The truth is that it does exist and limited number of testers/developers has been provided with e.g. HP PDAs with TT7 built-in the ROM. No one dared to release those versions to the public though. I know it because I had such a PDA in my hands a couple of months ago. The mystery is why TT is waiting so long to release is as a standalone product which could be bought from their site.

Yes, that can be the reason. They do know about piracy with the maps for Go series, but then they have the cash for the device plus some people do pay for the updates. Maybe they'll be using the new policy for PDA and sell TT7 only preinstalled on certain devices, thus they'll get some cash from companies like HTC etc.

Nevertheless, I think there wouldn't be so much piracy if the update of the maps policy was fairer. Look at Navigon. You buy the device and you've got 2 years of free updates (quarterly - making it 8 map upgrades for free). And if it pays for them, TT wouldn't be much poorer introducing at least 6 months or a year of free updates. I'm convinced that quite a few people would pay for another upgrade knowing they have a year of peace, not 30 days.

I am trying to use the 720.1712 North America Maps with this and haven't been able to figure our how to activate that maps, TomTom is reading those maps but I says "Sorry this is not the correct activation code for the product "North_America_2GB"

I think because the tt7 was installed on a difference device (Diamond) it probably has an activation file associated to a different map that I have to delete somehow so that when I try to select the map, it should ask me to enter activate code

I also need a software that can generate activation code for the 715 maps, I tried the TT Activator but it needs the midi file which I didn't find in the maps.

Please help if you can.

The only small disappointment is the fact that in bigger cities in maps 7.15 and newer you've got those 3D countours on PNAs and here there's nothing. Plus has someone devised where to copy zip codes because now they don't work. TT doesn't see them regardless of where I copy them.

I am in the same boat, I installed the posted tt7.cab that someone extracted from HTC Diamond, then tried to replace the exe but it won't run, and I can't install the tt7p.cab either, the device complains that it's not digitally signed and I can't extract the cab contents, it seems like its corrupt, I am able to exact all other cab contents without a problem. THAT worked like a treat, thanks!!

Can you exmplain what exactly you did, I have the easytool, the patcher.

This is what I did based on the instructions you followed, but didn't work for me, let me know if I missed anything.

1) Downloaded 715.17.12 maps
2) Used meta file from the maps in easytool and got the dct file
3) put the meta + dct on the HTC Tytn II (the device I am using, with 3.29.707 shipped WWE ROM)
4) Downloaded tt7.cab and installed it
5) Downloaded free New York City Map (which works fine)
6) The device also now sees the North America 715.17.12 map but when I try to select it, it says "Activation Code incorrect....blah blah blah" and gives me the Cancel Button

Now from this point, I tried installing the tt7p.cab (this is a no go, the device complains about the app not being digitally signed most probably because it's been modified and not signed by a trusted certificate)

I also tried using the C:\>Patcher.exe "TomTom Navigator.exe" trick, which patched the file, but it modified the file so when I run the Navigator now, it says "its not signed.....blah blah blah"....so I am stuck now...

somehow the patched file needs to be signed I am assuming and I don't know how to do it.

Good news, I have got this to work...maybe someone can simplify this process :)

Here is what I did:
1) Download your choice of maps (version 7XX.XXXX)
2) Use the Easytool to create a dct file, instructions are included with the tool, no need to use the patcher since TTUser has already provided the patched file, or you can patch it if you like (C:\>Patcher.exe "TomTom Navigator.exe") and you'll have your own patched file, here is the easytool
http://rapidshare.com/files/123863419/Keygen_TomTom_V7.10.rar
3) Copy Map data including the dct file to your Storage Card (I put that stuff in \Storage Card\My Documents\North_America_v715_2GB)
4) Now download and install TT7 located here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/123806420/ttn7.cab
5) Download the patched TT Navigator.exe file that TTUser Provided:
http://rapidshare.com/files/123863612/TomTom_Navigator_patched.rar
6) Go here: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/mobile/signcode.aspx
and follow instructions on how a) Create your own certificate, b) install certificate on your device 3) Sign the patched TomTom Navigator.exe file that you just downloaded
7) Once the TomTom Navigator.exe file is signed, replace the TomTom Navigator.exe on your device with the signed exe and launch the application, it will not complain about the app not being signed and will recognize the North America Map and let you use it.

