This is not VGA!!! Doesn't work really well on XDA FLAME. Changing screen orientation fails. Program randomly quits. Just QVGA.

If there is not a crack, and the program expires on the start of feb, i'll just trash it.

all you need to do is change back the clock to january 2008... the crack for the PC version is already out, its just a matter of time, anyway this is only a demo, the full version will be out soon...

Has any installed this beta version and got to see the 3d buildings in action?

Basic Navigation works.... some things not working properly... Screen rotation, Safety cameras....

3d buildings and terrain are there and look nice, although this really is eye candy and worthless IMO..... apart from impressing your mates, it's of no real use when driving and obviously dangerous if you look at it whilst doing so...

The BIG thing missing is the TTS at road level..... but maybe others have it working.... it seems to be missing for me.

Looks promising though.... I hope the TTS is there and you can easilly load cameras.... I love the fact you can add cameras and POI's in the program, whereas Destinator and it's 'Favourites' gets the thumbs down from me.....

The map is dissapointing....it seems the destinator map for the UK Q4 2006 is the most up to date and the igo 8 uk map is missing a lot of road changes made 2 years ago :(

The .dem file is not a map.
It contains 3d terrain information.
So if you have the .dem file for Western Europe and (some of) the maps for the same region, you can see the mountains on the maps...

Because I live in a flat country, I haven't come across any mountain on the map yet, so I can't confirm this really works...

He he, its worth to have a trip (maybe somewhere in alps) to see the mountains.
:-) Here in Greece there are not too high mountains, but there are plenty of them.
Well, I put them in:
iGO8\content\dem\
directory and the rest is done automatically.
There must be something similar in MN6 (which is a great app-probably better than IGO, if you find good maps for your country :-( ), but did not try it yet.

I just cant get the patched version to work on my T-Mobile Ameo. If i use the demo exe and set the date back to 2007 it works.... however only the bosnia map is there!!

i downloaded the igo_PDA_PNA it and it works fine after i added the basemap! thnx everyone! one small thing i want to know. I had the igo_2006_plus and i installed it with a soft instal (meaning i soft reseted and when it turned on it instaled igo on my pda) now i just copied the folder into my storage card.. the problem with that is that on my programs list there is no igo icon now!! You can add a shortcut by using windows explorer on your pc - then create a shortcut to the EXE, then cut it to the start folder in the wondows directory of your PDA - eh voila!

The screen adjustment from landscape seems to be a problem with the Beta version, I don't think anyone has yet overcome the problem, and also not TTS on the Beta version

Hi again antarxis, I did try changing the PDA from the vertical to the horizontal position, but you only half the map on the screen and you can not seem to change it so it only fills the visible screen, which is what it seems to look like on your attachment picture

I found a similar work around and used graphic files from older versions, it's not complete but it works. :egdance: (you have to rename some files) You can also use language files from older versions, again it's not complete but it's something.

This method is even easier, in the zip file is a program called Free Radar.exe with a file named Radar.bat within the folder where unpack files Speedcams.txt copy the file, run the bat , it will automatically file Speedcams.spud. I already tested the speed cameras are visible. Speedcams.txt file is italy, you enter the country you want. Sorry my bad English.

I installed this on my MDA Vario III and it all worked fine except ....

No voice directions

No speed cameras

and after shutting down and starting again for another trip, it stops at the main splash screen.

One of the links on here has lots of voices on, read back through the posts.

Speed cameras aren't included by default, you can download the UK ONLY cameras attached to this post.

I strongly urge you all to pay for these cameras, they're very cheap [Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) - my only reason for posting this file is it took a couple of hours work converting their database to work with the iGo 8 Beta (it seems desktop software generates .spud files, not iGo itself, and since I don't have it installed on my desktop I had to botch it together manually), I will post the details of how to do it soon.

Also please note for some reason with these cameras activated, iGo 8 Beta takes literally about 5 minutes to start up whilst its parsing the file, but once its loaded the speed cameras are definately there ;)

Sometimes it can take a while for it to start up if its got a lot of data to process, but if its genuinely too much to bear, delete (or backup and delete) everything in the SAVE/ folder, and replace sys.txt with the original one from the installation archive. This should reset it to defaults.

It doesn't no, all its doing is saving all your preferences, navigation history, etc etc. By deleting everything in the SAVE folder you're effectively resetting the iGo installation to defaults.

I honestly can't say at this point, I would say that its mainly due to the cameras. Try temporarily removing the speedcameras.spud file and try again.

Yup, thats when its loading the cameras. Same here but takes about 5-10 mins to open on mine, a HTC Universal 520MHz XScale CPU, whats yours? I'm inclined to believe it may be CPU related.

I don't think there is, bearing in mind there is over 13,000 speed cameras in there, I believe it simply to be that the beta is heavily unoptimised at reading those kinda databases.

I will try reparsing the file, sorting it by camera speed, which is what the example italy camera file format was in. The example is mind boggling in terms of its organisation, I sat for hours trying to figure it out, could be I missed something.

