The following method is old & complicated. A much easier method is now available in the Hacking & Signing Simplified (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=250439) thread.

All credits go to FCA00000, leftup & others involved for making this possible...you guys rocks :good2:

Do not update your Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Software Updater to latest versions. Please make sure you have Nokia PC Suite v6.85 or below.
If you have already upgraded then you need to uninstall both the products and re-install old Nokia PC Suite again. You can upgrade to the new versions once you have completed the following procedure and hacked your phone.

Step 1:. One time procedure
First you need to apply FCA00000's hack as described in the following thread

Step 2.
Now you should have access to C:\sys\bin. Simply follow the instructions and the install the utilities available at http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=240408

If you have followed Step 1 & 2 successfully you should now be able toggle access to all the private folders. To test this restart your phone and open X-plore. You won't have access to C:\sys folder. Exit X-plore and run the CapsOff utility. Again start X-Plore and now you should be able to browse C:\sys & other private folders. To turn off access you can either run CapsOn or simply restart your phone.

Step 3. This is the final step to setup your phone to accept your signed apps
If you had installed SignSIS by Leftup (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=211049) earlier then extract the contents of keycert.rar to c:\private\EC696702 overwriting the previous files. (If you installed SignSis to memory card then replace C: with E:)

Create the following folder & subfolders:
c:\resource\swicertstore\dat\

Extract and copy the 00000001 file to the above folder. Once you have copied the file, enable the read-only attribute for it. (In X-plore press 6 to do it)

:) All Done :)

Now you can sign any of the unsigned apps and install them.

To sign using SignSIS:
- Open SignSIS and select unsigned sis file.
- Select Options -> Selfsign

To sign using any of the PC based signing apps, just extract and use the key & cert from keycert.rar
In case you ever face a "Certificate Error" when installing a SIS file signed using the above method, just repeat Step 3.
I have personally tried it on my N73 and its working. So now you can say bye bye to Symbiansigned :D

Mate have you followed all the three steps without any errors. Have you copied 000001 file to the right directory?

There was a typo error in keycert.rar so make sure you download it again if you are going to uses it for SignSIS

This file needs to be copied everytime you restart your phone.

I did not have to copy the file again after phone reboot and I was able to install every app signed with the provided key and cert so I think that it's not mandatory to copy it everytime. Besides the file is still there after reboot and it's not changed so there is no need. Or maybe my phone is different, E51 ;)

My BAD, the signsis app rememberd my old cer and key so I was signing with those and not the new ones. Shoooot. Sorry again :confused:

This is the last bit of bypassing s60v3 security we needed!
Now we can access all files/folders and install all apps just like the good old s60v1/2 days!
Now when I get my E51 no camera version i'll be able to install all those unsigned apps I have that I thought I wouldn't b able to use cause of stupid changed Symbian Signed.

Mate could you please PM me the verysoft app thats bugging you. I will personally try it at my end...just in case I might figure out the problem. This method is not app specific and should work for all. :)

Mate something is wrong somewhere for sure. Because you should have gotten full write access to the private folders too following that tutorial which is not the case. You have to copy it to C: only not E:

Mate, with all respect, ... BUT ... if you dont know how to identify COM port on your PC than you dont need at all this method and hacked system folders on your phone. What you can doo and for what purpose than you need open folders when you dont know simple thing like - where is the info about Com port's on the PC?!?
This hacked folders is for advanced users who need total control on their phones, processes, applications, settings, ... not just for fun!

Mate it shouldn't be a problem. Because these changes are temporary & done in the RAM. So once you restart your phone you have a normal phone until you run CapsOff again.

Make sure that you don't have Nokia PC suite running. Also your phone should be connected in PC Suite mode. Were you able to figure out the USB port from device manager?

Yes, i disconnected the Nokia PC Suite and i was able to figure out my USB part (COM16) and switched also in the "perms" file to 15.

I'm going to try in another (my desktop) pc since i think its strange to have a 16st port (laptop) :-).

Yeah I tried this read-only trick earlier today. It did work on my N73 & N95 but failed on my friend's N95 8GB. So am waiting for further confirmation if this is consistent.

ok guys just read thru this thread so here is a lil info to answer a few people's questions :

1.Tested successfully on N82, N95, N95 8gb, N73, N80, N81. We're still having some issues with N75, but we only have one tester so it might take a while.

2.If you're getting a cert error msg after doing all the steps 'CORRECTLY' please turn Caps oFF and try again.

3.Recopying the 00000001 file seems to be required for newer firmware versions, cos the OS 'modifies' the file a lil upon startup. For now we suggest trying it after rebooting, and if you can still sign normally, then you can skip this step, however if you can't ( Mostly newer firmware users ) you'll probably want to keep a copy of the original 00000001 file in your memory card handy for copying when you wanna sign a new sis.