Now I just need someone to simplify this process, otherwise I will have to install the signed certificate everytime I install the TomTom7 on my PDA :)

let me know if you have any questions, I have tested this to be working for me, should work for everyone else too.

1. Download ttn7.cab and install it on the device
2. Download the patched TomTom Navigator.exe file and copy it to device/intern geheugen/navigator folder overwriting the old one
3. Download the map we need and patch the .dct file using our device code in keygen.

Well i guess you don't have any maps, you can download a short citymap for free on the device (touch the button: certificate or coupon or something) after that touch the rightbottom and touch the aplication version (v7.blabla) then you will see your device code

I think all we need now is:
1. Download ttn7.cab and install it on the device
2. Download the patched TomTom Navigator.exe file and copy it to device/intern geheugen/navigator folder overwriting the old one
3. Download the map we need and patch the .dct file using our device code in keygen.

I can confirm that it works a treat with Western and Central Europe 7.20 plus the map shows now those nice 3D contours in the centers of large cities :)

nvm figured it out.

You just need to use an archiver which can both unpack and compress .cab files, with winrar you can only unpack files.

My question is how to use Mapshare. Somebody here says it works. But how do you do that ?
Are you using Tomtom Home v1.5.0.6 or v2.3.1.92 or another one ?

Repack2 is now available thaxxx to rab ppcwarez, This should fix the font problem, the device detection (that prevented it running on most devices) now thinks it's running on qvga rather than vga. Also, the colour scheme has improved from that nasty high contrast black one. This patch perhaps isn't ideal (for example, if you did want to run it on a vga device (if so use repack1)). A better patch would be welcomed.

Aeveryone

I suggest to stick with TTUser version on hack here for anyone with genuine HTC handset. the ppwarez version is ok, but have issues with BT stack. do not atempt to install unless you cannot get around using TTUser version. once againg, TTUser version is a clean hack, while PPWarez versio is something that I would not aprove. Just a word of caution to the ones that have not decided wich one is right to go with.'

once again: there are some serious issues in the PPwarez version, do not install this version unless you are out of luck with TTUser clean hack.

credits to TTUser, everyone should praise this person for all his enormous efforts into getting this one right for you, guys.

on my SD Card I have the folder navigator.
Here I have the Tomtom navigator.exe and data.chk and other files.
Inside this folder I have the folder voices.
Inside this folder I have the data*.chk, data*.bmp and data*.vif files.
e.g. \sd card\navigator\voices\data100.chk
Check if the .vif file (open it with notepad) contains the right entry for the corresponding voice.

folder "art" copy NOT TO CARD, but to memory of your device to PROGRAM FILES/NAVIGATOR. It will look like this: NAVIGATOR/ART/CARS. In this folder are car images...

I am in full agreement with Superduper, this is a very clean version.

download that file and follow those instructions. they are the easiest. i tried others instructions but didn't work for me but when i used digitalextre's i got it to work in one try. good luck.

Hey guys first of all I wanna say this site is the best and your guys are amazing for posting so quick helping us all out.

I have installed TomTom_Navigator_7.450.9028_repack2.cab over my old Navigator 6 and got my map working on my MIO 168 DIGIWALKER by just using the easyusetool and nothing else.

it works great I'm using uk map v7.15.1689

Now I have some questions

1. Is 7.20 the latest supported map by TT7 ?

2. is there anyway to get 8.05 map working ( yes i know it would not have IQR or ALG) so far it does not acknowledge it's existence on my card.

3 Are there any UK maps that support the Text To Speech for road names ?

thanks in advance you guys rule!

TTS needs the Loquendo voices (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=170022), and I don't think they're supported on WinCE / PDAs. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Hi y'all. Progress report :

ttn7 by ttuser installed on htc p3300 : maps 7 series work fine, internet connection OK for weather etc., tthome mapshare updates OK... however series 6 maps remain invisible, screen image refreshes slooowly with 1 to 2 second lag on real position.

ttn7 repack2 on asus 636n : maps 7 series OK....however no internet connection through bluetooth (works OK with ttn6), no mapshare updates, and....series 6 maps remain invisible, screen image refreshes slooowly with 1 to 2 second lag on real position.

