Hello, friends,
is there a way to use the TomTom 6 speedcams for TomTom 7?
I am a legal TomTom 6 customer and have subscribed to the speedcam service. Now I am using TomTom 7 but have no intention to let TomTom know about this, for obvious reasons. I still get the speedcams for all Europe regularly, but TomTom 7 does not recognize them, and editing in POIEdit is not possible. Is there some other software or a trick to convert them?
Thanks a lot in advance to everybody. (It goes without saying that I would be glad to post the files if I can make them work.)
The speedcams are not version specific. All you have to do is follow the tutorial which is from uzin22 and is a sticky on how to make a dct file for each of your speedcams, suggest you use within Western Europe version map and use EasyTools. Once you have created the dct files and have them in the relevant maps, each week, just replace the ov2 and ver files with the new ones.
I have uploaded them on p1, post 1 and can do so until Setember 24 2009, so there is no need to duplicate the post unless I am incognito and cannot post here. I keep the files updated weekly here anyway. By 09:38 UK time they were update here. You, of course should also be getting the updated mobile speedcam updates via GPRS which the others won't get, because that is only for us subscribers.
Enjoy:exactly:

Thank you, maverick, but I am afraid it is not that easy. The TT6 speedcams do not have a ver file with them, and they are of course not listed in any TT7 meta.txt file. They have also other names, because they are broken down for speeds, for example Blitzer_AT_100_TomTom.ov2 for cameras adjusted to 100 km/h. I found this feature very comfortable because you can accomodate the warning distance to the speed to get a desired time lag. And so far I have not found a way to shift this information over to TomTom 7. Maybe somebody else has?

If I use TTHome it downloads the consolidated ones you see on p1 post 1, but, like you, I prefer the speed separated ones, so I get these from my account on the TT download site, but there is no dct file for these.:sorry:

Thanks for your reply.
Do you know which category is associated with tomtom speedcams ?
In my PI category list I notice something called 'rpl' with an icon who looks like a fixed speedcam device ?
Thanks

Tomtom speedcams are not PI. When you start Tomtom, you click and go to the 3rd page and "Tomtom services" (in french) and tomtom speedcams.

Gave up with that NC since I need bluetooth, and FM transmitter working. Have noticed that vocal notifications do not work like they used to before, but i'm using 8.011. I may well go back to 8.010 or one of the others that is fully functional

Just found out, that speedcam menu comes and goes with the btoff switchfile.
So remove it from root, doesn´t save much ram anyway...

Ok, thank you for this fast reply.
Welcome. BTW, the only time you need to repatch the speedcam files is when you have to repatch the maps. That is with a new navcore or for first time use, which you do with a map anyway.

The premium cams are those now made by road angel, i have put them on my 720 and they work great (they will be double the size just due to the fact roadangel have more locations then the tomtom cameras) , new icons look nice aswell. As for the fuel ones i have put them on but i cant seem to get them to do anything :S
When i click on the fuel it just says i can subscribe to them then go's back to the main navigation screen.I tried to do an update through home, but all it gave me was an update on the cameras and the map corrections, said nothing about the fuel.
I read on another forum u have to connect your tomtom a few times to home for it to pick up the fuel but mine has done nothing.
Cheers

Cams have been provided by RoadAngel for quite some time, these are new ones supposed to be HD cam files for x40 and it reports my subscription to expire in sept 2009, since I already have a subscription.
It states the fuel file subscription is not available in my area or my subscription has expired

I have put both the UK Camera Updates onto my Windows Mobile PDA (TomTom Version 7.910) and after TomTom is executed the older one gets deleted - the .dct file remains but the .ver and .ov2 files are gone (Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.XXX). The three newer (Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.XXX) files remain intact.
With the Windows Mobile version you can see the camera locations by going to 'TomTom Services', 'TomTom Safety Cameras', 'Report safety camera' and then selecting either 'Fixed' or 'Mobile' and then browsing the map. I assume some logic somewhere kicks in and it 'knows' the newer one replaces the older one so it gets deleted?

well, i have now put both the uk speedcam types in... (the standard & premium)
my one xl took both fine, i presume the premium one would have extra cams going by the size differences, but not sure...
i will go for a drive over this weekend to test...
well done guys...Putting both Standard & Premium types in I found that the standard is deleted on first use and I can confirm extra cameras shown in my area and larger different icons in the display.

If it has been removed, then please revisit post #1 since I have never actually read any of the instructions, but many have and the Stickies have tutorials to follow.
Thanks, I had already copied the Cams files (.ov2 & .ver) and the Radars directory in the MAPS folder. Just needed to get my map activation redone. Done that and now cams are working. Many thanks..

It deletes the old version type used in the older maps and keeps the HD version for 810.1934 UK & ROI and upwards. Why would you want both versions? The HD version is for the newer maps.

