Development releases are snapshots of the ongoing development process. As such:
they have not undergone the same degree of testing as a full release.
Features in development releases may be incomplete, or may change or be removed before the next full release.

New development version - v1.41 (April 29th, 2008)

This version includes a partial redesign of the settings menu. The settings were re-grouped into a hierarchy of submenus, which you can quickly access by pressing the keys corresponding to the menu option numbers (for example, press Menu-7-2-1 for Settings/Maps/Map types).
MGMaps v1.41 also includes some other changes and new features:

Panning speed control (Settings/Maps/Panning) — allows you to configure the speed/acceleration for the map movement.
Double size mode (Settings/Display/Double size) — a "pixel doubling" effect useful if your screen resolution is high and the map appears too small. Note that this feature causes intensive use of the phone processor and the application may seem less responsive.
Zoom levels control (Settings/Maps/Zoom levels) allows zooming 2 levels at a time in order to zoom in quickly to street detail, and to reduce the bandwidth used.
Optionally show the speed in knots (Settings/Display/Units).
More font type options (Settings/Display/Font).

MGMaps v1.41.02 Import/Export Favorites [update 1-06-08]

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

A new development version of MGMaps is out, with the following changes:

* You can now export favorites to a KML file in the filesystem or import them from a previously saved list. In order to do this, open Menu->Favorites and select Export KML or Import KML in the menu. Tip: you can import placemarks from any KML file into the favorites list using the Import KML feature.
* Added support for OpenStreetMap Cycle Map, you can enable it in Settings/Map Types.
* "Cancel" now closes the menu completely, instead of going back to the parent menu. You can navigate through the menus using the arrow keys, up/down - scroll menu, right - open submenu, left - go back to parent menu.
* The "Startup" favorite is no longer shown in the favorites list.
* Fixed problem with odd/even zoom levels.
* Map versions were updated to point to the latest maps/imagery.
* Other minor problems were fixed.

OK, I searched the thread for caching maps for Mobile Gmaps, but did not find anything so...

There is a way to cache LARGE maps into your phone memory card, and browse through the map offline. With the following way, you can download ANY maps you want, with ANY detail level you want, copy them to your phone and use them offline.

1) Download gMap Maker, attached herebelow
2) Go to the link h77p://[Only registered and activated users can see links] and mark the area you wish to download. Yoy can state the detail level of the map by increasing/decreasing the zoom level.

After you create the .map file from the site in part 2, just open the file with gMapMaker, and start downloading. Be patient, it takes a while. After that, just copy the resulting FOLDER to the cache folder of Mobile Gmaps in your mem.card.

Thats all! You now have offline maps of your area on your phone OFFLINE...