TomTom 7 PDA screen rotation utility

It is very handy to have option to run TT7 for PDA in landscape and portret mode.
Unfortunately, HTC made Landscape mode unavailable for HTC Touch Diamond phones.

I have attached very handy utility developed for launching TomTom 7 PDA in one of the following modes:

1. Portret
2. Landscape Right Handed
3. Landscape Left Handed

drop this utility in "Navigator" folder on your PDA (TomTom Navigator.exe should be located in the same folder).
launch utility in file explorer on your PDA. choose screen orientation.

utility will launch TomTom in choosen mode. Screen will be reverted back to normal orientation as soon as you are out of TT7.

also, just to make your life easier:

1. you can add this utility to Programs Tab in TouchFLo

or

2. edit link to TomTom in program files folder and point link to TT7 launcher instead of TomTom.

(c) Getorix // TSRh

P.S. TomTom should have this code included and launch this mode chooser at the program startup. would be excellent, guys!

Thanks for sharing but when I tried to install on Ipaq HX4700 with WM5, it says not compatible with my device. Any suggestions? This a quote from member88 @ ppcwarez. this might be of help to you g/luc.

Hi All,

Thanks to all for making TT7 working on PDA!

Runs fine on HX4700 WM2003SE, running repack 2 (like the small fonts on VGA better )
39 MB RAM free and while running TT7 still have 20 MB or more free, so wonder why some PDA have a memory issue.
Running Western 1GB 7.20 map and all is fine, using BT drivers from ROM as BT driver in cab are v1.4.1 and ROM are v 1.5.0. Only using ttn6bt2003.dll from cab as not present in ROM

My installation procedure:

1) extracted cab file on PC
2) copied data.chk and TomTom Navigator.exe to TT7 folder on SD card.
3) Added Voices folder to the TT7 folder and added voice files.
4) Added map files in folder Western1GB on the root of the SD card. (Schemes, map folder(s), raster, ZIP, are all folders that should be added to the SD Card root. So don't place these folders inside the folder that contains TomTom Navigator.exe. Only add the Voices folder in the same folder as the .exe
5) Added the driver ttn6bt2003.dll to the Windows folder.

Hope it's clear. Love TT7, specially the map correction feature is very helpful.

Cheers

MapShare - HowTo procedure

1. launch TT7 PDA and in menu choose map correction: joint map corrections, select all options except "reported by some".

2. Exit from TT7 PDA, shut down TT Home on desktop.

3. move entire folder "Navigator" on you phone to \program file\ so it becomes:

\program files\Navigator

4. delete following files inside the your map folder. Do this for every single map you have on the phone:

SeverLineIdndex.dat
ServerNameIndex.dat

5. delete the following file in the root of your storage or memory card:

ttnavigator.bif

6. connect your phone to the desktop computer and ensure that it is recognised by ActiveSync or Windows Mobile centre (Vista).

7. Launch TT Home.

TT Home will (likely) to offer you 2 options:

a. program located in \program files\Navigator\
b. program located in \internal storage or storage card (on non-Diamond phone).

8. choose \internal storage or storage card.

9.TTHome will analyse your map and map share corrections will be offered to download for your phone this time.

also, you can now download new car cursors, sounds, colour schemes, voices, etc, etc.

ttnavigator.bif and all files deleted during this procedure will be automatically re-generated for you. Nothing to worry about.

I hope it helps. Let me know the outcome.

I have installed successfully on an IPAQ214. However the installation procedure overwrites some files connected with Bluetooth meaning that after reboot Bluetooth gives an error 'Insufficient driver memory to start bluetooth'. This can be cured by deleteing Btcoreif.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll. You will notice they are not the same date as all the other 'Bt' files and on deletion they are replaced by files with the same names but now with the standard dates. Whilst TTN7 would recognise my V 6.75 UK and IE map, my 6.50 Singapore map does not show in the map selection window. TTN6 sees both maps and can open both. Anyone any ideas as to why this might be ?

