I think all of you know that Symbian Signed has changed its system: nobody without a Publisher ID can create developer certificates anymore, instead users are forced to use the new Open Signed Online System.

So I decided to create another easy to understand tutorial which is working perfectly. Furthermore, I changed the design of the screenshots a little bit, I hope you like it!

The new system has some advantages and also disadvantages. Signing is actually a piece of cake with the new system, you don’t even need an account anymore.
However, you can only sign applications which are using unprotected UID range. That means that some great freeware can currently not be signed.

I am using the great signing freeware “GenialSis 2.0″ which has a great new function to even facilitate signing with Open Signed.
The signing process should be no problem for all of you with these few easy steps to follow.

Signing with Open Signed Online:

1. Download the necessary software “GenialSis 2.0″ here ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

2. Extract the whole archive into a folder on your hard disk.

3. Open the folder where you extracted the files with the Windows Explorer and launch the file “GenialSis.exe”.

4. In the application, select the register card “OpenSigned”.

5. Select “Open” to choose the unsigned application you want to sign.

6. Open the folder where the unsigned application is stored and select it.

Don’t choose more than one application at the same time! Although this seems to be possible as “GenialSis” doesn’t display an error message, Symbian Signed doesn’t support the upload of various applications at the same time. If you try to do this, only your last added file will be signed.

7. Back in the main application, type in your email address in the “eMail” field.

8. Type in the “IMEI” of your phone. You can find it out by entering “*#06#” on your phone keyboard.

9. Having all the necessary information entered, you can choose “Sign!”.

Now the application executes all the steps automatically the user would actually have to do on the Symbian Signed website. It types in your “IMEI number”, “Email” and enters the path of the unsigned “Application”.

10. However, the “Security code” must still be entered manually by the user. Type in the shown sequence of letters and numbers and “Confirm” your entry.

If the message shown in the screenshot appears, you are trying to sign an application using protected UID range. As I said, you cannot sign such applications with Open Signed Online. At the moment there is unfortunately no other solution than using a developer certificate if you still have one, or waiting for the developer to release a new version of his application.

I have included a list of signable / unsignable applications at the bottom of this tutorial.

If the message shown ahead appears, you entered an “Invalid security code”. So do step 9 once again until…

… this message appears. Your file has been successfully uploaded.

11. Then open your email application or the Internet address of your email provider to receive the confirmation mail of Symbian Signed which has been sent to your entered email address.

After a little time, you should find a mail from SS which contains a “Confirmation link”. Choose this link to confirm your request of receiving a signed file. Your request is now being worked on.

12. After another period of time, you should receive another email from SS which contains a download link of your signed application.

Many people are signing their files, so it can take some time until you receive this mail. ;)

Select the “Download link” to download your signed application.

13. Choose “Save” or whatever this word means in your language.

14. Choose the location where you want to save the signed application and select “Save”.

That’s it. Even easier then the old system, isn’t it? I hope you all understand how to sign with the new system, it should be very easy with the great “GenialSis” software.

You can now install the signed application on your phone as usual.

i agree with u cause all u have to do i 3 steps.. put your imei put your email and last put the sis flie u want to sign it and that's all.. u don't have to complicate the things :P :iphonepost:

This mean the new system of Symbian Sign is advantage for people dont have account there and people didnt sign an application before because some of the unsigned application now available for signing via open sign......but sure disadvantage for others and but i only hope nice people here to find a way to sign the cracked applcation even if its complicated....

I've been looking for this guide for quite some time but I'm having some problems in installing the the Genialsis.exe...It says "you must first install one of the following versions of the .Net framework: v.2.0.50727.Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .Net framework"...Hope you could help me on this

There are suggestions that OPDA have obtained a key file that enables them to produce offline DevCerts.

Here is a guide on how to register at their site and apply for a DevCert.

This sounds quite plausible, given that someone seems to have succeeded in obtaining a key file that enables the production of OFFLINE DevCerts without having to go through Symbiansigned.

It looks as if the whole security and signing process has been blown wide open. However, you DON'T have to pay any money for it.

It looks quite genuine - apparently they are producing around 2,000 to 3,000 DevCerts every day!

Well, if that forum works the same as this one, you only need to post your IMEI until you receive your DevCert, then you should be able to delete your original post - or at least edit your IMEI out of it.

Given that you'll then have a working DevCert to use offline with ANY unsigned application, isn't it worth the risk?

it's worth the risk, IMO. SS won't be going back to the previous method to obtain a certificate any time soon...

I've checked all the messages regarding the "Open Signed Online" and such, and I fully agree with geojoking: SS won't create any more ".cer" to sign offline for free, so I would take the risk of obtaining a ".cer" from OPDA forums. By checking if the "app e-mail" is the same as the "signing request e-mail", and refusing to sign the app if the two e-mails don't match, SS has found the perfect way of avoiding people signing cracked applications until the core of the .cer creation is cracked.

I also believe that the posts and certificates obtained at the OPDA forums mean that OPDA members have found a way of cracking the security certificates and creating their own certificate for offline signing. Nonetheless, I think that if this is the case and they have found out how the certification system works and how to apply the algorithm to create their own certificates, the ones who should be VERY worried are VeriSign, the banks and shops that use security certificates and such, because the system is not as secure as they want us to think...

I don't think that the "allfiles" capability is active in OPDA's certificate. In fact, it wasn't even available in the SS certificate (if it had been active in SS's cert, it would be as simple as re-signing an archive such as X-Plore with your own cert and see the protected files in C:, and Nokia is already aware of this...)

@danny_ws2000 it can be signed.You have freeware version that can be sign Online on SS.You have it on the forum and it works fine.That post is locked because of the rules, but you can download :D .

Yes you can overcome that by using a 110mb mail or something like that, but, what I fail to understand is, What will you get after registering at SS?. For OpenSigning, public E Mails are allowed, and, after registering, you cant get your CER Files, nor, can you sign any extra files when compared to Open Signed.

So, please, can you explain what benefits will you gain when you register there?

Just an update I said i'd let people know when I got my cert, just downloaded and i'm goign to test it out. I need to find a signing program now. It looks like OPDA are producing quite a lot of certs per day because I was way down the list and have only had to wait about 3 days.

Please someone answer me!!! The java app and games that are on the site whenever i try to install them on my phone give the #certificate error# message. On the other hand the symbian ones the #certificate expired# message so i just change the date of the phone and everything is ok. with a cert i will be able to sign java apps that give me the #certificate error# or not.Please anwser because i ve read on the forum that people can only install their java apps without a cert and i feel pretty much stupid:hahaha2:

.jar file marks the classic Java applications but also some applications symbian.

Java applications no need certication.

Make sure you install on your phone only java file (.jar)

i don't know what i am doing wrong but i cannot do what you are saying!!! I have installed hundrends of apps and games in the past on my phone and now i cannot install any java app. it stops near the end of the installation and gives me the #certificate error# message. i have no such problem with signed+cr*cked .sis applications.only with the cr*cked java (.jar) applications and games that are uploaded on the site...
p.s i have a Nokia 6290 (fp1) if this has apoint anyways...
