p://indoupload.net/files/10584/jakarta%20map.rar (96.61 MB), Copy to e:/other/thekbuddy/maps... (i had provided the folders)
4. Run trekbuddy application, right menu: more>load atlas>e:/>other>trekbuddy>maps>A_jakarta_gunther>A_Jakarta_ Gunther_r02.tba>L0>L_map>Yes

You will get the Map Jakarta in Layer 0. This application consist of 4 layers: L0, L1, L2 and L3. L2 is the most detail map. L3 is image from Google Earth. Press 7 to change the layer.

Actually this application is for GPS application. You can see your position if you have GPS device that connected with your phone.


I have install this application in K800i and W950i, P1i... work very well.. amazing.
Nokia 6300.. has problem when load atlas, but you can use load Map
Nokia 9300.. work good, but slow, maybe cause 9300 has not enough processor.
I never install in any symbians. For symbian please download, and read the instruction (in bahasa) in my attachment below.

Do not install "jar" file but "jad" file. Copy those both file in the same folder such as "Other".

What do you mean? Upload in rapidshare? No.. thank you. I hate rapidshare.
I believe that indoupload is very fast server for you to download a huge files.

Does anyone succeed install the app on symbian or N80 particularly?
Since I can't get it work correctly. Don't have the option 2 below, so it keep asking "Allow application to read user data". If I click yes, it keep asking me the same question. if I click no, I got java permission error.

install from jad, not from jar.. and then set your permission.. i don't know how to set the permission in nokia phones.

on nokia phones setting for permission was on "app manager" (application manager).. you can set the permission from there.. on app manager>trekbuddy>option>read/write data permission> never ask.. on my friend N73 its works..
try in and let us know.. have fun..:)

For you that use Nokia 9300, you will get trouble when install terkbuddy. You must set your certificate manager first before install trekbuddy.


Go to: Desk>Tools>Control Panel>Security>Certificate Manager>Other>Thawte (& Premium) Server CA>View details>Trust setting>Application installation>Change>Yes>Java Installation>Change>Yes>Done

Install Trekbuddy.jad (not Trekbuddy.jar)

Go to: Desk>Tools>Control Panel>Data Management>Application Manager>Trekbuddy>Details>Privacy permissions>Read/write data access>Always on

May be there too much application in your phone. Usually symbian phone has application that work in the background.

I think this application will work on P990, because I have try in UIQ phones such as P1i and W950i. And its work.

Mr. Siswantono, thx for the advice on installing the JAD file rather than the JAR file, now the trekbuddy on my P990 never ask such a midlet permission, i've tried also on my N73, since it has a different security setting for JAVA, i've spent a little while just to find how to set the permission to "only ask once".. and it works...

And now, time to buy GPS receiver ( HGE-100 ) which will cost around 700 thousand IDR

hey i`ve got a problem. i cannot instal trekbuddy jad file on my k800i. how can i fix that? i can instal jar file but i cannot allow it ot never ask for permission.

You must copy both of file to your "Other" folder, install the application from the phone with jad file, do not install it directly from the computer with bluetooth or data cable. If you have K800 with the latest firmware R1KG001, you not necessary to install from jad file. You can install directly from jar file, and you also can allow the permissions. My advise: backup your phone now using "My Phone Explorer" and then go to the SE Center for upgrade your phone, or upgrade your phone by your self if you can.

i have nokia 6275i (has a built in gps) and p990i
can i use the program in p990 with external gps from 6275i ?

ps: i also can't change the permission setting in nokia 6275i

This application should can be installed in P900i, but i haven't try yet.
I also never try with external GPS, but it you can try.
Nokia setting... I don't know. I don't have NOKIA.

Please do not confuse with tar format.
You just need to follow my instruction:

This application is new, released in the end of 2007. This application should can be installed in windows mobile, but i haven't try yet. Application file that i post here is for java or symbian phone, If you use smart phone, you can download thekbuddy application in here

Please install those application in your windows mobile phone, and then install/copy map files that i post in this forum with the same instruction.

Have you copy both of Jad and Jar file into "OTHER" in you memory card?
Have you install Jad file from your phone? or from your computer?

actually, i had 2 version TB jad & jar format (207 kb jad & 142 kb jad file). is it 207 kb the new version?

last night i tried to installed 4kb jad & 142 kb jar file in my k618. but i cant find permission menu (like u said: 2. Go to application>trekbuddy>more>permissions>Read/Write user data>never ask).

then this mornin, i tried the new one (jar & 207 kb jad), but operation failed when i tried to install it in my cellphone.

Go to Application, select "trekbuddy" do not enter, just select... look at to the right softkey of your phone, you will find "more" menu, if you enter you will get menus such as "Move to folder, move to phone, Delete, PERMISSION,... etc".
Select and enter to "Permission menu": you will see menu such as "Internet access,... Read user data, Write User Data, etc.
Select and enter to "Read user data"... you will get menu: "No, Always ask, Ask once.. and NEVER ASK". Do also to "Write data user" menu.
I'm sure all of SE phone have this menu, even Nokia also has, but in different options.

I think It's very easy to use, you need to browse the file only once when you open this application for the first time, next, everything will be saved in your phone memory. Just move to the map that you want, and zoom to the level that you want. Simple very useful.

It should work on P900, I haven't try yet, but i am sure this application will work in UIQ phones. I have try on P1i and W950. Maybe you should re-download trekbuddy application in here ht+p://linuxtechs.net/kruch/tb/forum/index.php

It may work on UIQ3, but not for UIQ2 (P900). Has anyone tried this with P900? Most apps that works on UIQ3 will not for UIQ2. I check on the URL above, and seen no doc to support P900/UIQ2

Yes you can move the map using touch screen... but your touch screen function is like keyboard, top is up, left is left, bottom is down, right is right.

Now, I used "Trekbuddy v0.9.81" for my phone SE C702, & copy to e:\trekbuddy\maps\A_jakarta_gunther.
That map I have change to "tar version", used "fixname.bat" & "maketar.bat"

install sis installer mod.....u might wanna take a look at the UIQ section for hacking tuts etc. It's crucial.