OK. I'm not so stupid, really ;)
I still have no idea what version of TTH you are talking about.
v2.3 doesn't recognize any device. It says 'Connect your device' and that's all.
v1.6 recognizes device (currently it even doesn't show device mismatch). It can see my car (including installed map) and program files directory (including program and voices). Clicking Update button TTH offers newer phone numbers. In Options/MapShare Settings menu only one item is active (setting for reply email). Categories and Removing maps corrections data is unavailable.

As far as I know, current 7 and 8 maps have the same content, excepting new v8 features like multiple line exits which doesn't work on TT7. So drop v8 maps and use v7 - you get the same result

However thanx for the attempt

I also have the same problem.. But is there anyone who got Mapshare working on a PDA?? I only read posts from people who have a HTC..

All you need to do is edit the pna file in your singapore map version from 650 to 675 useing word or note, then it will be seen with nav-7:oops2:

Got a problem with mapshare.

My version of Navigator was already in \program files. When I tried to move it to a sub folder TT Home would no longer recognise my HTC Wizard as a TomTom device.

Using v7 map on HTC Wizard. TT Home v1.6. TT Account logs in ok. Deleted .bif file. No *server files.

You may not move it to another subfolder. Just put Navigator map in Program Files. Than TomTomhome wil still not recognise your device? Just click "go on anyway"

Superduper, are you saying there is a way to get my IPAQrx5915 PDA loaded with V7 and 720 map USA (all in the internal memory) to communicate with TTH V2? If yes could you post the how to?

@ninja279

I believe that MapShare updates can be received on your device, It si in device compatibility list:

http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2102610&postcount=20

At this stage it is unknown if mapshare updates has been enabled for your model in particular on TT MapShare server. My understanding that as soon as TT7 is became availble bundled by HP later this year, your device will start receiving mapshare updates.
I don't have access to IPAQrx5915 at the moment unfortunately, therefore there is no chance for me to take a closer look at this issue.

I have an AT&T Tilt (aka HTC Kaiser) and I'm trying to figure out how to get mapshare to work. I followed all the directions in the earlier post and TTH can see my device but whenever I start TTH and tell it to look at my storage card, the automatic update it tries errors out saying:

Error when contacting server: You have an invalid version of the TomTom application installed on your TomTom device. To use HOME you need to install the correct version of the TomTom application.

I can hit the back button and use the TTH options normally except there's a button in the upper right that says "Your map is 41 weeks out of date 26375 free Map Share map corrections waiting" but if I click it, it doesn't find any updates. Did I screw something up?

Hi everybody

I followed all instructions to install mapshare but nothing happen. Tomtom home V2.3 doesn't see my PPC.

TT7 is installed in the central memory of my Etne M600 in the program files folder and I have removed the navigator.bif at the root of the SD card.

It seeems that I am not alone about this trouble. In certain cases TT home V2 doesn't detect the PPC !!!!

Any idea to solve this trouble

I am going to tell you step for step how I made Mapshare working on my computer.
I have "Navigator" installed in My device and the "Maps" are on my SD Card.

1) open TomTom 7 on your PDA and go to the menu for Mapshare corrections.
Tick all exept the last one.

2) Close TomTom 7 on your PDA. Now we will go on with installation of TomTomHome on your PC.

3) Go to the TomTom site. Make a Account. (or do you have one allready?).
After creating a account you have to go to the upper bar "My TomTom" and change
your device in "GO 720".

4) Download the TomTomHome version for the PNA (One, XL en Go.)
(don't download for the PDA) and install it. (Do not connect the PDA to your computer at

this moment.)

5) Go to your Device en cut the complete map "Navigator" to:
"Program Files" if you have an Englisch version of Windows Mobile on your PDA.
"Programmabestanden" if you have an Dutch version of Windows Mobile on your PDA.
(You can recognise the version, because when you have a Dutch version installed,
"programmabestanden" allready excist on My device.).

6) Allso remove the following files in "Maps" on you SD Card (If not found in "maps"
you don't have to search further, because it doesn't excist than):

SeverLineIdndex.dat
ServerNameIndex.dat

7) Remove "ttnavigator.bif" on your SD Card and in the map "Navigator" on My device.