My 910 just did the same, a mistake I bet.
Check the status of your account to see if you have an open subscription. I have going to September 2009 which includes traffic, speedcams for western europe, poland, czech republic and south africa. I am curious to see if australia gets added with the new map.

here are more details,
tomtom is go910
Speedcams i tried are the latest you have posted
maps i use is WC-Europe 810, and DACH 815
Navcore i used before is 8.051, now running 8.300
The speedcams neither show up while card browsing nor in traveling,
if i choose speedcam menue, it says last Speedcam actualisation: no info available.
For activating i used easytools.... worked well up till now, meta is correct for speedcams and for both maps. in the map folder the dct for all speedcams are present
so i don't know what i can do

My suggestion is downgrading back to working 8.051; or do you see any improvement in the latest Navcore which is worth to give speedcams a miss?
It is a tricky one to answer really. I have absolutely no issues with 720 running 8.300, everything is working fine, including speedcams, traffic etc and I like the enhanced IQRoutes and more detailed ALG on roads available, so I would not want to downgrade.
Having said that, life is a compromise as ever, and if speedcams are important, then I would downgrade, just as I have downgraded from 8.203 several times because GPRS offering traffic is important to me.
If by downgrading there are issues with the 815 maps, is this really a big issue? I have noticed that none of the errors reported by me near my home and in the areas of my friends STILL have not been corrected, then that for me would not be so important.
If it was important that speech went through the car speakers rather than just the mp3, then I would downgrade. It really is a matter of what is important and what is bearable which makes us make the choice.
Whichever course of action happens, I will be submitting updates up to September 2009 even if I have to borrow a RS account to up/download files from February.

I am not aware of speedcams from TT for USA. I know PocketGPS have some for USA and Canada, but AFAIK you do not have many in the US compared to Europe and especially UK, yours seem mostly to be Red Light Cams. There are some freely available but quality-wise I cannot comment

the keygen works since I can use the map, also in the menu "tomtom services" the radars can be parametered (number of seconds...) !!

For The Maverick, thanks for the suggestion, have tried both bt on and bt off (via menu screen) with reboot between, still no joy. Other non-tomtom radar databases work fine.
Tomtom radar files can be parametered, which would imply that the (dct, ov2, ver) files are seen by the software - just remain invisible on the screen.

I have been experimenting myself in Bolton UK today and it works fine. Test a route from Deane Road to Beaumont Road. There is a 30 mph gatso shortly after passing Hulton Lane. Now do the reverse route. No speed cam. They are directional. I made a mistake at the weekend because I forgot to remove the PGPS files. So I concur with DyG

Many Thanks, The Maverick. The little fellahs are back with today's updated file !!! :thanks:
Ran a check with your Bolton references, all OK. In my local area it seems some radars (gatsos) are missing. Could I ask if you could do a check on the A2 motorway in France at N50.33805 E3.50644, there is a two-way radar @110km/h that was on previous data bases. If it doesn't show up, then it's the data base and not my setup. Cheers.
PS What does this mean "I made a mistake at the weekend because I forgot to remove the PGPS files. So I concur with DyG "

I kept seeing speedcams both ways, then realised I hadn't removed the PGPS ones in the area. Then I only saw cam on leaving Bolton which is correct. It seems only the premium ones are unidirectional and the older ones are omnidirectional

Some Speedcam´s (TT Org.) are not visible in WCE 8.15.2003 / WCE 8.010 or
CEE 8.15.2003 with Nav 8.203 / 8.204.
The Speecam data ist korrekt but some Cam´s are on the wrong roadside.
The new option to pos. the Speecam´s on the right side (direction) is inkorrekt.
I have different results as i test the Map´s, so i think...
The map´s are not all at the same position.
Snap to road take your car always on the street but not the Speedcam.

Been out and about between France & Belgium today. Although the latest database (18 nov) works with navcore 8.3 on wce 815.2003, it has serious holes in it. Some radars present in previous databases are missing, others are posted on the wrong side of the road and therefore don't flag up, another two-way radar flags up only in one direction...Hope this is a temporary glitch...otherwise it's about as useful as a condom with a piercing...
Please keep up the good work The Maverick, I'm sure things will get sorted. Cheers

You have more faith than me. I was very worried when I found RoadAngel was supplying the data. In the PremUK there are several warnings of non-existent problems. All I can say is I have never been let down by PGPS ones in UK. I have found one on TT that isn't on PGPS that caught out a mate's wife.
AFAIK, only the Prem cams are unidirectional, the others are omnidirectional

Hello,
I'm from Belgium. I installed the latest radars given to us by the Maverick. I have a little problem with it. The new update gives less cameras than the earlier versions. Cameras that are there for years are now dissapeared on my tomtom go. I think 25% of my cameras dissapeared. And yoiu can't say it's one sort of cameras that are missing. How can this be???
I also have another question. I changed from map 810 to map 815. How can I use my favourites from 810 in version 815?