Oh and you're welcome, the way I see it, someone was kind enough to put this great software on the net for me to *cough* you know, so I figure I owe something back ;)

Okay quick post here, I tried sorting the UK speed cameras into groups of speed, and then in each group I sorted by coordinates and then put it all together. The overall file then looked a lot more organised.

Still takes in excess of 5 minutes to start up. I think it may be due to the sheer number of cameras, and I have a gut suspicion this iGO 8 Beta wasn't designed for ordinary Windows Mobile Pocket PC's, I think it was intended for their dedicated navigation device.

I'll keep my eye open as to the cause though.

I have Tom Tom, Route 66 & Garmin on my phone so a pretty tough set of opposition.

Based on my initial trials, this software is very very good indeed.
It would need the cameras to fully compete

.......now if I can just get the Traffic working.

I tried load it a second time to go out to test it and it took ages again so I gave up.

Not sure why it should take so much longer the second time.

Also notice that Igo8 is messing with the power settings somewhat.

When connected to my pc power is fed to the handset, but in the car, it seems to turn the power off.

The small indicator lower left on the main screen just above the gps indicator is on on connected to the pc but off in the car

Turn off Igo8 and the power returns to the handset.

Mine does that, thought it was only me *scratches head* could be the software has more bugs than I'd thought.

I have already learnt that even with a double capacity battery I can't run iGO on battery power, its got to be on charge. Wierd.

The mapping and directions are fantastic on Igo8

This will be really good when the full version is released.

Only hope it will run with cameras and everything on pda.

Yes, copy igo8.pda.pna_patch.exe to igO8 folder on CARD, run patch on pc, after insert card in PDA and run.....

I think the charging from the car charger may be a problem with the charger.

The handset charges from the mans charger and from the usb cable but not from the car charger.

Perhaps the car charger is not providing enough current for the handset running IGO8.

I also noticed your camera database loads quicker when powered from the mains, coincidence, maybe.

Any other thoughts out there?

It seems that the IGO8 Beta runs only as landscape. No portait capability.
I am using it on the Trinity with a not so Greek Map (it is teleatlas one).

Try this upgrade:
- new starting screen
- new colors
- better arrow for navigation
- working for ui_igo8 320_240,ui_igo8 400_240 and ui_hp_sagan 800_400

Installation:
Backup old sys.txt and data.zip
Unpack
rewrite data.zip
use right sys.txt for your resolution and rewrite

Thanks for the upgrade. It runs on my hx4700 in landscape mode.
However, the reboot on "power off and then back on" is still there. If the power if turned off while IGO8 is running, when the power is back on, it reboot the machine. It maybe related to the fact that I put the whole applicaiton and data on a SD card. Anyone has advice on this issue?

It is because it is loading the speed camera database.

Temporarily rename the SpeedcameraUpdate.spud file in /Content folder and try to restart.

If it loads quicker, then you might have to do without the speedcameras.

Hopefully this will be sorted in the final version.

I solved the problem with defaults sys.txt and data.zip.
Latter I put data.zip(upgrade 2) everything is OK till try to pick regional
lang or voices, at that moment it start with error

Guys, I'm not using it, it's not mature yet, it says I'm moving even when I'm completely still. It never stops saying I'm moving, the GPS localization doesn't work well.
I'm going back to use iGo 7, It works pretty nicely.

TO INSTALL: Simply copy the complete content inside the zip file to your \iGo8 folder and overwrite any files it asks you to. Then start up iGo8, go to Settings->Regional->Voice Language and select the TTS voice. If you did everything correctly, you should hear "Have a nice trip, drive carefully."

Note: may not work for devices running Win CE 4.2.

Does anybody know what should I modify to have bigger position triangle and different zoom-in/out, angle settings. I am talking about PPC version (i-mate Jasjar with VGA resolution). The roads are very thin and the triangle almost invisible.

I have seen different sys.txt as well as igo8.ini (project_config) files with the following codes, but dunno which parameters need to be changed.

I would appreciate if somebody could give a short description and possible values next to each sys.txt, igo8.ini lines.

pajaaa was asking the same question regarding if it is for PC, & I answered him prior to answering your post, and there is no problem at all except that all links for the 3 maps posted by the thread starter are dead. Looking for good links for the 3D maps.

I am looking for the Buildings file for Netherlands....all other links on the front are dead :(

So far, we can only use IGO on landscape....If someone has already found a way to use it on PPC on Portait, please share it with us...Looking forward to hear from you guys!

Para usar basta extrair do rar a pasta IGO8, colocar no storage card e criar um atalho com o explorer.

Yes, running the nyditot to fit the Igo screen within the square 240x240 everything gets a little shrink, but it works. It's similar to Destinator results. For 240x240, the IGO 6 still the best option, so far... I hope the next IGO 8 releases, would also brings this features from IGO 6.

Sincerely appreciate your help, but links are still dead "User folder does not exist". Appreciate a good link for USA & Canada maps, please.

Most important is to use fake names or numbers for the uploads, and use i4ipmart as a password to protect uploaded files.

Just delete the portugal map and place the brasil map in the same folder, do remeber to also replace the 3d models from brasil.
