Guide to Adjust Windows Media Encoder Settings
This change should only be performed if changing the MPV-to-WAV conversion from 8-bit to 16-bit still doesn't provide you the audio quality you want.Also, the procedures in this document involve modifying the Windows Registry.If you're not familiar with modifying the registry, it's recommended that you contact your information technology (IT) support before proceeding.
By default, Cisco MeetingPlace Web invokes Windows Media Encoder using one of Windows Media Encoder's built-in encoding profiles, which converts .wav to .wma at 20 kbps quality.
Complete these steps on the Cisco MeetingPlace Web machine:
1.Open the windows Media Encoder.If you can't find the program shortcut, you can find the actual program at c:\Program Files\Windows Media Components\Encoder
2.If the program launches into the "Welcome to Windows Media Encoder" window, click Cancel.This takes you into the Windows Media Encoder program user interface (UI).
3. From the menu bar, choose Tools > Manage Profiles. A list of available conversion profiles is displayed in the Name column.
4.Write down name of the profile that you intend to use. The string you write down must be exactly the same as shown in the Name column.
5.Open the registry and go to HK_LM\Software\Latitude\MeetingPlaceWebpublisher\A udio
6.In the Audio folder, create a new String Value called WM_ConversionProfile, type = REG_SZ
7.Set WM_ConversionProfile to the string value that you wrote down in Stup4. For example, Audio fr CD-quality (96 Kbps stereo)
Note: It's important that the text exactly match the name of the proile.
8.Once the WM_ConversionProfile registry value set, restart these services:
For Cisco MeetingPlace Web 4.2.7:
MeetingPlace Replication Service
MeetingPlace Audio Service.
For Cisco MeetingPlace web 4.3.0 and above:
MeetingPlace Web Conferencing