Hello,
The new update gives less cameras than the earlier versions. Cameras that are there for years are now dissapeared on my tomtom go.
I've noticed this in several places with the new 'Premium' UK cams. New and old speed cams that exist in Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2 simple have disappeared in the Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2 files. I have reverted to the non-Premium versions for which I have a subscription because they seem to be more thorough.
The Premium cams are better for potential mobile camera sites, but 95% of the time there will be no mobile camera anyway.
Thanks, as always, to the maverick for updating this thread so often. The whining is directed at TomTom.:good2:

Yes I have. I also noted the file Safety_Cam_AU_TomTomOv2.ver was missing the line subtype=safetycamera which was causing TT HOME to show it as a POI file when I checked the contents of my GO 910.
There are 1 or 2 red light cameras that show up, but the vast majority don't. The latest update also doesn't appear to have the fixed speed cameras here in Brisbane.
The files work when I have map v8.15.2059 loaded.

I've loaded 8.300 and the UK map 815.2003 on my 720t , every thing works very well (I've used the easytool....) apart from the speed cams:???:. I've downloaded the files in post1 and I've used again the easy tool (tt8_ke... and the right meta file) to get the dct-file which I've got(the answer from tt8 was "OK" for all speed cam-Files). The problem I can't find the speed cams in my tomtom. Any ideas please?

You do not have to drive a car to verify if they work OK - just Prepare route and run a route presentation! Of course choose a short one route with a well known Speed camera location :)

Hi i´ve nearly the same problem till weeks, no speed cams but cams for traffic light control since navcore 8.3. with 810 and 815 maps
Has anybody a similar problem? Till nc 8.01x everything was right. There are many threads with similar problems but no solution.
It´s easy to test: create a route and run simulation, with nc 8.010 you are warned at every speed/light... cam, with 8.300 there are most of the trafic light cams and sometimes a speed cam (on a 150km journey 1 or 2 of 10th)
T920 with 8.300 update via TTH and TTUser ttsystem, speedcam update from here.
THXs
Notized that speed cams with a specified speed (round sign with speed in display) aren´t shown, only speed cams with undefined speed (triangle sign with cam symbol) are shown.

I believe this is related to the method of alterting - it depends on your speed of approach. I have changed the warning time from 15secs to 30secs so I get an earlier alert. If you approach below the speed limit you don't get a warning!!!!

I think you may have a valid point. I have tested in demo mode - no problems and then out on the road, no warnings when I expected them, but I rarely go that fast these days, especially in snow. Yes we have snow up north here.

Thank you m8. I have added the earlier map Blowfishes, but not voices or fuel nor have I re-added the older AU speedcams as they are old now and the fuel and premium is only of value to anyone with x40 already subscribing, so is really redundant.
And still no speedcams this week from TT, though thanks also for SCDB files added earlier today + rep given
Not that it's really that relevant but there is no meta for the UK premium cams
There is no such map ('Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2') in keyfile 'Meta.txt'

There has been, check out the attachment a couple of posts back. Not that it will help you much. You are better sticking to the non premium version. You could also try the fuel database blowfish - again, not that it will help you. The last one I have for the fuel is for unleaded, but being a diesel user it is of no use whatsoever.
Something that x40 users possibly do not realise. Being owners, to get the most out of their units is going to cost them approx £10 a month. To me it seems a bit excessive. So they can get google search, weather, traffic and speedcams. Errrrmmmm, don't we get this normally? Alright we may need GPRS, but most phones now have internet services.
What I would really like to know is does IQRoutes work for you, can you rely on traffic and does ALG really help?
The company I work for sells loads of GPS systems, not just TT. At the end of the day, we generally get what we pay for as TT One v3 users find out, but do you get value for your money?
I love my GO720, but really it is the accuracy of the maps that matter, the quickness of finding an alternative if road ahead is blocked.
Is there are real competitor to TT out there? Could TT be bettered? Damn right it could be, but how? I am more than willing to put things to TT in the new year. Bear in mind the credit crunch has made competition tighter.

Sorry, missed that..... Just to get this clear - the UK Premium ones that were posted originally were a 'fluke' weren't they? When I put both the UK versions on my TomTom - PDA 7.910(9185) - the premium ones get deleted when Navigator is lunched ('Safety_Cam_UK_PremiumOv2.ver' & 'Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2'). Previously the non-premium ones were deleted when Navigator was started. I assume it makes no odds putting both sets on (all 6 files) as the 'older' one will get deleted anyway?
Andy
Seems like a fluke. Week one, they deleted normal speedcams, second week, premiums deleted and normal ones came through. I get mobile ones on GPRS as before now and premiums subscription got deleted. Not that I mind. I still use PGPS and SCDB are both better I think anyway

Status: [Only registered and activated users can see links]
Note: I made the file 5MB big, so i get points. I do that beacause I bought a account from scdb.info, and I share those free with you. There is 1 RAR file inside which you can delete. Hope that is OK so for you.
I noticed that in the archive there are 2 folders, one 'german names' & the other 'English names', the ones in the English folder are named in mph upto 130mph, the german in kmh upto 130kmh...
the files in each appear to be the same when compared
shouldn't the English ones read the same, like upto 130kmh & not as mph...?
besides that, I cannot visualise a 130mph speedcam... :hehe:
I like the sound of a ticket for doing 135mph in a 130mph zone :hehe:

Hi,
is there a way to make these tomtom radars files work with a tomtom 6 software ( I have a palm and the latest release for palm is 6.03 ).
1- I have tried to put the ov2 and ver file in the map directory : not seen by the software.
2- I have have tried to generate a dct file for radar along with a version 7 map with the id for the palm : not seen by the software.
It is clear that the application can handle radars from tomtom files ( everything is in the menu of the application ). Can someone tells me how to make it work ? ( with the tomtom files , I know there are some other file with list of radars as poi, but I would like to have the tomtom ones ).

