Just wanted to say that I could resolve my problem("Awaiting better GPS accuracy")
For anyone, who face such problem, I would like to tell him that the whole thing is about the location. My advice is to stay in a place where you can see the sky, then, and before starting acquiring satellintes, change your location (when you go the attached GPS, you have the possibility to change your location) and press ok for your curent location. In few minutes you will have connection.

You can also have the Anavasi map in your SD card for off road guide.

You can have both maps in your storage card.
Name for example the anavasis map as gmapsup2.img and the Autrodrive leave it as gmapsupp.img

Now from tools / manage my data /map sets push the button Mapsource and you can select your map. You may have also a third map BUT not in your SD card but tn the main Garmin folder. Name it gmapprom.img

Where do I download the main program, this update will not work without it!!
Download the program from garmin website (see support / updates&downloads / additional software then look for Garmin Mobile 10 or 20). From same place download basemap and support files (this contain all voice languages and help files).
Then use keygen to unlock software (create SW.UNL file - copy it to card on Garmin folder) and maps (create GMAPxxxx.unl for each map/set of maps you are loading to card on to Garmin Folder - xxxx stand for PROM and/or SUPP, SUP2.
That's all!

Hello, need an ID of sorts.

I have a bought copy of XT which I want on my larger memory card. Everything is working fine, except the map.

I did everything, but get the message 'Cant unlock maps for garmin device with unit ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, do you want to unlock now?

If I choose 'yes' I have to input a 25 character code.

On the original memory card, there was the gmapsupp.unl file, which has a 25 char key in there.

I thought that by copying this over it would work, but obviously it doesnt!

Ive got the keygen, but dont know what mapid to put in. Opening it up in ultra edit, theres a GARMIN..City Navigator Europ€....yye NT 2008 UK & Ireland


Ive tried IDs 78 and 179, but they dont work. Obviously I changed the card ID etc, and it works with the internal GPS. It just doesnt let me use the map.

So any ideas?

Step 1/You should check if your map set (UK&Ireland) are on the Garmin folder as GMAPSUPP.IMG or GMAPPROM.IMG
Step 2/When generating unlock code (GMAPSUPP.UNL or GMAPPROM.IMG, depending on what you'll find at step 1) you should use the code 284 as custom map - this is the code for the entire CNENT 2008, regardless if you are using only one map or full set of maps.

Step 1/You should check if your map set (UK&Ireland) are on the Garmin folder as GMAPSUPP.IMG or GMAPPROM.IMG
Step 2/When generating unlock code (GMAPSUPP.UNL or GMAPPROM.IMG, depending on what you'll find at step 1) you should use the code 284 as custom map - this is the code for the entire CNENT 2008, regardless if you are using only one map or full set of maps.

In the above link you find many maps and MapId.

Open a *.img file of garmin map and search for "GARMIN CORPORATION".

You'll find a string like this "GARMIN CORPORATION1995-2007 LIC_822, LIC_821".

The number after LIC_ is a MapID number.

Mobile XT support actually 4 maps, as follows:
- basemap (GMAPBMAP.IMG). This is generally use for the Garmin basemap available on the site. Not tried but I am sure than can be any other map used with coresponding GMAPBMAP.UNL file.
- detail map - GMAPPROM.IMG, with file GMAPPROM.UNL
- detail map - GMAPSUPP.IMG, with file GMAPSUPP.UNL
- detail map - GMAPSUP2.IMG, with file GMAPSUP2.UNL

No, my advice is as follows:
- If you have MapSource, select ALL of them and transfer them to device. MapSource will automatically create a file GMAPSUPP.IMG. Generate the unlock codes for EACH map you have transfered and put them in ONE SINGLE GMAPSUPP.UNL file, WITHOUT ANY SPACE between codes (for example if you are transferring 3 maps you should have an unlock code with 75 characters, no space between them.
- you may also combine NON MapSource maps in one single IMG file using IMG2GPS and then just copy/paste to card and generate the code as above
Be aware that MapSource will only create GMAPSUPP.IMG files so if you might need to rename the files on the card to SUP2 or PROM. Same for teh corresponding unlock code.

Anyways I will now write what I have done step by step my friends.

