bro u have to uninstall all nokia apps on your pc (including pc suite )
restart ur pc and reinstall NSS, then after u have changed ur product code, reinstall NSU.

The problem is that the new drivers that the newest version of NSU installs are not compatible with NSS

how you play the youtube on the browser.....I got mine up to date with newest firmware, but when i play the youtube movie, the real player load and stuck.....how can you play it on the browser?

1. Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links] you will be redirected to m.yautube.com (mobile). because of that, if you try to see video, it will be 3gp/mp4, NOT flv. That's why you see Realplayer opening them;
2. Go on bottom of page and select link "view desktop version"; now you are going to real/nornmal youtube site, and from here you acnn see all movies in browser

i used NSS to change to product code of my N82 from 0552252(africa) to 0551539 (hongkong) and then i use NSU to update the new firmware. The update goes well but i didn't found the english-chinese dictionary included in the hongkong firmware.

that's because the dictionary is not included in the firmware. i got mine the same thing too. but I used MSDict Chinese-English dictionary from this forum.

. i just checked. i will do it now . lemme charge ma phone .

this morning i experienced a major bug in the new software...after uninstalling of 2 themes, which were not in use, of course, the phone just froze...so i had to restart...when i restarted my n82 said: "unable to start. contact your retailer" (or something like that)
i switched it off, removed the battery and the sim, the battery back in...this time my phone started (but after 5 mins of booting!), and restored to the factory settings (with *#7370#)...now all my stuff is gone (except those on the memory card), but at least the phone runs stable again...hopefully i won't need to go to nokia care center...oh, and something else - the accelerometer has now become too sensitive and my screen rotates much more easily, that is annoying a bit too...so i wait for the next version of the software...within i have to install tons of stuff, which was deleted after the restoring :(

ha, if u think that's weird, i know a guy who after updating firmware, when he pressed 'right' on the dpad, the selection went left, and vice versa , thankfully all was restored after reinstallation, heh. I think that Nokia just had some problems with the initial update files that were uploaded on their NSU server

after i upgraded it seems the coding of the phone isnt correct. In some menus you can see the code instead of the text eg when i press menu and then options it reads
&qtn_menu_open;
&qtn_menu_animated;
... etc

instead of just simply
Open
Animated
...etc

not a major problem but it is still annoying. Anyone know how to resolve this? ive already tried to reinstall the firmware but still the same issue.

Weird... not happen to me... Try to reinstall the firmware but before delete what is already downloaded on your PC (~110 M), to force NSU to re-download the firmware.

ok i got it working now. I swiched the view to list instead of grid, when i changed it back it was working perfect. Hope this helps anyone else with the problem

(The item on your lowest right corner must be a folder and NOT an application, just move one of your folder there to test it. Also, if you just navigate to that folder with the directional key, the weird effect doesn't show up). Once in that folder, try to move left, right, up, or down, you'll notice that it is skipping every other icon. You can still run the application by pressing the corresponding key but navigating to certain icon is impossible.

I honestly wonder if it's just mine n82 being messed up or if this is the same in all n82. Give it a try. I will try to post a video of it (any good or available video screen capture). Otherwise I will have to use my n73 to capture it. ;0

got mine hacked then upgrade firmware. but i didn't have the problem you mention. when click on menu button then push # key, it open my Application folder (on the lowest right corner) but I don't experience skipping every other icon when navigating on that folder. it work as normal.

well,4633, i don't experience the same problems and i wouldn't post a reply at all, beacause i am not running the mentioned hack of the phone (i still find it a bit risky)...BUT...
from your videos i noticed that in the menu, the special menu icon appears above all menu items...well i don't have this icon, in my fone there is only the "Menu" word to be seen...but when my fone was running v10 (which my fone came with 2 months ago), this icon used to show sometimes, usually after a long work with many apps, installing new ones, etc., but without restarting the fone for more than 12 hours...and when this icon appeared, i observed that some stange issues were happening, such as uncontrolled switching of bluetooth on and aff; the profiles were changing sometimes just automatically, and i don't have such a program on the fone (for example programs like Handy profiles); and some other annoying little issues which were gone after a restart...but i haven't experienced your problem (maybe) just because i don't use key combinations in the menu...
since v11 that hasn't happened to me...and i have never seen the Menu icon since :)...so if this icon can be a problem, maybe u should try a restart of your fone...but i still want to ask, if this icon appears in other N82-s without any problems...i mean, whether there is a N82 out there, running the newest v20 and this menu icon at the same time...or this is depending on the theme in use, even though i haven't observed such dependence...or maybe the differences between fones with different product codes, for different markets could be the reaseon...??? please reply

i have not yet upgrade to v20.xxx but i have read many diferrent opinions!I have found that there is a bug while trying to use NSU (Nokia Software Updater) in Vista both x64,x86.It may have been already said but i have not read the other pages.There is a trick in order NSU to work fine in Vista.If not told in another page please tell me to post it!

Comparing the previous V11 to V20 there's much improvement and faster. But what i dont like is so call improvement on the accelerometer angle,its driving me nuts....too sensitive. Anyone feel the same?

Does anyone have the problem after installing the firmware the shortcut to the web browser (pressing and holding 0) doesn't work? I tried reinstalling the firmware as well as changing the product code to EURO-1 and reinstalling the firmware (I'm in NA) but to no avail.

Any help would be great. I'd love it if my hash key also switched the phone to silent but that doesn't work either.

Changed my product code with NSS and updated, all works fine.But watching flash video on the phone is a pain. Takes forever to buffer and when I get to the video, it's doesnt play smoothly. Anyone experience the same prob?

@chronomni, the 0 button doesn't work for me either, but the # key still work to switch to Silent Mode for me. I use Hong Kong product code and already hacked my phone before the upgrade.

But since the v 11 until this latest firmware, i still cannot updating my firmware, the problem is the same, my nsu is cannot do anything, it is always on "starting aplication" all day long..

the only way to add language is to change the product code to your preferred language pack then re-install the firmware.

if the firmware from rapidshare has extension .exe, it probably you must use Phoenix to flash your N82. It's a bit risky to flash with Phoenix cause it could brick (dead) your phone. better find solution on fixing NSS to read your phone.

or the safest thing is bring your phone to Nokia service center and let them upgrade it for you with French language.

There are some reasons I've experienced with NSS not reading your phone:

- for the latest phones get the latest NSS as earlier versions cannot necessarily read newer phones

- if it didn't help, uninstall all nokia softwares, like PC Suite or older Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver, than install NSS and install the cable driver for your phone and of course you need to install the Nokia Software Updater.

- and for last, check your cable for any damage
