Tested on N6680 and N6600. I assume this also works on other S60 v2 phones.
This tricks maybe known to some people but I just want to share it.
First thing first. I know we can hide files using apps such as Media Safe and Handy Photosafe. But I'm using other method, FILE ATTRIBUTE.
Follow this step;
1. install Lonelycatgames X-plore.
Password protect it from it's Configuration (to prevent people using this app to accessing your files ).
Also set X-plore to "Show hidden files" and "Show system files/folders".
2. create a folder that you want to hide your private files.
3. place your files in that folder.
4. set the folder's attribute to (hidden) and (system).
The folder wont be shown in Nokia's Filemanager and Gallery. In Nokia E65, Gallery still show the folder contents. You have to set the file attribute of the file you want to hide to (hidden) and (system).
BUT YOU HAVE ANOTHER FILEMANAGER such as Fileman and System Explorer, which mean your files still accessible. AND YOU WANT TO KEEP THIS APPS.
Follow this steps;
1. if you are using Smartsetting, remove the app from Smartsetting's start menu.
2. using X-plore, go to, eg. "E:\System\App\SmartFileman". Set "Fileman.app" attribute to (hidden) and (system).
Try launch your phone's menu, the app's icon will be invisible. If not, restart your phone. Upon succeed, you can access the hidden app manually by go to app's folder.
This tricks may sound complicated but if you get use to it, it is the easiest way to hide your private files. BUT expert may find this method "no good" and the files still accessible using pc, card reader etc., but your family or friends usually grab your phone and open your Gallery or Nokia FileManager. At this point, this method still usable.
If you have another tricks, share it here. And if this method raise problem, and you have the solution, tell me.
Note: Rescoviewer and Yedit also can browse your hidden folder.