It appears to be the case. My subscription now includes Poland, the Czech Republic, South Africa and Australia from the subscription for Western Europe. Sadly, the UK offering is no where near as good as the PocketGPS one, and you will find the European ones are some way behind the local country ones from other suppliers, however, that being said, I use several different different sets. I rather be warned and choose to ignore, than not be warned and get a ticket.

Guess I'm doing something wrong here: I am using Western_and_Central Europe 8.15.2003 map and now tried to install the latest speed cam files for Germany (Blitzer_DE_TomTom) on this map.
I generated the Blitzer_DE_TomTom.ov2.dct file via RunMeforDCT and put it in my map folder along with the .ov2 and .ver file.
When I now choose "Show POI on Map" on my TomTom One v2, all kinds of POI show up but no speedcams. As soon as I delete the newly generated speedcam .dct file from my map folder, I suddenly find "Blitzer DE TomTom" under all the the other POI (symbol is red square) and the box for displaying them on the map is already ticked... unfortunately they don't seem to show up on the map while driving.
Can somebody give me a hint ?

I am still struggling to get these to work on my TT 530. I have done everything as described, I am able to go into TT Services and add cameras etc however they do not show up when I go to browse or while on the road???
Is it because I am using genuine Navcore(latest 8.3 as far as I remember) and Maps (United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-11)?

They are not points of interest, go on a route demo that you know have speed cams at 200% and see if you get warning. (United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-11)? Don't know that version

Hi,
I think I have to stop using the speedcams brought to us by tomtom. They are not complete. As I said in this thread before , they were accurate until 5 or 6 weeks ago. From that moment speedcams in Belgium are shown 2/3 as what it was 5 or 6 weeks ago. I also send from the beginning the missing speedcams by the menu in tomtom, but during this weeks nothing is changed. It is a pitty. They were so good, but now . . . Someone knows the reason why they don't update the missing Belgium speedcams? Is this the same problem in other countries? I think I have to use this link from now on for Belgian speedcams if it will not change at tomtom: [Only registered and activated users can see links] F88
Also a merry x-mas and a happy new year for all of you.
Greetings from Belgium

Can someone tell me, if you are not using the tomtom speedcams, where you can find the speedicons they are using? Thx.

They are not points of interest, go on a route demo that you know have speed cams at 200% and see if you get warning. (United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-11)? Don't know that version
Hi
The actual map version is 800.1727 which came with my TT 530.
Thanks for a hint about the demo mode, it has in fact shown just one camera in my neighbourhood which was weird and then I discovered that I was using old camera files version (1249) ???? (don't ask me how).
When I repeated the excercise with "easytools" following this guide:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
it mentions something that there is no meta for my map (which I guess is fine because I am not trying to crack the map) and comes up with an OK confirmation foR Safetycam UK.ov2 etc.
When I go to TT Services -> TT Safety Cameras it says:
TomTom Safety Cameras, warns you about safety cameras on your route.
You can join this service and download safety camera locations to your TomTom HOME
Do you reckon it's because of not cracked system and maps?
thanks

From version 8.2 they disable the browse button
So its not problem at all.
to know if your safety camera's does works ( navigate somewhere and use route Demo and watch the warning )
and if you got Tomtom Services >>>> Safety Camera>>>> and you get the menu te report and Add camera that mean your Safety camera Does Works 98 %

Hi TTuser
thanks for your response.
What I meant was that my old camerafiles work (ver 1249) - I am able to go to Tom Tom Services and the speedcams are working, however this version seems to be very out of date as most of the speedcams are not available.
When I updated to the most recent camera files (courtesy of the_maverick), I am not able to access the Tomtom Services menu...

You need to crack them in your map for them to work, so you must have associated dct files for the speedcams supplied. As for accuracy, well, I added a Gatso today that I know has been operational for at least 9 years which is on the PocketGPS database of course. No, I have little or no faith in the TT ones at all (see previous comments).
There are several cameras for road repairs on the M6 North of Carnforth, all on PocketGPS, none on TT database.

Did you mean that I have to have one of the cracked maps to get it to work??
BTW I have created a speedcam.dct file with my map's .meta file but still no joy with this one.The only thing I am not sure if that works as the meta.txt doesn't contain my map's key (also not sure if that makes any difference for speedcam files)??

You need to crack with a map that is in Meta.txt
I only have Blowfish code for Iberia of that version
E8 71 0F ED 44 ED B0 9A 4C 91 3E 37 3E 11 C0 D5 Iberia-11.meta; Iberia_800_1727
You would find that in post #1, but surprised you did not download 810 for free from TomTom under 30 Day Guarantee
You will not need a meta for your existing map though, since it is the one supplied with the unit. Just put a map.meta, map.pna and the speedcam files in insert_meta_from_Map_here with a downloaded map that appears in Meta.txt and RunMeforDCT.cmd option 1 and 1. Copy the speedcam.dct files to the map directory of your unit with the other speedcam files and voila.