8) Connect your Device to your computer and make shure that Active sync works.

9) Open now TomTomHome.

10) In TomTomHome you can choose between 2 options: Intern memory or SD Card.
Select SD Card or in Dutch "Opslagkaart".

11) TomTomHome wil now search for updates on your Device. It wil say that something was
going wrong during search. Just select the button "Back".

12) TomTomHome wil now search again. This searching can take a while, so be patient.
When search is ready you'll see that the mapshareupdates are ready to download.

13) Download your mapshareupdates and disconnect your Device.

14) At the next time you'll start up TomTomHome, you will have to start from step 10 again.

Good luck Kajoe

And here for the Dutch.

Even ter info.

daar het apparaat in GO 720.

fout is opgetreden. Druk daar gewoon weer op de knop "Terug"

12) TomTomHome zal nu weer verder gaan met "Laden". Dit proces kan even duren, dus
heb geduld.

moeten doen, vanaf punt 10.

Succes Kajoe

Thanks for that, but this version ("TomTom7_Diamond.cab") causes "Your device is not compatible with this version of TomTom VAVIGATOR". I have to use repack3 on my PDA.

Could you post screenshot of your "My Computer"? I mean this window where your partitions (disks) are listed.

Here is the screenshot from my device.

yes but the screen shot does not explain much, what do you take from each folder and where do you move it, or what do you delete from each folder. A simple explanation would be nice. many thanks

Hi to all. I made a Tutorial what made mapshare working on my HTC Touch Device. I made it complete with printscreens. And I made one in English and one in Dutch Language. Maybe this will help you all to get it to work. Please let me know if it worked. Good luck Kajoe:)

Hi to ALL!
I have Wizard (Qtek9100) and TT7. And mapshare works like a charm for me and my friends (doesn't matter which PDA to use - you just don't need it for mapshare!).
And why you want to need mapshare? To update your maps, right? So we with a friend of mine about a week share our MAPSHARE files (every day a few mapshare corrections) - look here http://rapidshare.com/users/9HRQAC
And if you can read russian - here is tutorial how to fool TomTom Mapshare and use just a flash-card to get the latest mapshare updates - http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=82653&view=findpost&p=1771241

BTW Two things you must do:
1. Copy 4 files from appropriated map folder to your map folder
2. Switch on mapshare option in your TT7:hifive:

You didn't read my post with attention - I didn't meant mapshare WILL read your device - I meant if it doesn't - don't worry! You have alternative:
- to use shared updates
- to use fake device for getting updates by yourself - but not your PDA device!

PS I believe they have a list of devices supported by TTHome - and Wizard doesn't belong to it (as much more devices). So choose your option!

PPS Do you want to upgrade your map? Or just want TTHome to SEE your device?:hehe:

I have an HP IPAQrx5915 PDA with tomtom6 preinstalled....Can i have tomtom7 running on my PDA???Where i find the software??I've tried several programs but all of them said that they are not compatible with my device...A little help will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

I deleted TT6 from my 5915 (map as well), I then ran SKtools cleaner.
I copied repack and map into the 'IPAQ GPS' folder then ran the cab. After install I did the keygen then soft reset. I now have a good working TT7 in the 'IPAQ File Store', IGO and Gamin XT on the 4G SD card.

I have an RAC 215E

deleted the Route66 software and everything else from the SD card, and installed TT7

the TT software works fine, but its just refusing to find the maps no matter what i do, im now using repack 3 and still no use in finding the maps.

the maps are the uk maps and are in the root folder of the SD card where i also have tomtom installed.

as far as i can tell everything is fine and should be working, but its just a no go, also wont let me download a free map so im stuck with tomtom and no maps which is about as useful as a chocolate teapot in a hot bath!

So any clues as to what it could be would be great.

I've been working on getting this working now for 2 days and im going slightly mad

Please, note I DID NOT try it, I have NO IDEA if this work, etc. I just translated howto from russian page into english using Google Translator:

III. Updates maps, radar, etc.
It starts with version 7 TT supports custom corrected maps and sharing via TomTom
Updates are a few files (ServerNameIndex.dat ServerLineIndex.dat PatchFilter.dat MapServerPatch.dat) and are accumulating, that is follow include previous.

