View Full Version : SMSScheduler v1.05 (Python stand-alone)...

An application of my own to schedule SMSs. Uses Python but is a stand alone application. It installs fine on my N73 even though it uses a rudimentary UID and is not signed, can anyone else install it ok?

Anyone who has experience with the signing/UID process could you let me know how I should get this sorted so I can make this an official app, any help would be much appreciated.

Any comments, feature requests or bug reports are welcomed.

I'm getting varying reports that it may or may not work when installed on the memory card, I'll look in to this, but it may be best to install on internal phone memory for now, it's a small application so won't take up too much room.

Changelog:

1.01:
Added repeat support (please test and let me know if it's working ok)
Can only cancel edit/new scheduled sms from the select-contacts screen, this fixes a bug where if you edited a scheduled sms, you could only re-choose the contacts if the first date/time/message form had been changed.

1.02:
Only show contacts who have mobile number
Order contacts alphabetically
Show '(unamed)' for contacts without name
Ability to enter number(s) not in phone book

1.03:
Save/load scheduled sms' to disk

1.04:
Various bug fixes
Better scheduling of SMSs, should eat less battery as no longer checks if SMSs need to be sent every second.

1.05:
More bug fixes, was not restoring contact name/number between sessions, should work ok now.
'c' key can be used to delete scheduled SMSs
Changed list item text to first contact name, then '...' if more contacts (cannot fit them all on), then message
Message box is shown to display time till next SMS will be sent
Added option to ensymble to start app with phone, but this may not work due to the app not having an official UID (cannot signup to symbiansigned.com to get one unfortunately)

Didn't notice the "unsigned" bit at the top :( Just installed it, went to use it and it opened and closed on my N95. If I could work out this signing business then I could test it for you on my phone.

well i installed it on my e90 and it works! I'm pretty impressed:)
the UI is still pretty rudimentary and needs some work but it works.

Keep up the good work. We need more apps like this on this forum.

Thanks for the comments, any ideas on how I can improve the UI? Remember that I'm restricted by what PyS60 can offer. Thanks.

Hi. Tried installing SMSScheduler on my N95 but the same problem like the others occured. It just starts then ends. I have it (and the Python as well) installed on my phone memory. Any idea why it runs for some, and not the others?

I think this is a GREAT app and hope I can find out what the problem is and fix it!

Hi Everyone,

You have to sign the sis file first then it will run fine, I have checked it on my 6120c and its working just fine. It doesnt need the permission as earlier.

Well done !!!!

Thanks very much!

It has the same problem that exist on another similar app which has the same name, SMS Scheduler:
Both of them doesn't supports non-Latin characters, like Chinese.
With this app, you can input Non-Latin charactors on your phone and send it successfully. However, the receiver only get ???????? instead of those Non-Latin charactors sent by you..

So sad..
I'm waiting for such a app for a long time. Wish it could be fixed.

signed python and smsscheduler. Sends smses ok on my n73 but app has to be active. Is there anyway to get the app to run in the background, or autostart?

Good effort though!

App wont start on my 6120c. App was signed before installation, and it just blinks (turns on an immediately off)

Works on my e51, but only when program runs.:triodance:
There should have been an autorun option when the time to send the msg arrives

It has to be there...
See in the option if it is not present then...
While in the app press the menu key...
The app will auto hide itself...lol