They do not show up until you approach them. Unfortunately I have a subscription, so I never see what someone without a subscription might see. Hope someone else can help you out.
Personally, in the UK I have much more faith in PocketGPS speedcams. I only got them from TT as well as I need Traffic.

You can stay inside the house!
Prepare a route along a speedcam.
And drive this route in Demo mode not faster than 200%
and you will see the radars only now and you will get the warning signal.
Have you put the speedcam warning on on your device?
You do this with the icon TomTom Services -> Speedcam locations
Tick on all the boxes, choose the number of seconds and warning sound.

PocketGPS is for mobile ones as well and the subscription is £16.99 and they are certainly accurate for UK. For the remaining 40 countries, they improve every release.
I can recommend wholeheartedly.

Any idea of a tool which can analyze/decode TT own POIs? POIEDIT can now show standard (old type?) POIs files on a googlemap which can be really usefull. I have found a few new TT POIs files (Schools, firestations US or GB) which are really huge (comparing to standard e.g. speedcamers)- probably we could make a library of such TT original files ?

I am not sure I have patched the speedcam files correctly? I copied :
Into the insert_meta_from_Map_here folder which already had a UK map patched. I ran :
RunMeforDCT.cmd
Option 1 (Navcore 8.10.9396) then Run Keygen for insert_meta_from_Map_here
'United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-22.meta' - Ok
'Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2' - OK
Keygen says OK
Then copied the new .dct files into my map folder.
I have checked demos for three locations but haven't seen a camera icon. I can access the TomTom Safety Cameras menu from the Tom Tom Services Menu. My settings :
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Are the settings correct?

Unfortunately, it does not mean that TT Speedcams have those locations logged, it is why I much prefer PocketGPS ones. You can of course add to them via mapshare.
The speedcams are directional and you only see them as you follow a route in demo up to a speed of 200%. Not fully sure what was meant by different songs as it notifies me "TomTom Speedcamera Ahead Gatso 30mph" or something like that or Simon's voice picks up the PocketGPS ones and matter of factly announces Warning Gatso 30mph etc., presumably the songs are for units without ASR

You should have got 1 month's free subscription to speedcams. If you have, you will already have the dct file for it. If you haven't, you will need to create it by patching. Easiest way is via easytools, then you copy to your map file.
Just read the tutorials in stickies - not difficult, but the TTSpeedcams are very limited and you are using a very limited Unit anyway

for french speedcam, you can go here: [Only registered and activated users can see links]
- classified by speed warning and type
- updated every 15 days
You can classify alertegps speedcam using CSV2ASC and POIEDIT.
Finally, on GpsPassion you can find POIMIXER which allows ov2 merge files and remove duplicates POI ... a very good software
all these tools allow to create a free base much better than TT

Hello everyone,
I understand that these SCBD speedcams (thanks again nils16) are POI and should be located with the WE map etc. But for the sake of reducing the clutter in the map folder, is it possible to keep these file in one separate folder and use a pointer to access them.
Also if I want to use these same speedcams for Western Europe and Western & Central Europe should I duplicate all the settings (alert, distance etc.) or is there a ‘configuration file’ of some kind I can just copy from one map to the other.
Finally just for the sake of not dying stupid what is a Speedcams_SCE and Speedcams_120SC.

7th January 2009, 23:06
Hello all there
AFAIK you must copy the files in each Map folder... And do the settings once... When you update just overwrite the files. No new settings must be done...
------------------------------------
I only use the German names. I was never driving in a country who was mph.
I don't know exactly: "In Germany there is like in Village example "50kmh" =30mph.
"When you're in UK you must set like "30kmh" which means 30mph?"
------------------------------------
Maybe can this be solution: Download the German Names use it for kmh regions. "Blitzer_50kmh"
Download mph country's Separately with English names: "Speedcams_30mph"
Then you can make different Warnings...
Hope you understand what I mean, my english is not so good...
And in which country's in Europe is mph???

I looked at all the speedcam locations in Blitzer_60kmh, 70kmh, 80kmh, 90kmh, 100kmh, 110kmh, 120kmh and 130kmh and I can safely say that 60, 70 .... 130 is just a number with no unit (no kmh nor mph) it just indicates that the speed panel you are going to encounter has this number written on it ie for Blitzer_60kmh.ov2, it is in fact 60kmh in continental Europe and 60mph in UK.
The proof being that from 70 to 130 there is not a single UK location in the .ov2 files. I checked...
Therefore nils16 please go back to what you were graciously giving us before ie German_names and English_names for the whole of Europe and do not try to split like you did for your release dated 7-Jan.
Thanks again and keep up the good work :yourock:

I'm using the SCBD speedcam files. Is there a possibility to use those files with the speed icons that you show (the original tomtom speed icons)

There are many things you can do with icons. You can use any icons you like. All you need to do is have them called the same as the ov2 file but with a bmp extension. Also, you can use sound files if they have the same name as the ov2 file but with ogg extension.
This is what I have done with the PocketGPS speed cam files. If you have a suitable model of TT, you can have the TT speedcams announced as a voice too, rather than just a sound, but you need to be able to use computer voices for this.

