I put it in maps folder and i steel see just the green earth map without continents and seas, just detail of Romania, the detailed map that i have. by the way, what wcl file do you use?

I used the one from the package with the 7.50319 posted by waynek (post #248). It's just 1 file inside wcl.pak dated 27.02.2008. Before that I had a wcl folder with many files (10-15) that came (I think) with Eastern Europe map 7.54 (where Romania was 800k) - it worked just the same. Of course to view the land/sea you must browse map and use zoom out (0 or 1) otherwise you are in Europe and only see green.
Maps folder has:
Allmaps.mlm
license.txt
ROU folder
WCL folder
other map (I have BELgium)

I'm quite disapointed - I still get kernel-exec 3 after 5-10 km - maybe it,s because my N80 has not enough memory, when I start McGuider I always get the message that I should restart phone to have at least 10 MB free (although before staring the app. I have about 14-15 MB free).

It's a new format. I think ioji posted some pages back a converter that he said converts TomTom POIs to new Sygic. I didn't try it yet.

I use N95 8gb and i tested, it works fine, just the map is bad, don't have the numbers,it just take you to the middle of the street, Visualfun scew up the map,just put it in archive the old poi and index but they are not compatible.

It's very simple: open the app, pres the ov2 to upi button, select the file and that's it. You're done.

Copy the folders to your memory card, install the sis file and copy the map you need in "maps" folder. But, attention, you will need the license for it. It's up to you to get it from russian site.

Unless you have an associated icon you only see a grey icon with i question mark on the map. You find them in the poi section. It works. I've done it.

If you have done that with Ov2Upo v2.3, ok, than go to E/drive/symbian, open "settings.ini" and check if "poivisible" is set to "true" not false. The version that i downloaded had the settings this way and changing it made the POI visible.

yes, each country is in its own folder.
inside root/maps/ is only *.mlm file which points to maps. And also license.txt file.

No, the maps are not locked, just the software.If you got a license, it will work. You don't need two mlm files, just edit the one you have by adding the name of the second map.

Now with my N95 8gb i will test the gps. I never succeeded to run the gps... Never had the patience to wait those first 10min... How much time will it take with my N95 8gb..

Hi could you let me know where I have to extract the speed camera files and put them. In the old version it was like this:

Put the .bmp images to Memorycard:\Sygic\Icons and the .upi files to your maps folder (Memorycard:\Maps\UK or something).
Then you can select the POIs from the poi-menu of sygic mobile

But in this version I don't have a sygic folder and can't find an icon folder.

Yes, it is working now. But there is no Romania map?

Ok, downloaded the prog and maps. :) But cannot run it. When I'm trying to install it I get "update error" and when I try to run it ( shows up in applications as soon as I push the card in) I get "unable to execute file for security reasons" Any ideas please. :)

Solved the issue. I have 2 cards , one with the old version of sygic , that is the one installed and working on the phone. I've been trying to install MCGuide on the second card and was not working. I had to uninstall Sygic and than the install worked fine. The old maps ( 2008.Q1) are working fine to.

Edit: I solved the problem:
I did copy the folder Sygic_DriveS60 onto my root-folder of the memory card.
But it only works, when you copy the folders, that are inside the "Sygic-DriveS60"-Folder (e.g. drive,maps...) onto the root-directory.

i dont think there are improvements in maps anyway.many of them can be worst than previous released too.The so said new maps are only in .pak format.their size maybe less so less detailed.

Yes you can, go to settings/hardware/port com and change it (define).

I can't see those settings at all. All it ever does is connect to the integrated GPS, which only ever finds one satellite on my Nokia N95 8GB.

If I go to settings -> GPS Hardware, I see no settings to change to distant GPS.

I see COM Port:

In there I can select Integrated GPS or Assisted GPS. Neither seems to have any effect. There is a 3rd option of Define... but I don't know what to put in there to get it to see my Bluetooth BT GPS.

There's BAUD Rate which always stays at 9600. It shows a slider bar, but I cannot get it to move.

Then there is Turn GPS Mobile On / Turn GPS Module off. That does not seem to have any effect.

There is Synchronise Time.

There is also Autodetect, which always finds the integrated GPS.

There is also Wizard, which again always finds the integrated GPS.

I don't know whether I have the correct version for the Nokia N95 8GB to get it to see a bluetooth GPS.

In ABout Sygic Mobile it says:

The Benelux map do i have but Sygic can't find a big place named Eindhoven in The Netherlands.

i have some question
my country maps are in a folder rite
should i rename that folder into my country's name or not before i copy it to E:\Maps ?

I've put in maps folder ita.mlm, fra.mlm, allmaps.mlm, a folder containing Italy map a folder containing France map and a folder containig WLC related to Italy map. When i switch sygin on i can choose the map. If i choose italy map program works normally, if i choose france map program works normally, if i choose allmaps program stop (kernel-exec 3 error). In other words allmaps (that should combine both maps allowing to calculate a trip from ita to france) does'nt work. Any comment?
P.S. if i remove from maps folder ita.mlm and france.mlm leaving allmaps.mlm program stop as well.

I know from my TomTom version that i can mae a trip from The Netherlands to Italy.
But if i have installed the maps Benelux, Germay, Austria, Italy on my micro SD card.
I can't calculate the same trip with Sygic.
Has someone here the solution for calculate this trip?

A friend of my gives me the advise to install Garmin on my N95.

If i calculate a trip in the same land,Sygic shows it nice.

1 day later.
Yesterday I placed the allmaps.mlm on the sd card with the wrong maps.
I had token the old maps and not the new with the***.pak
After this action i made self a mlm file.
Tomorrow i navigate to my work and calculate a route for testing to Italy.
It works.

