Guys am not able to edit the menu screen through my curbide.ui theme maker! Actually am not able to go to that screen only.. Am talking about the screen which we get when we press the symbian button on our nseries!

For me if i do that it goes to message! I want the view within a folder or the main menu! Any clue! I went through the tutorial you told but i was not able to get what i want!

You can only change two background images (in carbide 3.1), don't know about 3.2

That are a preview from the studio, so if there stand 'Applications', it's the same as menu.

That is the only small part which could be changed. The size is 240x27px for 240x320px resolution. All other parts which could changed are bigger.

Use your background image, select 240x27px from the top, copy as new image and save it.

Guys hold on! Am not able to go to that menu screen itself from carbide! If i can go then i can change in no time!
Its for 3 hrs now and continuously i searched each and every option but am not able to find! Somewhere am missing it!

ya bro.. i just wanted to get that 3rd one (you show us this)... and i was trying to get it through v3.2 and so was messed up! being frustrated i started v3.1 and then i got the same but now the same i wont get in v3.2.. Funny.. i think that part is missed in v3.2 or may be am not able to find it!

Well, here is what i did to get all the part on the carbide, using photoshop:

1. select all the 240x320 wallpaper then copy it
2. make a transparant or color background with the size 240x58, then paste it ( the 240x320 wallpaper u copy from no.1) then save it
3. select all the 240x58 then copy it
4. make a transparant or color background with the size 240x27, then paste it ( the 240x58 image u copy from no.3) then save it
5. make a transparant or color back ground with the size 240x20, then paste it ( the 240x58 image u copy from no.3 and drag it up until u reach the bottom part of the 240x58) then save it.
6. as for the bottom part, select the wallpaper 240x320, copy it and make another 240x27 transparant or color background then paste it and drag it up until u get to the bottom of it and then save it.

Hope my explanation could help. if not do not hesitate to ask again.

Guys one more help! For theme making i used to use png icons! When i went through this forum and went through some posts i came to know that we can use SVG icons in theme! But how do i import it in carbide.ui! It seems it doesn't support svg icon? Do i need to convert them?

Carbide.ui also support svg icon. just copy and paste ur icon. i think u can't use drag and drop for svg icon.

Hi where is the screenshot option IN Windows also how did u change the bottom bar in Active application to that windows style I Know how to copy & paste but don't know how how to get windows bar.

But where is the Take A Screenshot option in PC I Really don't know didn't need it uptill now.

Hope you are using vista/xp.. u take screen shot like this:

Search your keybord for a key called "PrtScr' or something related to printscreen.
Press the key.
Open your Paint application ( or got to run command and type mspaint and press enter)
click on Edit --> paste
Now click File --> Save As --> Save as type JPEG( its your wish) --> save!
Thats all
! Hope that works!

To get that just click on it.. and you get images! You need to replace them!

That's the highlight my friend, there r 2 of them, the list and the grid, u could use the one on the carbide and play with the color (just double klik on the components display) or u could make them using the photoshop or illustrator.

The size of the highlight u could see it on the middle bottom/left (the properties) of the carbide and to play with the color also on the middle bottom/right side (the layer)

All i can say, this is strange problem. maybe ur java not installed correctly. do u try reinstall carbide and try again?

this is grid highlight mate. u can make it using photoshop. size was 76x78 pixel. just make a satisfied image, and then use photoshop style to modify as ur wish.

Download svg icons, here from the forum or the internet and use them per drag and drop. Works so as with png icons.

Only problem is that you don't have a preview in windows to know how they looks, i use illustrator to open the icons and see how the icon looks, i'm not sure if there is an svg viewer for windows available, so you can see all icons as thumbnails in a folder, to open one by one is also with firefox possible (but not a complete folder).

I never saw that any theme creator use an icon for the battery or signal indicator. They used the original or created new images with their graphic editor.

Open a new file, example for 240x320px idle, 16x38px (size of the indicator). Now create your image which you like or want (stripes or what ever). Save the file as transparent png and use it per drag and drop. 16x38px is the file size, the image (layer) could be smaller if you want (12x34px as example).

About your photoshop question.
As first you should 'play' a bit with the effects. You can edit every effect which would shown in the layer window. Select one to see the properties of the effect. The image looks very different to the original if you change some effects.

I think it's a calling background (not really sure, know only the previews from carbide, not from a mobile), calling background could you find 'Pop-up Windows -> Call Handling Window'

Yeah u can...u looks very confuse there is a option just click made new packet -->then click no signing..finish ;)

A 3rd edition theme without a certificate will not work on a mobile. If you compile a 2nd edition theme, then makes carbide automatically 'no sign'.

So if your theme are corrupted as you wrote in the other thread, then you make as example a 3rd edition theme and want to install it a 2nd edition device, or you compile a 2nd edition theme and want to install it on a 3rd edition device.


If you have problems with the certificate, then use that in the attached zip file.

from carbide 3.2, i can make my own theme with my cer, but the others cant use it. I can make without signed but i cant use it if i am not sign it, the others too but so much of my friends do not have certificat. I want share my themes like the others (Specially themes master) no need to sign, just download it from here, and install it. Like this thread [Only registered and activated users can see links] if i want that theme i just install it to my cpu and extract it, then directly install it to my phone without i must sign. Sorry for my cery bad english. Thank

Well you can make Carbide sign it - Think there is an option (Where File, Edit etc are) called Key Pairs or something... Can't give too much as i aint at home

Well... It said file corrupt on my N95... Signed it with my own cer and it still didn't work.

re-downloaded the file and extracted on pc and worked... Needs 3868kb space...

Okay... The network logo at the top idle screen isn't visable, the softkey text in the menu was pretty hard to see, had a few icons (very few app menu icons, but a few sub-menu icons - like in messaging)

The scroll bar looked pretty good, and the pop-up menu did too...

Not bad, but i'd make the text easier to see personally...