I've tried to make some icons by myself, I also treied to modify some existing icons but when I paste them in my map and I drive around with my 720, I only see a red square that is allerting me. Is there a limitation of pixels? Is there no way how to extrude them out of the tomtom ver file? The tomtom icons are also bigger than the other icons.

you have chosen to use some of wrong size, they come as 22x22 or 24x24...
many models can use the double size ones too, 44x44 or 48x48...
picking a size it doesnt like results in the red square being displayed instead

As you know, I am not a fan of the TT speedcams personally and I much prefer the PocketGPS ones.
:yourock:Thankyou soo much Meverick, I am also only the fan of "Speedcams", I have downloaded the new ones today & will try them tomorrow.
My query is regarding "OGG" sound files as they are not included in the package, they were a bit of relief of at-least TomTom was using some proper sounds rather than just beep-beep :forsaken:, any chance of getting the OVG files in future PLEASE?

Anybody have the latest traffic, red light and speed cameras for Australia? The reason I ask is I need to get hold of the latest with all the warning sounds included as well.
Somone did send me one that was split into 15 different camera types but they were missing there associated ogg warning sound files. And all the different files also was very confusing what each ones was used for.
Also after an up to date school zone POI with warning sound file as well.
Much appreciated if someone could help us out.

Germin Australia Cameras for TomTom.
That one is outdated only 845 cameras,
Compared to this one from Garmin (29/12/2008) that has 1509 cameras.

The TomTom ones do not use ogg files anymore as they are not poi files anymore and it depends on your setup as to how they sound. x20,x30 and x40 can use computer voice, otherwise you need to use sounds instead

Here are the latest TT Fixed camera updates for you. I have included Meta.txt with all the latest maps and speedcams with versions.
Also added SCDB, courtesy of nils16. Please note that these cover UK and Europe. Although the filenames have titles in mph, they actually contain both mph and kph. e.g. Speedcams_50mph are speedcams for 50mph and 50 kph and only show up as 50 on the map
the maverick, since you included nils16 SCDB speedcams on the 1st page, can I suggest you attach a date eg SCDB_090107 as these are not ‘refreshed’ at the same rate with TT speedcams.
It’s also a good idea for the sake of clarity to do this also for TT releases eg Radars_090115. This way everyone can see where he stands with respect to the updates.
Best regards

Have you tried copy file1+file2+file3 file I do not know if it will work, but it would be my first thought. If it does, how the dickens are you going to get appropriately warned? I wouldn't fancy the same warning for 30mph as for 70mph

The problem is that you have not read the thread. The TT Speedcams are not treated as POI. They are treated differently.

I activated my legal subscription to Safety Camera Updates for Australia today. These are the files that were downloaded onto my GO930T by TTHOME:

PS: The files are on my TT, but I do not see any safety camera pictures on my map, nor do I see any safety camera options under my POIs. Does TT automatically warn you, or is my device missing something?

However, I cannot see cameras in POI, nor are they visible when browsing the map, or even during navigation when going past a camera (as mentioned by a previous poster). How to I "enable" them so that I can see them?

I do not know where they are stored, presumably in the ov2 file. Regarding the PocketGPS icons, there are a lot more available on the site than just the "bog standard" ones, as there are several different voices available too.

To be honest I do not know how long Premium Cams will be provided. They are not from me directly. I only have normal Europe Speedcams. AU and SA subscriptions seem to have been deleted. Anyway you have a benefactor with UK premium ones. I use Pocket GPS ones myself and it is only because I got speedcams with traffic that you get this service from me. I do not have any faith in the TT speedcam files myself. But it is up to you. Use all of the ones available and not get caught.
Just realised that I see who downloads the files, and those that give nothing back to the forum. Remember there is nothing like a free lunch, and no rep points, and suddenly things grind to a halt. Remember, that in order to provide this service, others help me. They like rep points too, and if I do not get them, I cannot pass them on.

If you had read the thread first, it would have taken you a few minutes, obviously you hadn't. You still think Speedcams are POIs despite numerous times seeing that they aren't. They only appear when you approach them if they are ahead of you on the same side of the road ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) from nc8.300. So maybe the Mrs should kill her stupid hubby for wasting so much time

With the .ov2, .ver & 'cracked' .dct files for the TomTom speedcamers in the map folder they won't appear as 'normal' POI's. They must be accessed via the TomTom Services button. With older PNA Navcores and all the Windows Mobile 7.x ones you can view them by going to Safety Cameras in the TomTom Services menu and then selecting 'Report saftely camera' and then select either the fixed or mobile buttons. If you then zoom out with the slider bar you should see the all the cameras.
In the newer Navcores this functionality has been removed and if you perform the same procedure you won't see any cameras.
This has been discussed before and should be found easily via the search function.....