---------------------------------------------------
1. Download and install Garmin Mobile XT.

Link for the installer: http://www8.garmin.com/software/GarminMobileXTforSymbianS60_41020.exe

NOTE: This installer does not contain voice and help files.

2. Launch GMXT, got to Settings -> About.

3. Make note of your "Card ID"

4. Launch the keygen, and enter the "Card ID" you see on GMXT About page.

5. Select Map product and hit the corresponding Generate button to generate both Device & Map unlock key.

NOTE: If your map is not included in the Map product list, select <custom mapset>, enter the corresponding MAPID and hit OK.

5. Copy (CTRL+C) the Device unlock key to clipboard.

6. Now open the Notepad and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as SW.UNL

7. Copy (CTRL+C) the Map unlock key to clipboard.

8. Open the Notepad again and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as GMAPSUPP.UNL

9. Put your newly created files to your SD Card\Garmin directory and restart GMXT.

8. Program should now recognize your built-in GPS (if not use GpsGate set to generic NMEA GPS receiver) and you should be
able to use detailed maps.

Yes, I tried and it worked fine.

Follow the next steps :

1. Download and install Garmin Mobile XT into your nokia phone.

Each time I use the program, the time of the phone is set back an hour:???:.

I didn't find anything on the software regarding timezones etc.

Use your phone's file manager, go look at the SW.UNL and make sure it does not have the .txt behind it. Same with GMAPSUPP.UNL

Keygen v1.3 works great now when activating maps in Mapsource. Tried with Garmin 60CS/CSx and nuvi, they all work 100% Also checked with Garmin key Parser. SWEET

I use nokia N82, i encounter problem using Garmin Xt v 4.10.60. After Instalation as instructed. I run program from application menu. Then Garmin logo appeared for a few seconds, after that program terminated without error messages and went back to application menu with my bluetooth automatically turned on. It appears that the program activates my BT to find Garmin GPS ( which i dont have, unfortunately). program terminated even before reach menu so i didnt got the chance to look for id. I also tried in Nokia 6110 navigator and encounter same problem. can any body help me please??

You can use North America map, use Map installer to cut up the maps of area you want to use.

Click on that .sis file to install the program onto the phone. After that open the app and go to Settings>About and get your Unit ID number.

Just completely installed garmin mxt into N70. By the time, i'm looking for card id (setting>about), i found nothing. I converted imei number to unit id and created sw.unl. Paste it into garmin folder...

But my N70 could not detect gps receiver via bluetooth...keep on searching on and on.....

Garmin XT on N91 - still no joy. I am now sure I did everyting correctly, and even tried generating a code with v1.3, but it keeps asking me to unlock the software. There is no .txt after the .UNL and I am not an IT novice so if I do stupid things they are really stupid!

One thing I have not tried yet is to install the software on a data card 1st and then copy to the HD of the N91. Any other suggestions where I went wrong? Maybe I should upgrade the phone firmware but that was done a few months ago.

BTW, the v1.3 map unlock works perfectly in Mapsource. Thanks Jetmouse!

Garmin XT on N91 - 2 more things:

GMXT does not allow me to go to the 'tools' first to get a Unit ID, it immediately asks if I want to put in the 25 or 10 character codes.

Question - If Jetmouse in the readme says reverse the order of the bytes does he mean someting like 2402 to 2042 before conversion or after conversion?

Garmin mobile XT 4.10.60 works fine in nokia N82 and 6110 navigator after using keygen+ ID number... it even recognize internal GPS and good signal too. but the next problem is how can i upload .IMG file to my phone.. some says, we must use some programs like nroute or mapsource..

You do not need any software to upload map to phone. You may find Garmin maps either in Mapsource Format (folder with more .img files usually with number names like 00155531.img + 00155532.img and so on) or in Device format (single larger file usually with the name GMAPSUPP.IMG but you may find variations like GMAPSUP2.IMG GMAPPROM.IMG or GMAPBMAP.IMG).
For Mapsource maps you need specific Mapsource compatible code (25 digits code that you usually find with the map). You have to install the maps to the PC, unlock them and then use Mapsource to generate GMAPSUPP.IMG (the advantage using MApsource is that you may use only parts of the maps for the file you create, thus reducing the size or you can combine more maps in one single device map to reduce the number of maps in the phone but this is more difficult).
Now that you have the GMAPSUPP.IMG file you need the Map ID (3-4 numbers). You introduce this number in the JetMouse keygen, also the CardID and you can generate the unlock code for the map (text file GMAPSUPP.UNL).
You may find maps in .img format from City Navigator Europe NT 2008 here:

I downloaded the GB and Ireland 2008 .img file but now, when I run the program I get the message "Can't Unlock Maps for Garmin Device with Unit ID 2934539086, Do you want to unlock now?"

