Let me provide more info on these apps mates....

Jbaktools is altogether a different app still in development(although author seems to have lost interest in this one a bit) and is quite buggy. It provides various tools like NoRedKey, it hijacks the left & right softkeys on the standby screen to provide shortcut menus of its own. Other features include Clipboard history, quick language change & some more. As of now it just drains your battery & UI is buggy.

The Pencil is exactly what NP has described. It has no UI and you have to edit the file mentioned manually. To use the missing pencil key functionality you need to have a key on your phone that can be dedicated for this functionality. Because after mapping that key it will loose its original functionality (like the camera key). This app was designed to be used out-of-box on E90 and default scancode defined in INI file is PTT key.

To use the Pencil app you don't have to install JbakTools. As for finding the scancode of the key you desire to use, use the Jbak Keycode app posted here ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).

I wish this app would emulate the middle ok key.with pencil key...isnt there any way to make it emulate other key.

I think it will still work.. I tried using the multi-Media button for N82, it works.
Only catch is the Multi-Media button will still launch that menu, and I could also activate another program using that combination of "Pencil" + "0"..

Now I can haf the pencil button in the simple 6120C!

Is it possible to change the assigned key back to what it was? i don't want it stuck as pencil if i don't like it, or want to change back.

If you don't wanna get stuck the only way out is to uninstall the app
You require the scancode of a key to which you can assign the pencil function ;) Check out this post [Only registered and activated users can see links]

I must say tis app is really useful. Especially for people like me who use Xplore alot. Thanks NP bro :)

Josh81.. U can use the camera button as replacement for pencil button. The scancode for camera button is 171.
U can just edit thepencil.ini like described in post#1.
Althou it has no autostart feature but u can use powerboot to make it autostart everytime phone reboots :)

Moreover I think if we want to restore the function of assigned button, We can just edit again thepencil.ini to previous scancode the reboots phone..

Or just close/kill application using TaskSpy.


When you want it to be active again, just open it from phone's Menu

what program can i use to edit the PENCIL.ini file , jbak tools will not install on my N82 ( i think becuase of russian lang,my phone EMEA), ybrowser and active file cannot edit the THEPENCIL.ini file

so the scancode tool shortly shows me scancode 186 then opens the menu...
I closed it and opend "thepencil" after that i have edited the pencil.ini changed scancode to 186.
But the menu will still open. there's no penic key :(

Try using AnimGui ([Only registered and activated users can see links])to find the scancode ;)

same thing. gives me code 186
but it won't give me the codes of the volume keys.

So, why doesn't ThePencil work if i put 186 in that ini file?
