I had the same problem .. but i made it work.
I first installed the old version soccerbuddy_en v1.0 J2ME.jar
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Created an account in this version.

After that i installed the new version 1.2 (overwrite), the first account (from the 1.0 verstion) is stil there and I could login on the 1.2 version.

So id say its an update

Bit of a pain, as you need to activate / deactivate leagues one by one. but class one you configure it all :)