Did you make gmapsupp.unl file with unlock code with keygen and of course named the map as gmapsupp.img also?

Select <custom maps> and enter 284 (it's the Map ID for the new City Navigator Europe NT 2008)

If you extract this maps from Garmin City Navigator® Europe NT 2008 the Code MAP ID is 284.
If you extract it from City Navigator Europe NT+ v9 the code Map ID is 197.

I just came from Frankfurt, and i use on E60 Nokia TOM TOM and on N73 Garmin. Satisfied with both of them. Garmin soft is not using much energy - it stands without refilling even 8 hours, TT after 2 hours went out.
Garmin covering ex YU places better, topografic and nautical maps are working also (on TT not), POI-s are much wider on Garmin, you do not need to swich between maps when you go from one map to another like in TT. The range of maps is in Garmin better, but TT is more solid as a soft.

1.Download the file from first connection and install on computer

Means:

paste whole Garmin folder into SD root; overwrite if asked to (only if a previous version is already installed). It may be then needed to browse the Garmin dir with file manager and click GarminMobileXT.sis to reinstall the program.

Thanks for the post, but i already got this one. My problem is with the names on the program like streets, cities... Everything is abreviated like this: Santa Claus Street - S C S. You have to install the maps to the PC, unlock them and then use Mapsource to generate GMAPSUPP.IMG (the advantage using MApsource is that you may use only parts of the maps for the file you create, thus reducing the size or you can combine more maps in one single device map to reduce the number of maps in the phone but this is more difficult).
Now that you have the GMAPSUPP.IMG file you need the Map ID (3-4 numbers). You introduce this number in the JetMouse keygen, also the CardID and you can generate the unlock code for the map (text file GMAPSUPP.UNL).
You may find maps in .img format from City Navigator Europe NT 2008 here:

The 4 names I gave you are the 4 possible maps you can have simultaneousely in your phone. It is no differenceFor each you need a corresponding .UNL file.
Map ID - find where you find the map. I also indicated you above to look for a lot of Map IDs in post #1272. If you try with Notepad it appears to freeze, just wait some minutes until it loads a very larga map file.
City Navigator Europe only contains Europe, but you are encouraged to SEARCH City Navigator North America, CN Australia, CN New Zeeland a.s.o.
For voices look for file GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx.exe

I did some tests and i found out that up to version 4.10.40 custom maps works fine but we cant connect a generic gps receiver. On version 4.10.60 there are some problems with custom maps but the connection with generic gps receivers works.

Besides that i cant locate any poi, waypoint, etc or search a street or city with the maps installed by mapsource. If i send a poi by poiloader it shows up on custom POIs. In mapsource i just select the region i want with the map select tool and send to device (am i doing right?) There are some points of interest with the map but they dont appear after i send the maps to the device.

Does anybody know a way to export all the street names to POIs so i can fix the abbreviated streets names problem, or some software like gpsproxy for symbian to make garmin think i have a garmin gps receiver? For now ill just wait for a new version that fixes those problems.

I have managed to load Garmin into the phone (using internal GPS) and mapsource into the PC. Also downloaded the free maps from malsingmaps.com. Also transferred the map to the phone via the mapsource. All this only possible from reading the many valuable threads here.

The strange thing is in the map source the map details are great....full street names, landmarks clearly shown. etc. But on the phone I can only see abbreviated road names (for example YA1 means Yishun Avenue 1) and much of the land marks information missing. Any idea where I am getting it wrong? I did not create a GMAPSUPP.UNL as advised partly I could not locate the map id.

Okay...seems that it is due to bug in the map. The post from 1339 helped me determine this. Any idea how to get maps from other sources for singapore and malaysia without this problem?

