At least this worked for me:

After successful installation there should be a folder called "DestinatorApps" right in your root directory.
Just move this folder to your SD-Card, i. e. respective root dir.
After that you might want to re-organize your startmenu shortcut.
Do so by deleting the old entry (\\windows\start menu\apps\Destinator.ink) using your PPC File Browser. Then switch to your SD-Card, open "DestinatorApps" --> open "Destinator" --> click and hold destinator.exe --> click "copy";
Switch back to \\windows\start menu\apps\ and choose "edit" --> "make shortcut" (or so... hard to say for me, as i never saw it in english... :ashamed: )
That's it! (At least it should be it)

Well, Yobie, this is exactly, what I've been looking for so long. Seems like, this is not possible with destinator, which is quite stupid... I really once thought of buying(!) this product... but to me this is a very good reason against this decision.
But I have to admit that I'm not 100% sure, if it's really not possible to "merge" or "join" the maps.
So if anyone has an idea or better a solution, please let us know! :) :happy:

I do have the all india map, but I am looking for city specific maps as they are more detailed.

I need mumbai, hyderababd, Nagpur, Delhi and pune maps. And If I can get the Ahemdabad maps then it would be a gold mine for me.

prats, the India map that Weikath posted is a ONEINDIA from Satguide and it includes the Mumbai map.

I will be posting an updated version of the ONEINDIA Integrated map in about an hour. You can download that too for the Mumbai maps.

ONEINDIA as per satguide is just an integrated version of their cities versions, with no difference of features. I havent done a compare myself

I have seen this problem with Destinator 7.x version and it is very consistent. I did not encounter this with Destinator PN. Pity!!:confused:

why is PN in filename?

My GPS uses Destinator 6.1.7.4 so I assume I need the same version of destcore.dll to unlock maps.

I searched but all links I found to destcore.dll for Version 6 will yield a "file not found" message. I guess those are on old threads.

Can anyone point me to a current location that still has destcore.dll for version 6 available?

Please bear with me.
So I found a .CAB with presumably the whole Destinator 7 in it.

Problem is, inside it I find (besides the modded destcore.dll) a list of files that don't remotely resemble what I have in my current Destinator 6 SD card.

My SD card has a Destinator Apps folder in it that holds the Destinator folder, with the expected Destinator.exe, DestCore.dll, etc, inside, in addition to Language, Skin, User Data, etc, folders.

I extracted the contents of the CAB file into a temporary folder and the result is a collection of almost 400 files of assorted, unrecognizable extension types such as 000ARROW.303, 0ARROW_H.304, 00CAB196.405, 0CAMERA1.252, etc.

There is also one "_setup.xml" file in the list.

As I am a total newb with those personal navigator devices, I know there must be an installation procedure but am at a loss on how to do it.

Anyone care to help?

Windows Mobile CAB files are NOT to be expanded with normal unzip/unrar (etc.).

You copy the cab in your device and you double click the cab (from inside your WM) to expand it and setup.

You can see the proper contents of CAB files with special tools but I do *not* suggest this for you.

From your reply I think that unfortunately this won't work in my device then.

My GPS (an Elgin N3) completely hides the OS from the user interface, I cannot see the contents of the SD card from within the unit, so I cannot click or double click the CAB file from the unit's interface.

I think my only shot would be finding a means of installing the software onto the SD card from the computer, either directly into the card by having it in a card reader in the computer or by using a program that would correctly load the software into the SD card through the GPS's USB port. But, it is not likely that I will find a way to do either of those. :(

EDIT: I eventually found what seems to be the original manufacturer of this device, a company named "MangoResearch". A gadget-review webpage ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) has this info on the device:

Quick search revealed a helpful user (exograpix) has put up the links of MAP MY INDIA software with all india map. Its working fine (tested on my O2 Orbit / Artemis) and has much better mapping and ease of use as compared to Satguide/Destinator
Area of maps checked: Pune, Mumbai, New Mumbai.

To create shortcut in the Windows Start menu

Select the destinator.exe from the storage card, go to windows in the device and select Start menu. Go to programs and paste the shortcut in that folder.

Ensure that you are pasting it as shortcut and not the file. If you paste don't paste it as shortcut then you will not be able to use it.

I made a hard reset on my Mio P560 and now it does not install Destinator 7.I downloaded the file from the first post(main.cab).I put it in the storage card and when i try to install it it says that it is not digitally signed.What must i do?

At last everything is fine.Thanks for your answers.When you open Destinator how much time does it takes for satelites to lock.In my Mio P560 It found 8 satelites yesterday when i tested it but in the map it said "looking for GPS".I went into settings and locked the GPS.Should it lock by itself or must i make everytime this procedure?