I surely know that. I mentioned in my post that it finds Antwerpen but not Anvers, it also finds in Brussels Koningstraat but not Rue Royale, and so on. Very frustrating for non-Flemish speakers.

"this is" = WCL, is world globe - you can see it, when you zoom out. (Usefull, when you are in the plane, for instance ;-) )

i use sygic with a indonesianmap ,,yeah when i first use sygic when i try to browse a map is error and say kern exec-3,,u must to go to setting>hardware setting>com port and chosse gps assisted and u must open your slide on n95( u must in outside your home) and a phone will finding a gps signal wait for a minute,,and it will browse a map automaticly

Same happened to me. I had a previous Sygic installed. If that is Your case to, You have to uninstall Sygic first and then install McGuider.

When i choose the All Maps, the initialising take more than 5 minutes.
I quit the initialising. for my feellenigs there's happenend nothing.

I know it works with *.upi files and *.bmp files.
But i don't know where i have to place it on my memorycard.
Can someone help me please?

If i start MCGuider after the first screen there's an message about you device hass less than 10.00mb of free memory.

I know for sure there's more tha 1.5 GB free on the memory card.
Also i know for sure that there still 128 mb of memory on the phone are.
Did someone have the same problem and solve it?

I mean in country folder. Did you made the upi file with Ov2Upi translator v 2.3? Just this version is compatible with Sygic McGuider.

after you copy the files to country folder you have to set visible it in POI coniguration menu. Moreover you can edit application.skin (xml file format) file and add lines witch names, patchs and icons for the poi sound alarms. After you need copy these files to res/sound folder. The sound alarm files must be in ogg format with wav extension. So you need to rename files eq example.ogg to example.wav

I mean in country folder. Did you made the upi file with Ov2Upi translator v 2.3? Just this version is compatible with Sygic McGuider.

No, i have done it with version 2.1 i saw.
version 2.3 from the rapid page from here gives an initialization error.

Yes it will. Don't worry about that. You might, however, need to activate the maps again the same way you did it before.

it was not necesary to activate anything in 7.0 sygic drive.
now i needed to activate maps, and that went well but my map is not working.
it's showing that "all maps" is loaded but I see no streets and in search there is nothing.

EDIT: [HRV] was missing in All maps.mlm - now I added it and it's different but does not work. it says KERN EXEC-3 when I try to search, and if I browse map than the program freezes.

7.5x beta versions of Sygic DO NOT WORK with maps that worked with 7.089 or 7.199 whatever some people say. You will get KERN EXEC-3 forever until you put a new map.
I uploaded an initial map of Croatia that was part of the mockery Eastern Europe Sygic released for testing. At the time (19 march) I was envious of Croatians that their map was 5,5 MB while Romania was only 800k.
It should stop the initial kern-exec.

5.5 MB is still small. just look at the garmin adria route how detailed it is! but the software sucks kindof.

Yes, it seems McGuider is out with retail release (at least according to [Only registered and activated users can see links]) on SD card. We hope that soon we'll find it also on this forum. Your version is a beta.
The change of name and retail channel (now sold by TeleAtlas) is marketing.

On Romanian site allview.ro news of 24.03.2008 announce that XP version of Sygic is no longer available. This might mean that the development for this platform has been discontinued and therefore version poosted by Ioji is the latest.

I've installed in N95 8GB without problem. There were some issues with the screen as I only saw half of it, but when rotate the N95 the issue dissaper. You can also control this from the Sygic program rotaing the screen as you like. It works now well in either position.

I do not like the postcode for the UK such it does not have all the codes, however this may be solved later on when a new version is released. Everythig else seems to work. The internal GPS works well and I am pleased .. a the moment. I will be testing the program later on this week when I will be driving from Scotland to London.

Hi, Did had the same problem with my N95 8GB, however problem solved. You have to start Sygic in landscape mode. After you can swich back to what ever mode you like.

But who can tell me how i can calculate a route without the Ferry.
I know 100% sure that i can go to Cavallino (Italy) only on roads but McGuider said that i have to use the Ferry.

Who knows about it how to disable or remove it from the calculated route.
It doesn't matter that i use the traffic diversion.

Hi Fredsworld, I will tell You how I do it on N82.

After calculating the route, click Details. There is the screen with the motorways, Toll Roads, Ferry .... As You go to the right , when You get at the Ferry icon, push the UP arrow and You will get a question to avoid Ferry's.

Also Sygic has problems when no destination is set and only the current position during driving is displayed. The boosted recalculation as stated by other on different forums I didn't check. I'll do this this afternoon. However, still some work to do for Sygic, but I consider this baby as a very good replacement for TomTom who lost interest in Symbian and PDA versions (but is still the best).

OK, here are testresults of Sygic v7.50.514. Recalculation of route is really improved. But it takes about 30 to 60 seconds before Sygic notes that the route is different from the initial calculated one. Lag between actual position and displayed position is still few hundred meters. POI do not work properly (probably due to lag), POI sound is set, but not played. Still a lot of work to do by Sygic. However, the graphics are really lovely, lane indication is good. But as long as there is a lag, I miss exits, especially in small villages with a lot of roads. Then it is better to get off the road and wait until Sygic finds the actual position again.

position lag? i didn't notice any. which phone model do you have? try to set fps=4.0 or something smaller (2.0) in settings.ini file.

I have a nokia N82 and Sygic works perfectly without lag. But after I added the speedcamera's it lags like hell! I haven't even added the speedcamera's to be shown on the map I only installed them on my memorycard and Sygic starts lagging. Is this trick going to prevent that?