For N95 8gb users, specialy those who disconnect often from satelites, try the following:
(It works for all GPS app: Garmin, Sygic....)
Before start any of your GPS app, go to Tools>connectivity>GPS data,
click options>positioning settings, make sure that only "integrated GPS" &"Network based" are checked (do not check "Bluetooth GPS" & " Assisted GPS")
After that, go back and click on postion, click option>satelite status, wait till have connection to satellite (sure you have to be in open area)
after receiving signals, and without exiting from the GPS data menu, go to your app and start it. I assure to you that it will never disconnect (also it will be better if you open your slide)
Hope this resolve many problems (IT RESOLVE MINE, AFTER A LOT OF SEARCHING)

Do you actually see teh City Navigator Europe NT 2008 in Mapsource or you just have the .img file?
If the map is seen in Mapsource zoom to min, select with Map button what you like and click 'send to device'
Otherwise, if you have only *.img file which should have more than 1.3 GB, copy it to the card, name it gmapxxxx.img (xxxx can be bmap, prom, supp or sup2 - check other files in Garmin folder on the card in order not to overwrite by mistake), create corresponding *.unl file (same name as the map) and enjoy!

1) Please can you confirm that after you installed the NT2008 map set in to Map Source on your PC that you then UNLOCKED the map set using JM KeyGen v1.3?
2) Then what CARD or ESN ID number did you use in the KG in the first box? If you use your phone CARD ID or ESN ID number in the first boxt of KG then enter the map set ID (or use the drop down list if the map set is contained in there) in the second area then generate a unit UNLOCK code, then generate a map set UNLOCK code. It is the second UNLOCK code that you should enter in to the UNLOCK wizard of Map Source. Don't forget that if your GPS device is NOT a GARMIN unit then you will need to use the first UNLOCK code saved to your phone GARMIN folder as "sw.unl" you only need the one sw.unl code for your GPS device to work with GMXT and ANY map sets.

3) You need different UNLOCK codes for each mapset (GMAPSUPP.IMG) that you save to your phone that was NOT generated my Map Source on your PC. that is any GMAPSUPP.IMG files that you may download from the forums that are locked, you have to generate an UNLOCK code using JM v1.3 and the MAP ID, then save the 25 digit code in a single file in the GARMIN folder on your phone called "gmapsupp.unl" you may keep adding more and more unlock codes to this single file as long as there are no spaces between the codes, there is no limit to the number of unlock codes that can be stored in this file.

If you have 3 maps you will probably want to combine them in one single *.img file. After you will have the file containing all the maps bear the name of this file (as advised should be gmapxxxx.img where xxxx should be sup, sup2, bmap or prom) and generate a .unl file with the same name as the *img file.
In this .unl file you should have ALL 3 (or more) unlock codes coresponding to the charts from which .img file was created.
It's quite simple, you should only be carefull on the procedure and take care to have the *.unl with the extension .unl not .unl.txt - when you open notepad, selct save as, all files type *.unl and the file will be saved with *.unl extension.

I like as simple as possible to make this.
So there is my example. I installed City Navigator NT v9, but because some parts of my country are badly covered with this package of maps I'd like also to install Slo-Cro maps.
For city navigator I have gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp.unl. Is possible to have Slo-Cro maps named gmapsupp1.img and gmapsupp1.unl? Should this work?

load both europe map and adria route in map source app.

select regions from euro and slo-cro and transfer to phone or mem card.

use keygen to get keys for both euro and adria route with respective map id's.

put both keys in gmapsupp.unl one after another without space between.

save gmapsupp.unl and copy to mem card.

start garmin.

I have installed Garmin MapSource City Navigator North America NT 2008 created the unl files with the 25 character code using garmin keygen v1.3 placed them on the phone as instructed. I am trying to unlock the maps and I get the error "the following devices did not have factory unlock codes. " then it shows Garmin Mobile XT in the error box. What step am I missing??