How to use
copy updates for your card for example hence (http://rapidshare.com/users/9HRQAC) and store it in a folder with a map
independently receive updates and much more from the server TomTom (see video instruction and flash image in the archive http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/1769378/TomTomShare.rar)
Take a clean flash, which vlezaet your card (s) and remains to be 100 meters
put on the flash card (s) and rapakuyte archive http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/1769378/TomTomShare.rar to it
2 install TomTom Home from the site tomtom http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/applicati...E2winlatest.exe (http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/application/home2latest/TomTomHOME2winlatest.exe)
install the device emulator (under Operate my ToTom), close TomTomHome
propatchite emulator and sgenerite code for the card under an emulator (Tools folder at the root of flash: tt7_map_keygen.cmd and tth_dll_patch.cmd), DeviceID emulator for AKVAEA2CQA (You can see in the file at the root ttgo.bif flash)
run TomTomHome, go to emulator (Opereate my TomTom), make sure that your card is activated and in the section Map Corrections agree to accept updates (see video instruction)
go to Update my TomTom, you will be offered updates for your card (if available). To do so, create an account on the site tomtom.com (https://www.tomtom.com/myTomTom/myProfile/index.php?TT=7a1281a6%3Ababa37bd%3A00000000%3A0000 0000%3A00000000%3A00000000%3Ai0gngc0of55pdiblanbcm abmv5)
I have not met updates for the maps of cities, that is if you rasschityvate receive updates for Moscow, need your full regional map (for example Western_and_Central_Europe_720.1803) where there is Moscow, rather than the map of the city itself

P.S.
1) File "X:\tools\tt7_map_keygen.cmd" may don't exist in archive and file "tth_dll_patch.cmd" may need some modification. Please, check http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2123093&postcount=273

http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2122230&postcount=270 - so this the instruction. Note: only files of TT7-fake must be in the flash-card, and of course maps with *.dct files for fake device - in the root of card (TT7 emulator will read them from any folder of the card, but TTHome - not. It sees maps ONLY in the root).
And below I attached several screen shots of my fake TTOne with freshly updated maps

* independently receive updates and much more from the TomTom server (see video instruction and flash image in the archive http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/1769378/TomTomShare.rar)
o Take a clean flash, which contains your map(s) and remains to be 100 mbytes free

o install the device emulator (under Operate my ToTom), close TomTomHome
o patch emulator (can use "easyusetool" from TTuser) and generate key-code for the map(s) in emulator (Tools folder at the root of flash: tt7_map_keygen.cmd and tth_dll_patch.cmd), DeviceID for emulator AKVAEA2CQA (You can see in the file ttgo.bif at the root of flash)

Anyone else having an issue with TomTom Plus services? I have TTN7 installed on my Tilt and I tried logging in with my account, but I get an error saying that the service is not available in my region (yet). These services, including traffic and weather, worked when I was running TTN6 and still work if I reinstall it, but I just get errors when I try them on TTN7. Any ideas?

Jesus Pug, what's with the three posts in three minutes????
just go through the 'Change preferences' screens until you get to 'Show GPS Status' (Five screens I think).

Open 'Show GPS Status' and select 'Configure'
Select 'Other NMEA GPS Receiver'
GPS Baud Rate 9600
Com Port 7

After about 10 seconds you should see the 'Poor GPS Reception' come up.
Note, depending on your view of the sky it could take a few minutes to get a lock.

Next time you want to ask a question, once will do.

the map that <i have to copy in the flash must be activate with the serial below, with the serial of my ppc, or must be not-activated?You have to activate it (use map7_map_keygen) with id from howto. After using MapShare you have to reactivate is using your's PDA id to be able to use this map. Or you can (after using MapShare) copy 4 updates files to map that is already activated with your's PDA id.

what is the code for the files *.cmd if i use windows in italian version? You have to modyfify "tth_dll_patch.cmd" only. Enter C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\ and look for analogue of "Application data".