The ov2 file is essential, the ver file just tells you the current version you are using.
Which speedcam files you use, depends on the map you are using, not your spoken language e.g. DE_AT_CH, you would use the German, Italian and Austrian. If you use Western Europe, you use all except, CZ, PL and if you use Western and Central Europe, you use all of them.
If you use UK 815_2003, just use Premium UK.
Hope that makes things clear.:Love::dance::good2:
If you want to use a better database, which will alert you of mobiles on bridges etc, I can recommend PocketGPS which can be free if you spot a speedcam and it is verified as a new site, otherwise it is a small fee
It is worth reading the whole page too

Have had similar problems with my 910 with not receiving alerts for all speed cams which I raised a while back (see this post ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and the others shortly after it). Received no satisfactory answer.
On 8.300 there is no choice for a human voice on the speed cameras. Not sure whether there is an option on the other navcores. One possible way could be try and convert the speed camera files to a normal poi file and then setup a proximity warning. You can use a spoken warning for pois. Not sure what you would need to do to convert them though.

For Australia there is a solution from another site:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
These are in standard POI format. The Safety Camera POI contains many cameras which have not been picked up by TT. If you get a POI editor you can put in cameras that you see that are not in the the above POI or TT your self.

Depends on which map you use and the navcore too. If nc 8.200 or newer, it only shows cams if they are on the same side of the road as you and if its been reported and recorded. You could use the Premium version speedcams btw if you use meta-19 map 815.2003 instead of the basic one, but delete the basic speedcam file first

Sorry, but you will struggle at the very least, even Pocket GPS Speedcams apparently do not support Sygic, though I would have thought you would have stood a much better chance. Especially, since they come in a lot of different formats including CSV, TXT, OV2, GPX, ASC, MEF/TTR, MCA, GPSR, MGLN, MLP, MTC, whereas the TomTom ones only support their own ov2 (adaption)

I use PocketGPS and SCDB. I've not found the TT ones to be much use at all. Either no warning where there are speedcams or lots of warnings where I know there aren't any. I only use them if I am in unfamiliar parts and that way, I am covered by three different sets - just in case.

i now see why you are an adamant supporter of the pocketworld speed cameras against the tom tom ones.
i have a go520 updated latest maps 815.2003 and navcore 8301.
iput a prepared route in from bawtry city centre to gainsborough city centre
then tried the UK speed cams and the UK premium speed cams from tomtom (posted beginning of this thread)
it did not report any
tried the pocketworld single file speed cameras and it showed quite a few.
Therefore got to agree the pocketworld ones are best and more upto date and reliable.
ps those speed cams have been on that stretch of roads quite a few years as i can testify by going to skegness for a few years that way
Thanks

Yes, there is no point in putting the other files in. If it is 815.2003, you may use the premium UK ones. The files are country specific.

I use 815.2003 WCE and all the speedcams working perfectly except the UK Premium ones. I put speedcam files to tomtom, then after restart UK Premium speedcam files are missing from tomtom WCE map folder. For some reason these are automatically deleted. What could be the reason?

If you also have the standard UK ones in the folder, the premium ones get deleted as you cannot have both. If you did not have the UK standard ones in as well, then, it may signify that they only work with the UK & ROI map v2003 as this is the one for the x40 series, so will never appear in lesser maps.

Thanks Maverick for the response. You are right, Premium one is not working with WCE map. I deleted standard ones and still no results. So i stay to standard ones. Thanks for explanation and good advice :good2:

I have a problem while using the UK speed cams. When i copy Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom, Safety_Cam_UK_Premium to my ttgo500 and when the tomtom boots up and when i connect to the tthome and see conents of my device. In speed cam its showing Safety_Cam_UK and not Safety_Cam_UK_Premium . previously it used to show Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.
Any idea.

As has been mentioned in this thread multiple times, you can only have one set of TomTom's UK speed cams on the device. Either UK Premium or standard UK.
The unit will delete the Premium cams if there is another set present.

Why not have a "play" with each and see which YOU prefer ??? The uploader has given you, for free, a great deal of data, however "best" is a subjective term .. his idea may be different from yours .. and mine might be different again ...
Maverick has done all the work for you so far .. why not do a little yourself ??
You could always then post, for everyone to see, what differences between the 2 versions there are ??

Premium are supposed to be the best (as the name suggest..).. in practice without the constant online update on the device (via gprs/umts) the benefit of Premuim is minimal.
If you really want the best use PocketGPS ones ;)

Yes, it was one of those things - TomTom must have cottoned on to the fact that I got a free subscription to AU and ZA and have deleted it. So the only way of getting updates is for some kind bod to upload them, like a kind person does for the premium UK ones. Hint, hint:thanks:

Does TomTom do speedcams for NewZealand? If you have them for your device from your free first month, you can create a blowfish code yourself or PM me with your new zealand files, serial number and will do for everyone's benefit.
From the incremental number of the versions, I did not think such a beastie existed.

Dites-vous que vous recevez des avertissements des appareils de photo de l'autre côté de la route, mais pas sur le côté sur lequel vous voyagez ?
Are you saying that you are getting warnings from cameras on the other side of the road, but not on the side on which you are travelling?