I already did all,except fot the last phrase, which is the core of my problem.
My problem is I cannot read img-files and do not know how to put mutiple img-files to one big file (to call gmapsupp.img). The rest works.
My intention is to combine many topo-maps to one big topo map I can use while hiking. I think you're right it slows down th esystem, but while walking, that might not be a problem hi hi.
I'v got 6Gb memory, which should be ok I think.
Can you please give me next lesson, HOW TO PUT MANY (OVER 100 MAPS) INTO ONE SINGLE MAP (GMAPSUPP.IMG)?

since you have europe map as map source (if you dont few posts above @qwejt shows what to look for to find full europe nt2008, installable and not img, lotsa torrents about this) the only thing is left to get adria route (cro-slo-bih). now i could bet that theres at least 15 posts about it in this thread alone, plus 4 other garmin threads, plus request for maps thread. they show where to get install file from, what the mapid is, which version of the mapsource install (theres 2, older and latest forgot the numbers), what the serial for mapsource is...

-find north america mapsource install file (lol you dont expect us to look through 140 pages to find you a link, but its here, in this forum, 100%), either nt2008 or just 2008, either will do.

-install into mapsource and register with key that should be packed together with the maps in txt or nfo file.

-select regions, provinces or states you wanna use

-conect phone in file transfer mode or just plug in the mem card to puter

-in mapsource app select transfer files option

-use keygen to get registration for the respective map with propper map id and copy reg code to the gmapsupp.unl and save in its designated position in garmin folder.

-start garmin (disconnect phone from mass, lol)

-enjoy

this is the procedure, now if youre not willing to do the legwork and search, then im afraid youre beyond help.

you can either install from the first post and then copy the aditional files that are found within first dozen of pages of this thread, and then upgrade, or you can go and look on garmin site for the latest version full install. its there, dont have the link.

I imported my 6110 and instead of having my Irish map, I had Singapore and Malaysian and was terribly dissapointed. but not any more thanks to you guys, I now have v7.3.545 of Route 66 and 4.10.60 of this Garmin app, both with the proper maps, which is truly brilliant and I'm so happy now. Why not make the Switzerland map yourself from the full MapSource Europe map? It's easy and you don't depend on others to help you.

did you create SW.UNL file?

and if you did make a SW.UNL file, make sure no .txt extension behind it. Use phone's file manager to check.

First of all you should have last version of software which is 4.10.60. Issue you are describing above was seen on 4.10.40 version on devices with internal GPS. Seems that last version corrected this issue.
Meantime, you have an option in the settings and you should tell the software to show you position ON ROAD and NOT AT GPS LOCATION. Some maps, even detailed are de-calibrated so there might be a problem too.

Place them in E:\Garmin\Vehicle.

Does anyone know how to reinstall the map img files to mapsource.
I have a Garmin Colorado GPS device and it seems to only recognize 1 map gmapsupp.img file name (doesn't recognize gmapsup2.img)
So to have multiple maps I need to have original mapsource map disks or somehow reinstall the posted map img files into mapsource so that I can then select all the maps an create 1 gmapsupp.img file.

Forgive me if this question was asked before, but will this XT Keygenerator work to unlock maps on the NUVI? I have tried but it doesn't seem to be working with AdriaRoute 2.0. Everytime I used Garmin Unlock (Mapsource) it tells me the 25 digit code is invalid.

Am I suppose to use an external SD card and get the unit ID from there?

I installed Garmin on my phone (4.10.40).It works, with basemap of Europe.
It works, major roads, no problem.
Now I have normal maps and topo maps from different European countries.
I installed Mapsource, but it doesn't accept the *.img-files of 7 extra countries I like to install.
How can I put these 7 img-files on my phone together so I needn't rename them each time I want to use 'm?
The unlock-code is not the problem, just put all the codes in SW.UNL.
But what to do with GMAPSUPP.IMG or GMAPSUP2.IMG. These files already contain one country, but I want 7 more countries in my phone.
Can anybody help me?

Can someone help me adding Topo-maps to a normal map. I've got the topo-maps. Each country has over 100 separate img-files for topo. How to handle.
E.g. France has a base map and about 100 smaller topo map, all of them are *.img.
I tried Mapsource, IMG2GPS, CGPSMapper and GArmin City Navigator, but nothing seems to work, or I'm doing something totally wrong. I spent so much time, I don't know what to do anymore. I'm not desparate, but just do not know anymore what to do.
Or can I mail my topo maps and country map to someone and then you sent me the correct file(s) to install?

hallo, yes it's possible, with prog (Transp2) make topo map transparant and from Mapsource send this with routable map to device, not yet tried by phone, but with gps 278 works fine.

