Eclipse Finder for S60 Devices
This is the world's most amazing Tiny Astronomical application for MIDP 2.0 devices, can calculate the Detailed Information of any Solar and Lunar Eclipses Phenomenon with extreme accuracy. This one is very suitable for Hobby or Professional Astronomer. The output of the software is full of Scientific info and suitable for Reasearchers and Eclipse Chasers. Also this application may be employed for Archaeoastronomy, as it has the challanging accuracy with NASA's Report.

Features at a glance:-
Detailed Report of Global Solar Eclipses including,
Date of Eclipse, Type of Eclipse,
Detailed Level of Timings of Begining / End of Partial Eclipse, Begining / End of Tatality.
Time of Max Eclipse, Geographical Latitude / Longitude of Maximum Eclipse.
Ratio of Lunar to Solar Diameter, Fraction of Sun disc covered by moon (obscuratio),
Diameter of Core Shadow in kilometer, angular distance of sun and moon.

Detailed Report of Local Solar Eclipses Phenomenon for a given Latitude/Longitude/timezone,
Date of Eclipse, Type of Eclipse,
Detailed Level of Timings of Begining / End of Partial Eclipse, Begining / End of Tatality.

Detailed of Lunar Eclipses including timings of partial / total / Pneumbral magnitude etc.

Wide date range for calculation from 3000 BC to 3000 AD
automatic conversion of internal calendar system from Georgian to Julian before 15th october, 1582.

if u want the BC range, input the year in astronomical year, i.e. for BC 1235, u should enter year as -1234 (one difference)..

whats most amazing is its accuracy, and extremely suitable for historycal phenomenon research i.e. for Archaeoastronomy..
the report are fully comparable with NASA's report
as an example for the solar eclipse on 01/08/2008

the NASA bulletin shows the time of Max eclipse as 10:22:12.1 Terrestrial Dynamical Time and ΔT = 65.6 s, so to get actual GMT time subtract delta t from TDT, and we are getting time of max. eclipse 10:21:6.5, see the link.

from the screen shot of my software u can see the time of max. eclipse as 10:21:6.66am

so is not it good ?
Courtesy: Espenek (NASA) helped me a lot to build the routines...

supports any MIDP 2.0 device, (may be a little slower for some devices as it involves huge calculation)..

i'm really glad to see that our worthy Developer pals have joined hand with ipmart...

Its really a great news.
iPmart has turned more than a forum, its a Congress of the wise...

Now, i'd like to thank srvcti
for his innovation. This kind of program was there for PC before. But, he managed to bring the charm to mobiles.

But, there's a freak too...
The most woeful point was that, its not working with the s60 symbian phones like 3230...
While installing, it says, "invalid version"...

So.... Sorry, i couldn't try the program...
[color=red]

and i have got a suggestion...

Please create a sis/symbian installation version too...

This type of programs will be more stable upon s60 handsets...

Please consider my suggestion....

i have got some more requests/ suggestions ...

1. Please create a sis/symbian installation (c++) version too...
This type of programs will be more stable upon s60 handsets...

2. The graphical user interface must be dual...
I mean, one GUI will represent a calendar (preferably with a background image/caption image) showing the lunar/solar eclipse phases, along with the percentage of occlusion...

The other GUI, should represent the globe (map of the world on a spherical interface, which can be rotated using the joystick) showing the locations, where the shadow is falling. Although, this may not be applicable for the lunar eclipses.

3. You may add a world time feature, with the dynamic globe, too...

Please consider my suggestion....

we have a lot of expectations from you...
i'll be waiting for your reply.

Sorry to say nokia 3230 is not fully CLDC 1.1 complient phone (doesn't support floating point calculation for java) and its buggy. see

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

so please use any S60 2nd edition phone such as 6681,6680 N-series or sony-erission phone.

and other sug. is nice and i'm currently developing many astronomical application for symbian and nice graphical interface and glob option may be employed there.

also if anybody are interested in my project may contact me through email , however he/she should have good knowledge in astronomy or symbian programming...
