I Have a AMD 64 1800 Mhz platform pc having hard disk of 80 GB divided in Drive C 10 GB & Drive D 67 GB.
I am currently using win 2000 on my pc and want to install win XP on it.
I have already tried to install win Xp on Drive D, but iam not able to remove win 2000 which was already installed on Drive C on my pc.
So please can someone assist me to completely format my hard disk and freshly install win Xp on it.

have you tried booting frrom DVD? [f8 key]

Boot ur disc frm cd rom and when u reach to installation option delete both partion if u want to make the complete format.it will show yo u the unpartion space now make 4 partion of equal size c,d,e,f(e.g if it is showing 78000mb make 4 partion of 19500mb each) do a complete format of c with ntfs and then install xp.Hope this will help you.

It is not compulsory to make 4 partion its my personal advice coz in c and d you can use two os at a time and in rest e & f drives u can save your data so that if u make any future format your data can be saved although you can make 2 ,3,4,6 or whatever you like i just gave my idea.

insall w98 first ,than install xp as a new install on a other partition

if you want other os's you must use a bootmanager

Find the maker of your hdd then download a test/installer utility from their site,you should be able to format and take the drive back to like it was new,write zeros to the complete drive then format it,the tool will have all instructions.

Hey u have first choice use Acronis Disk Director suite, This is the very simple for u, don't do anything just try this & enjoy, U can do anything with Acronis Disk Director suite ... Even if u have FAT or NTFS partition.