Usually genuine files are given a date ahead of current for some reason. I usually change the date to todaydate, but didn't for these. Just trying now, it did not redate the files to todate/time as often it does

Just a quick question/opinion.
My subscription for TOMTOM speed cams has just run out. I know a lot of people say Pocket GPS are the best but I have had horrendous times with it in the past and with there being some really bad mistakes ( as late as 5 months ago). However I managed to get a copy of the January one and it seems to match the TOMTOM ones exactly around my area (including one misteke where the camera is around 20 yards out).
So my question is this. Would I be better just biting the bullet and subscribing to Pocket GPS one. I like the TOMTOM one and it has never let me down but I can find them more readily than the PGPS ones to download. Both sets have things I like. The Pocket GPS has a more comprehensive Mobile, Specs database but TOMTOM has Blackspots and also a few of the Mobiles around here that PGPS doesnt (I will report them if I subscribe).
I dont mind running both sets to be extra safe so whats the general opinions.
Thanks for any replies.

Sco0ter, that really means a lot. Thank you. Tonight I have uploaded the latest South Africa speedcams. Only affected files are Meta.txt with version number and Radars.rar. Only extract the ZA ones, rest unaffected.
From today, my rapidshare is expired, it is no more, so only uploads will be here in post one. Fellow posters on other sites have been given permission to place on forums. Please do not post to torrent sites. I do not want TT upping their security on their speedcams when they are so easily available here. Some things they allow and other things they do not like us doing, so please be cool, and not place on torrent sites. As a Senior colonel on bitcomet, I get to see quite a bit (not a threat) but really remember, you are getting them for free, crap though they are.

For those that do not know - Premium is better than Standard, but I really think only one person did not know that. At least I hope educational standards have not dropped to truancy levels. He knows who he is.
The difference between a truant and a fisherman is
A fisherman baits his hooks - a truant hates his books.
If the illiterate could not read that, someone please read it aloud to him.....
Considering this is an international forum, next time a person who is English does not understand the meaning of a common word, please use in google define: premium
We are not here to teach the rudiments of vocabulary to anyone. OMG this is someone who may have been let loose in a car:stupid:

More than welcome m8. Premium only works on UK and ROI map if you do not have standard ones installed, and afaik, only on v2157 ones, otherwise you just use standard ones.
PocketGPS ones are better, and their subscription has gone back to £19 and I bet the next update will only occur after CeBIT

Latest Speedcams updated in post #1 12/3/09. Affected files Meta.rar (fuel blowfish has returned thanks to your anonymous benefactor) and Radars.rar. ZA seems like it has been reinstated either from something I have done (Shhhh) or good fortune (I am not usually blessed with this)
To the poster above. And....? There are other forums besides this one. I happen to be a member also where you found that, but also on other language speaking ones. One of the things a forum benefits from is shared info. I know others on this one also on other fora.
To be on this forum is great, as I think yDG is doing a superlative job - certainly got the right idea, just marred by some members, but other fora may cater more prominently for different things. To be a member of one forum is a good idea, but to be prominent of others too, helps speed up the information flows.
Remember some of our advances were down to Russians on a different forum and word spreads rapidly. Also, please be aware that many of us write in several languages. I was conversing via email today in Slovak, Czech, Russian, Mandarin and only as I was signing off at work an email came in from Argentina, but it will get answered tomorrow.
I certainly do not think there are rules about being members in different fora, newgroups etc. This is the information superhighway.
This is an English speaking one and we have members that use translation software, but a lot of us get PMs in other languages.

premium speed cam files for UK uploaded
Read post post #1 and give feedback, or idea will be closed. How can I give anonymous user rep points if you do not pass on. Just remember I use PocketGPS and TT speed cams, but our benefactors want an incentive.
Remember we supply you free. Cost is our time. And of course our inclination to help with silly problems
On other forums, thanks is given as a matter of course, perhaps, some of of us will go to oblivion where help is appreciated. Then you will need to look yourselves for help.
Good night all. Have a wonderful time leeching and giving nothing back. That is not aimed at those that know me and my friends, but to those that don't.
the maverick
13th March 2009, 00:10
So we will see if you miss our contributions. Next time, leechers will have to get from elsewhere. Regulars will already know where to have the fastest uploads.
And is a thank you so difficult? Now I am not helping the noobs further. They are on their own. I have help from people I hardly know on other sites, but here no one with a few exceptions are grateful. Well. Learn another language and be civil and share information. Be grateful to those that help you. Don't just take.
Two weeks without updates. Lets hope your manners improve
Good night

I am a NOOB and am very appreciative of the help I have found on this forum, and am slightly overwhelmed by the knowledge shown by its users. I am very grateful for the fact that there are users that are willing to supply subscription based info to others FOC. A thank you costs nothing but the time taken to supply the knowledge, info and files certainly does not. I am a regular visitor to the forum but feel that my lack of knowledge hinders my participation but hope to learn small bits at a time to aid my understanding. A big thank you to Maverick et al oncemore, I salute you