4.FCA has not gone to work for Nokia , it was just an April Fool's prank. We're all still working hard to support him at SF as we advance the hack further.

Ok thats all for now, I'm heading back to SF to help out, but stay tuned, we're trying our best to get 'WRITE" access on the z:drive so we can start changing default scripts on our phones. Keep spreading the Word!!!

Mate try setting the readonly attribute on 0000001 file after copying it again. Then restart your mobile again and check if it works for you.

Well i really love the work you guys have done.I have had long nightmares since i bought n82 a week ago after selling my beloved N95 8GB.I had a cer for it.But symbiansigned stole all our freedom of basic users who want to have fun with symbian.

You can't do this from the PC mate. You need to use a file browser on the phone itself. I use X-Plore (Shortcut key 6 to change attributes)

Mate did you get through finally or not? Whats your phone model? Restarting means you mixed up the pre-FP1 / FP1 files. Just make sure you copy the right files 8-)

open x-plore goto menu--tools--configuration and tick on "show system file/folders". You will be able too see the sys folder now.

i think dat u have installed the wrong capsoff into ur phone. because there is the prefp1 and fp1. u should try the other one instead. dat should help. :dance: sorry i meant to reply Wyco i just started posting so im not really sure how to reply.

And I copied all the content...

It was an Adobe 2.5 crk file, but I tried some others (similar type) and got the same result.

I'll retry and get back asap

I was reading all the tuturials and i feel them very extensive anyway i must take my hat to this hack.
I´ll keep signing with the old method as it is easier for me, you keep on the great work brothers, hacks are always fun ;)

I discovered one thing.
Once you have applied the procedure indicated by my friend swanky in the first post and managed to certify any application ... Ok... discharged activefile 1.27.19 manufacturer capabilities.
Signed activefile manufacturer capabilities v1.27.19 with the system indicated in the first post.
Install active file manufacturer capabilities v1.27.19 self signed.
Open Activefile .
Well, you see that makes you enter folders "sys" and "private" both C and E.
You can open "sys" and "private" Without using cap off and cap on.
In other words cap off and cap on are no longer needed. Just activefile v1.27.19 manufacturer capabilities to open always, at any moment, Sys folders and private folders.

I was having this problem with Xplore, but it was fine with modo. Maybe you should try it out.

If c:/ is still read only tat means u havent cracked ur phone well.
Pls redo fm beginning n make sure u follow all the guides correctly.

Didn't your run the python script from console? The windows would have stayed open & you could have seen the output. I am still waiting to come across another case of hack not working on this firmware. Will take some time though since the new firmware is still not available in most of the regions yet.

There is absolutely no harm done when following this procedure. Its the safest. But once you have hacked your phone...everything is in your own hands. You need to be careful not to delete any of the system files once you get access to them after the hack ;)

Just got of on a private helpdesk session with swankyleo....

After self signing my applications, I have some problems running the apps.
I tried it on a couple of apps from webgate and could not make em work...
The first one was, webgate advance device locks...Now there was no problem installing the app which means the hack works.. but after installation, I am unable to change the default password. Everytime I try to do that, it gives me an error saying "Unable to open file due to security reasons"Same error executed when I installed and ran Webgate voice inbox but this time I was trying to record a greeting....
Any idea what it might be and how to overcome this situation??
Now on the other hand, I think this is only happening to apps which has a crack file with it, meaning the apps in which we have to sign in the crack too are the ones giving trouble.... This is just my theory! what do you think?

Hey people, I finally got rid of this problem... Actually what I did was....
I turned the caps off to turn the hack on.. then I signed the app and its crack and before I installed it, I turn the caps on to turn the hack off...
Installed it and its working perfectly fine, both webgate advance lock and voice mail[:)]:dance::dance::dance:

hi guys... I'm having lil problem in getting this hack together. I've a Nokia N80. Yes i know, the hack officially took it's origination in the N80... Hehe. But anyway heres my prob. I installed all the necessary apps and in the phone installed hello carbide, but installed trk in the memory card... It kept on giving me error of basic address does not look correct, than i uninstalled trk thru the app manager and instaled it again on phone memory, this time got no error, but did.nt get that candidate thing either, .. I opened xplore in the hope that it might work, but it did.nt. So.. What shall i do. I've done it several times but same log, and no hack. Could it be cuz i installed it first in my memory card, .. And some files are still in memory interfering? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mate just make sure that you are using the latest version of Nokia PC Suite for N82. I had read somewhere that for N82 it just show Nokia N82 USB in device manager. So if it does, try right clicking it and go to properties.
In property sheet goto Port Settings tab and click on Advanced button. You should see the COM Port number there. I am assuming that you are running XP. Let me know if this helps...

