View Full Version : S60v3 Colored operator logo

Hi people!

Tired of the black and white operator logo?
So here is the long awaited solution to use a colored op logo on S60V3

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

It's soooo easy. the op logo lies in
C:\PRIVATE\10000850\Logo_262_3_OTA.mbm
the marked part is different for every provider u use. it's the MCC/NMC provider code.

-So all you have to do is create a *.mbm file.
The bitmap inside the mbm is claimed to be 128x32px. But I'm not sure about it.
On the next pages I'm going to post a template which will help you creating your on op logos. There you could see the sizes I use now...
U could use the mbmwizard or the mbmtool by the famous Z-Team!
-Name it just like above but check your provider code.

I didn't try other file types, yet. And I did not try to make a transparent op logo.

Try and post your results.

Have fun.

Great find mate but how can you access the Private directory? It's protected. :(

great find indeed... but won't work unless you have moded your firmware :( unless someone can make a program that will store the image in that directory!

You can use the animspreite to do that too... Just another option. ;-)

Very nice! I hope you will find some more interesting files ;)

@PapaDocta:
You still can patch the file. You have to do it in a small period of time though .. It is accessable while the other files are downloading.
If you got a fast internet connection, its not very comfortable i guess.

You could use NetLimiter though to restrict NSU's download speed.

Well.... the FW need some modifications for that. it's a high risk thing! you'll loose you r warranty and open doors for hackers and viruses on your device.
your you can totally crash your device....

Can you explain the MCC/NMC code more? How do you say 216-15 say? Do you make it Logo_216_15_OTA.mbm or _21615_? ;)

If you used that nokiatool, before you should have the matching name in the folder. if not you need to create it.

You think it's possible using a normal sis file? I have no experience with sisware... maybe anyone could test it?

i tried mbm with a mask but it did not work.
Maybe a png file could be used?

Now it's possible to do it without a fw-hack, but with a lil bit enthusiasm!
See here: [Only registered and activated users can see links]

At this point it only works on pre FP1 devices!

Sure.
Well, I can give you the great mbmtool made by Alezz
It was made in SX1 Times :) *feelin' a lil' bit nostalgic*

It's a PC Tool to work with mbm files.
Also U need something like gimp, paintshop or photoshop to edit the pictures.

I also provide you my oplogo as example.

//EDIT:
I must say, that the point "winswup patchgen" is of no use with actual phones!

Edit. NightShift79, can u tell me which part of screen do i have to cut for oplogo background? 88,2 coords? and 134x34 size of logo?

I've all permession on my N82 but folder C:\PRIVATE\10000850\ is empty so i can't change my logo operator.

P.S. Thanks to bAsem for right solution

NightShift79
27th March 2008, 19:21
@lucasat
you just have to place the mbm file in that folder.

//EDIT:

I have created a template for all of you that want to make their own operator logo with a matching background to the theme.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

-rename the blank.mbm that comes with the package to Logo_602_3_OTA.mbm
-change the marked part to your provider code.
-now move that file to C:\private\10000850 on your device.
-after a reboot you should have no operator logo.
-now it's time to make a screenshot.
-open screenshot and the template with photoshop or an alternative.

The rest you have to do is written on the template.
(you'll find a 240x320 and a 352x416 template in the package)

Hope you get it through my weird english ;)
If not, feel free to ask.

Show us your created operator logos in here: [Only registered and activated users can see links]

///EDIT:
If you're not able to use the psd template u can also rightclick and save the png files in the post.

PapaDocta

NightShift79
28th March 2008, 19:36
PapaDocta is right.

But also I'm not sure about the right sizes
for 240×320px displays I use logos with 132×33px
for 352×416px displays I use logos with 194×49px

those sizes look much better on the devices.

To all those with colour problems, you need to keep the palette fairly basic. I had a few experimental ones that went weird like that, too many colours and shades.

LT try setting colour settings to 16bpp in MBM Tool. Dunno why 8bpp doesn't trun out properly, but i tried with 16bpp on my n82, and it looks pretty nice.

In fact you are using photoshop and you don't wanna use the template,
Here I give u an action for photoshop.

What to do:

-Open a Screenshot with "cleared oplogo" in photoshop
-load the attached "action-set" (don't ask if u don't know what to do!)
-Choose and run the template.

you'll end up with a new operatorlogo-background image.

LordTakyon
7th April 2008, 19:11
As far as resolution goes I use 132x33. My theme has a patterned background so needs a sample cutting, this is the only resolution that works OK. 126x33 does work for me, but the quality is much lower for some reason.

132x33 gives the best image clarity IMO.

After replacing the OP logo mbm file into my directory, I restarted my phone and that was it.......

I had to format my phone and memory card both in order for my phone to work...:(

You do realise you will still need to create the mbm file, hack your phone and and put it in the correct place on your phone? Also, 'black or dark blue background' is not very specific if you want that added too. The colours may not match up properly with the theme.

Lol mate... it's so weird.... I checked the sizes of your op.
Now take a look at mine... On your phone it's 126x33
And on my N82 it's 132x33...

so different sizes for different phones?

@bAsem
I have checked the template again. it seems to be right.
Maybe I told you the wrong size back then. sry.
For N80 I say 194x49 is the size of the oplogo as it's in the template.

bAsem, I would ask you for trying different image sizes in an mbm file on your phone. Would be good to see those logos on a theme with textured background. manually install them. do not use the oplogo changer.
And plz post screenshots.

thank you in advance.

aristotelhs2060
11th April 2008, 11:09
ok i found it.

i recommend these steps for n95-1(and mobiles with same screen analysis)

1)save logo background as bmp sized 132x33 at 16bpp using the action for photoshop and the method posted above(Get OP Logo Background -by NS79).
2)open mbmwizard , import bmp and select add as c24
3)save mbm
4)rename it to Logo_xxx_x_OTA.mbm(xxx and x according to your operator logo)
5)put it inside c/private/10000850 folder that logo exists (thats for hacked firmwares like mine).
6)finally simply set mobile in offline mode and then to general profile.or restart

u see the difference from above? !!!!!at last

NP. Good if it works out good for you.
You're all getting great creators.
OP Logo Artists should post their creations in SHOWCASE - Your 3rd Edition OP Logos ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

Great stuff there.

You do realise you will still need to create the mbm file, hack your phone and and put it in the correct place on your phone? Also, 'black or dark blue background' is not very specific if you want that added too. The colours may not match up properly with the theme.

I know mate, i can edit it on my own... I told what kind of bgcolor i'm using, to match the colours of text nicely... Thank you very much mr. Nightshift :dance2: Rep + to u