12 min is far to long especially in open area i have MIO P 550 and after a few days off ( sometimes after a week) it takes 1 min the most to lock satellites and if i use seasgee a freeware program then it takes less than a minute

i don t have mio .i have cruise and it locket ed satellites in 10 sec.but the first time you must wait 12 min to download the satellites information.

I had Mio A701 and it locked by itself in 30 sec approximately.I am not sure if i must make it because it is the first time.I will do and let you know....

I wish your words come true. Because IGO is one of the best progamms with very bad maps and destinator is a good-medium programm but in Greece the GI maps are the top. The combination of Igo+GI mas will have as a result the ultimate navigation package for Greece

As far as I know, new cooperations will be in the market. One possible senario is that it is going to be a new programm(prenamed in the net as destinator8). Another senario is that we are expecting new programm with new kind of maps. I , as others, hope there is going to be a new IGO programm with GI maps(for Greece they are the best). This combination will give the greek users the ultimate navigation system, because untill now, IGO is an excelent programm with very "un-upadted" maps for Geece and destinator is an almost good but note excellent programm with excellent maps for Greece. But all these are still rumors. Just be patient, nobady knows for sure.

No, Nothing newer. We are expecting a new one in November and it seems to be the last one under free update condition. From next year we have to buy any update it comes in the market. I believe this will be the death of destinator in Greece too as it happend in other countries, where you had to pay for any update. This perhaps was the reason that the maps in European countries were not well updated. If you don't buy they do not update. If you have to pay any update you don't buy, they don't update and so and so....That lead to the death of destinator in the market. On the other hand in Greece the motivation of free updates was strong ant the programm begame the top one among navigation systems.Of course that is my own clue.

That is due to some information that your version of destinator has in it. It means you can ONLY put in it official maps, those you buy from destinator sellers. Not those you can download from place to place. It happened to a friend. I sent him a link for Turkey map. It works fine in my version, but it asked him for codes. So I don't thing there is a soloution to your problem either from geting another version. Or find a ******* version

Edit: The programm needs a lot of cooking yet. We have to wate. The keygen programms don't give correct serial number to procced to 3d face of activation. there must be a diferrent keygen programm to fit.

By registing the maps you don't loose your program registration. It is a different matter. The problem is that in order to register a map, you mast have bought it, to take a registration key. If you want to run unregistered maps, you mast change the destcore.dll with one you can find in the net. Otherwise you mast pay for every map you want to use.

Changing the destcore.dll has nothing to do with with your license, except ofcourse that you will be running a"home made version" . But you will still have the rihgt to download any update offered to you since today(if you have such a right to your country). For instance in my country eyery legal user connects to a site, gives the registration codes(came with the programm cd) and downloads any update freely. That is ofcourse up to day. Now things have changed and propably this will be the last time of free of charge update. From now on we will have to pay for every new map update.
Now to answer to your question. Yes you can register those maps without changing you destcore.dll. Just buy them and they come with some registration keys. By registrating them that way you DON'T change you destcore.dll . But you have to buy every each one and pay for that. You can't use an unregistered map with YOUR destcore.dll . Up to day that was the only way for the company to make some money. They have putted a programm line that asks for registration for every map. The destcore.dll you can find in the net has overpassed that line, so you can use any map, without having the need of registering it.
Now about the second paragraph of your post, that was a mistake of me. For a moment, I believed you were writting about destinator8. I discovered my mistake and changed my answer. Before I do that, you have read the post. Sorry. That was reffering to the new version, destinator8

Ok, so I tried to replace my descore.dll with another one that i've found over the internet - but now the program won't work anymore. I'm clicking on Navigation on the device screen - and nothing happens.

Where can I find proper destcore.dll?
Or complete Destinator 7 for WinCe? (as i mention b4 - i've got Asus r700 - working with WinCe 5.0)

it's propably a typo in wce.txt, however it's correctly declared as Q4 in wce.ini

you may edit the text in wce.txt for piece of mind ;)

Latest USARoads I've found is:-

MapBuildID=2419 Major Roads of USA (not including Alaska and Canada)
Version 2007.Q3.9118- map of NavTeq. WES2, Fx1, NC, HLG3, V1.4, Toll roads, Rural area, D01. Signed map

Which leads to my question - is there a version that DOES include Alaska and Canada? I'm in Canada and this version will not allow navigation to the USA on either D7 for PC or D7 on my PNA.

That said, does it matter? If there is newer info a later USARoads (makes sense), then most would like to use it. An older version, 2006.Q2.4742, includes Alaska and Canada, and works just fine with both versions of D7. Not sure if I'm missing anything; appreciate advice or direction. Thanks.

I downloaded the UK_Ireland map but when i select it from the destinator 7 i get an errror "Tab file isn't in memory!"...any ideas ?

Also why isn't there a newer version of the UK map anywhere ? don't they use destinator ?? only a 2006 map exists
