Anyone who knows me knows I've been the biggest advocate for Tengo Thumb for a year and change now...but this ditty honestly KILLS Tengo and PocketCM imho. It may look a little like PocketCM and handle a little like Tengo, but use it for a couple of minutes and the differences become apparent: this SIP is packed to the gills with innovative features. This isn't freeware: it's being offered for free till December 2007 so get it while it's hot, either at the dev's website or directly here.

Typing on TouchPal is pretty easy: you just need to tap and slide by your thumb. In most cases, you only need to tap tap tap and use the auto-word predition to input the right word; in other cases, you can slide left/right for a specfic letter, slide up for uppercase, or slide down for a punctuation.

It is a problem installing the TouchPal sip on other CE OS languages than English. The reason for this is that in the Stup.Xml file the installer uses %CE1% which points to the \Program Files folder on English OS, but to \Programmabestanden on Dutch for instance. There are numerous other OSses out there. So what happens is that touchpal.dll gets called to selfregister and the creates an entry for the DLL in the registry pointing to \program files\touchpal.dll, which is located in another folder, so in this case it will not work.

Workaround:

1. Install TouchPal
2. Install a registry editor
3. Find the registry key of that SIP under:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{802C691C-EB46-442c-BC54-DC2C42B156C3}
4. Go to InprocServer32 key, change the "default" value to:
"\<your program files folder name>\TouchPal\touchpal.dll"
5. Save and exit
6. Soft-reset your device, TouchPal works now!

sample for Italian user

change to
"\<Programmi>\TouchPal\touchpal.dll"

i installed and reboot my phone (dopod 838 pro) but how to activate it?
does this have conflict with other softwares (ie. spb mobile shell, pocketcm, etc)?

Try in [Setting][Input][Input Method] choose "TouchPal" item, and try write a message and in KeyBoard icon choose "TouchPal" item.

That didn't work for me, I also tried using the IMSelector program and that didn't work either.. Oh well, I'll try again at some point. It's probably my custom modified ROM which I am going to reflash soon because it's buggy :p

Brilliant Program. Successfully installed and running on Charmer on WM6. Although had to play with changing SIP using different SIP selectors to get it to start, but when it did work, it's so fast to respond to your input... just amazing.

can't select it from list of keyboards. its in the list but like all the others (including happy tapping) I can't get any keyboard to set as the default. my htc x7500 always uses only the wm6 keyboard and won't let me use anything else

I've tried sipchange.cab I've tried tweaks2k2 and nothing.... both fail to do what they were created to do.

all the keyboards that I have installed are all on the device memory. I have am using the wm6 that came new with my htc x7500.

does anyone know the secret for this damn problem ?? thank you.

remove all unused SIP and Today Plugin using SKtools and soft-reset.

WM is known not able to handle too many SIP and Today Plugin, thus causing custom SIP unusable.

Just transfer or send the .cab file from your PC to your PDA, and open or run the .cab file from your PDA.

Hey guys, I installed this but I have another problem. In my list of input methods I have several of the other keyboards that I had installed at one point or another but they are still there, even after uninstalling them. How can I get rid of them from the list? Thanks for any help

i have a htc p3600 w\ italian wm05 and it doesnt work.

i've changed the right registry key as Andrea told us in the 1st page but when i try to select it the pda give me an error.

I think the new version has better language support. you can still get it for free, they've just added a pro version which is shareware. im using pro and all it does is tell you to register whenever you switch views. MUCH improved, btw.

for v2 i am usign a d810 it has error like most pple the top tabs are returning error when click on.

for v1, you will realise that when pple call you, it no longer can display the caller display. no name or number will be display. after u uninstall, your input choices will still contain touchpal though choosing it will only return your keyboard.