Rafi my suggestion is leave it for a while, relax & then start afresh with a cool head ;) This time make sure you follow the exact procedure for pre-FP1, remember that everything needs to be installed to the phone memory ( C: )

Also I would advice you to remove TRK & install it again just to be sure you are installing the right one. Let me know how it goes :D

No its not a stupid question at all mate :D Flash wallpaper is firmware dependant...so adding this feature to a non-supported phone it is not possible as of now!

Hi everybody...My first use of hack...long ago i was instaled some themes and before crack i couldnt uninstal them...So i search and here is result. I found that the themes folder in phone is c/private/10207254 and on a memory card it was e/private/10207114. Inside of them you have a few folders. Each folder is one complete theme. Now use your X-plore find that folders and with hex editor you can read which theme it is...When You find unwanted theme simply delete that folder and theme is gone and your free space rise up...Thats it... It is not much bu maybe somebody find this helpfull...:forsaken:

Are you sure you copied the LDD file in Step 2 to c:\sys\bin. Please check...now that you don't have access you will have to perform the whole procedure upto Step 2 again.

You need to install HelloCarbide in you phone to C:\ Directory and then copy HelloCarbide.exe to C:\ in your phone also.and you can run it..I hope you can try the best...Good job mate:dance:

Just updated my n82 firmware from v11 to v20.0.0.62 and hurray the hack still works although i have a cerificate from opda for 3 years but browsing all dirs is what an open device is about.

PS:The hack still works after update and the caps on and caps off still working.All previous installed applications working fine no errors hope all of them work too.seen no errors.

If you had installed SignSIS by Leftup earlier then extract the contents of keycert.rar to c:\private\EC696702 overwriting the previous files. (If you installed SignSis to memory card then replace C: with E:)

Extract and copy the 00000001 file to the above folder. Once you have copied the file, enable the read-only attribute for it. (In X-plore press 6 to do it)

I have done this bit also correct i copied every thing as it says.

Now you can sign any of the unsigned apps and install them.

To sign using SignSIS:
- Open SignSIS and select unsigned sis file.
- Select Options -> Selfsign

To sign using any of the PC based signing apps, just extract and use the key & cert from keycert.rar

I do have previous version of voice recorder installed , after my post before i confirm that this hack worked for other unsigned apps but not for voice recorder maybe i need to uninstall older version first.

I follow the "dummies" ;) guide and it was easy...step two and three are a lot easier... I did have some issues with the unsigned Route66 app that I install. It worked fine but my map was mess up (actually it may be messed up from the beginning)...This is a great hack nonetheless...

Thats cause you've not started App Trk :)

Start the app App Trk, make sure it is connected via USB instead of Bluetooth, and the .py script will then continue to run ;)

When you run the app, how do you select the Key and Cert files? As you can't go to the folder c:\private\EC696702 in order to select them???

And yes, my phone has got the hack installed, and Caps On and Caps Off both work to enable me to see all files after restarting my phone.

You need to find out the port from your PC using device manager...once you do that you are all good to go :D

Yes, I found it (Nokia N73 USB COM17) and I set in hack_perms_s60v3.py ser = serial.Serial(16) . I think I am doing this correctly but without success.

I have the same problem as Jäger. I did everything that is required. (although helloworld isn t nessesary to instal when you use the py script. Hello is required when you trace the data flow and we dont do this because we use the auto script)

My script stops at ping and when i lunch it by python25, program stops and i have to close it by manager :/

kbal i don't think nlite is the problem. Nlite just allows you to slipstream the installation of applications into the installation of your operating system. The problem arrises when people remove components of XP which they think are "unnecessary". Maybe your copy of XP with Nlite/slipstreams has some core components removed.

Try installing a FULL version of XP

Which version of X-plore are you using now; the normal one or the allfiles?
You need to copy 0000001 file and not 0000001.rar.

There is no relation between the 0000001 file and the actual hack. Make sure you have followed each step carefully and copied the right files (for you FP1).

Is CapsOff working for you? do you get access to private folders after running it?

and the caps on and off are also working fine

i also have full acess to all system and private folders .which i use frequently to change oplogo.

xplore 1.21 works fine but once i tried to upgrade to 1.22 allfiles it suddenly gave a security error! and then every thing on the memory card got RAW .Could access the card but all applications wiped.

it has happened twice now the second time once i was using xplore to search a file in c: through find and again same thing happened

thanks God i made a backup of the card and restored it.Every thing working fine now.

So you mean that you were not able to update X-plore(allfiles) and are using the normal one now. I haven't come across such a weird problem thus far. Have you tried installing the normal X-plore again, if not give it a try.

No I wouldn't recommend to have the hack enabled all time. Thats why I never installed any file manager with allfiles caps. Whenever I need to access system folders, I just run CapsOff(assigned to a shortkey for quick access) and when done I disable it (CapsOn).

000001 can and should be left readonly forever. It's just a root cert. file and will cause no problems. Whenevr you want to install some unsigned app, just sign it with those key & cert and install. CapsOff is not needed for this. ;)