For <2> Your are correct. 2 maps will merge in to Gmapsupp.img
<3> Gmaptool can be add many many in one command
ex: gmaptool -jo gmapsupp.img a.img b.img c.img
or gmaptool -jo gmapsupp.img *.img
<4> Correct if your map have different FID you need to add 4x25 digit
to gmapsupp.unl

Download whole map on computer and than first install in computer these file:

Than install map - start setup and after installation unlock map with the code. Check if you see the map in computer in Mapsorce program. If yes you are OK.

I have been testing it on my phone the last few days, everything works fine , great routing , speed cameras work . Dont know if its a glitch or part of the program , but it seems not to recognise roundabouts , the map shows you going around them but the screen and voice prompts ask you to turn left like it thinks its a bend in the road. Just wondering if anybody else has noticed this?

The free trial should activate automatically when you first connect.

To test traffic and if you have US map, try this:
disactivate the Gps, then plan a new route in the States (choose a route that is likely to have some traffic problems).
Then press Simulate Route.
At this point access the Traffic: you should get traffic info for your route

For me it works even when I'm in Europe ;)

Yes, I did.
Look in thread # 917 (or h**p//www.gps-inf0.nl/handleiding9.html)
I used this combination:
mapdekode
transp2.exe
img2gps
Install and run the programs in above order otherwise it won't work

Although this manual is written in Dutch language, text is pretty understandable.
It works really great on my Nokia 6110 navigator.
I tried the Netherlands map (think it's ID=802). Most parts were covered, except the part I'm living is, so if some has a full working Topo map of teh Netherlands, please let me know.
Beware you make the topo maps transparent, since they not always show road names. If you make them transparent, you'll get all info.
Since you add two maps, some topo items like buildings can be projected partly on roads, but it didn't bother me, because they were very detailed and I do understand the rest of the map very well.

Everybody thanks for great answers to all questions. Reading all threads helped me a lot.

Hey all. new to the forum great !!! well i have downloaded the garminxt 4.10.60 file but CANNOT get it to work after i get new 8gb SDHC card!!! what is going on :(

i have unlocked the maps (north america) and put the phone to get gps internal to work. BUT there is no signal (zero bars) and no connection to maps all i get is awaiting better gps signal but the bar does not move!

What did i do wrong? i use cardID and pasted sw.unl inside garmin folder.

This only stopped working after i got my new 8gb SDHC card. Before i was using 2gb and garmin was working FINE! i had to reinstall after getting new 8gb and now even after 2 reinstall still does not work. Please someone help me!

well...i have the Europe map 2008, but it has .img extension.... what to do with it? i supose i have to install it, because when i open mapinstall, i can;t select any o the maps on it..so,PappaDocta what to do with the .img file, which is 1.36 gb large?

You do not have to install it just transfer it / copy it to the card and unlock it with gmapsupp.unl code (in case you don't have other detail map with the same name). Code should be generated with keygen 1.3.

ya but...i don't need the whole 1.36 gb map...this is why i would like to put it into MapInstall so that i can transfer to my device only the region i need. so how should i put the 1.36 gb file to se it inside mapInstall? because now if i open mapInstall..i can;t select anything on the map.

Than serach/find/install City Navigator Europe NT 2008 for MapSource - is somewhere on this thread. With this you can add to card what country you want.

seems like i cant get it alone...i found somewhere garmin unlock generator 1.2, and used it in MapSource to unlock city navigator europe NT v9, and map source said i unlocked it. The same 25 digit code i used to create the .unl file, and transfered it to mass mem of n95, together with 1,36 GB map of europe in .img format. Then when i opened garmin app on my phone, the message "can't unlock maps for garmin device with unit id3842046155, do you want to unlock now?" appeared...so i typed yes, and typed in the 25 digit code provided by Garmin Unlock Generator, but the same message appeared. I cant see...what i have to do to unlock it
I saw many threads talking about the MapID...do i need it to unlock the map? If yes, where can i get it for my 1.36 GB .img file, and how do i use it to unlock my map?
