Quick question......I downloaded an application (easy media creator) that had 7 RAR Files.
After Unrar'ing the seven files I then got a folder with more files to unrar, nothing unusual but bare with me for a second.....
The folder contains the following:
core.nfo 12 kb (In the past I just ignore this and things are fine)
(Haven't understood what an .nfo file does but that's another question for later)
Next in the Folder: A serires of WinRar File Types from OO to 29
For example:
cr-emc10.rar 15,360kb WinRaR archive
thru
cr-emc10r29 15,360kb WinRar archive
(now is when the trouble starts...I think)
The next file in the series changes file type to R30File Type
For example, the next file is:
cr-emc10.r30 15,360kb HOWEVER it is an R30FILE not WinRaR archive
thru
cr-emc10.r45 8,013kb R45File again not winrar archive
The files 30 to 45 are all the same RxxFile Type (which I'm not familiar with)
Finally there is an .sfv file (cr-emc10.sfv 2kb)
{I don't understand this .sfv file type also....but it has not given me trouble in the past}
So I continue the next unRaR process and ignore this unfimiliar RxxFlie type.
lt finishes with what appeared to be a good .iso image, so I then burned the iso from Nero onto a DVD and tried to install.
The DVD/CD Drive would start up, get up to speed like it was starting to install but then went quiet (ie; It would not install)
Can anyone help? Also educate me on this RxxFile Type?
All responses would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank You!!!!

you'll need ALL those Rxx files (from 00 through 45, including *.RAR one) in one folder. From there, unrar them and you'll have ENTIRE app (which is contained in all archived files) :egdance:
If you want to split one big file in smaller RAR files, then you'll have so many Rxx files...

Thank you for your response!
To clarify....I treat these Rxx File Types just like a Rar File?
Which is what I originally did and when I unRaR'd it appeared to work resulting with an .iso file
Then I burned to a dvd, tried to install but with no luck
Here was the post that I downloaded from

I tried to get a screen shot to help but could not get a .doc or .jpg that satisfies this site requirements.
I'm totally new at this so .....sorry for "just not getting it" and thanks for your help!

Hey wafunguy, try this one thing (do remember to take a backup first)....
rename the files from 00.rar to 29.rar as 10.r00 to 10.r29 etc...
for example, cr-emcr11.rar to cr-emc10.r11, cr-emcr29.rar to cr-emc10.r29
your files should look like this...
[Only registered and activated users can see links] extract by opening cr-emc10.rar file...
if its an iso file it should be in the range of 700 mb
now either burn it or better mount it in a virtual drive through s/w like "daemon tools" and install it...
give feedbacks...

Jay,
Thanks for the feedback!
I was able to end up with an .iso file "cr-emc10.iso" which was 777 MB (815,722,652 bytes). Then burned to a DVD with Nero Vision, verified the burn and everything appeared to be successful.
However when I go to install from the DVD, Nero Vision pops up automatically and acts like it wants to burn it again. A couple of thoughts......1) my settings in Nero are not done properly 2) For some reason it seems to be wanted to be put on a CD rather then DVD, which is kinda odd as I think the file size is too big for CD.
I'm just about to give up and have kinda shyed away from mounting the image on a "virtual drive" as I've never done that before and have been short of time to 1) find/learn a program 2) almost think it might be easier to attempt finding another download of Easy Media Creator and try that version
Long story short I was looking for an altenative to burn .avi files to play on most DVD players and using Nero takes like 2.5 hours for just one movie!
Any thoughts, ideas or feedback would still be very appreciated!
Thanks to all for the help....I'm really starting to enjoy this forum and will next attempt to find a navigation program for my HTC Mogul....but the task seems daunting with the endless amount of time that seems to tackle with my "beginner" learning curve!
Cheers!

If your main purpose was to be able to watch avi files on DVD players...you need to convert them (NERO did convert them and that's why it took 2.5 hours). You don't need easy media creator anyway. You have two choice:
**1**
What you need is "WinAVI video creator". This program can (very fast too) convert your avi files to a compatible "DVD structure" folders (containing idx, vob, etc files) (you might get two folders, AUDIO/VIDEO-the audio folder have nothing in there). Just burn the folders or the files in VIDEO with NERO with the option "burn DVD video". NERO usually check for consistency before burning so if you make a mistake it won't burn.
**2**
Go buy a dvd player that can play DIVX files (like a Phillip DVP model). These can usually play Xvid files too which is what most movies you get online are encoded with.
As for Virtual Drive, they are easy to use. Once you have it running (daemon tool), an icon will appear on the lower right task bar. Just right-click on it and 'mount drive' to look for the ISO or image files you want to use. The Image will then appear under "my computer" as if it's a cdrom.
I hope this is too much info to take in at once. Good luck. If you have more question, ask away. If you're the type who like to do their own searching, head over to dvdrhelp.com for lots of info on video conversion and other general info.

Oh yeah. Forgot about the Rar situation. Usually, if you open the file SFV with notepad, it will list all the rar files that you SHOULD have in order for the complete extraction. In this case, if you are able to get an ISO image, I am assuming you did right.
One thing about multiple rar files is that No matter how many files you have, the only one that you need to extract is the first files. For example, if your files have a .rar file, just right-click on it and "extract here". This action will extract from all of the rar files (including those with r00, r01,r02,etc). If you don't see a .rar file, you can start with .r00 or .r01.
Good luck and have fun messing around.

Thanks for the help!!!!!
The missing link was "WinAVI video creator", as I was really trying to speed up my DVD burning time and thought Nero was painfully slow.
WinAVI is an outstanding program and easy to use!
What a great forum this is!!!!
