yes you can play ps1 games in ps2...

if you wish to use save game options of ps1 games, simply use ps1 mem-card in ps2....

I consider that backward capability as a great plus for the ps2...



its a shame this backward compatibility hadnt continued with the ps3, only the early ps3 can do this,
in Sony's wisdom, the later revisions pf ps3 that came out cheaper with the 40gb drive had the chips left out of the modded mobo which then only allowed them to play ps3 games...

sony reckoned that a survey of ps3 owners showed they didnt want backward compatibility, (I am not so sure I believe that, more like purely a cost cutting exercise)
