I'm using the HK firmware V21.. Works perfectly fine on my phone.

Garmin uses its own set of fonts - and is independent of the phone itself. (My dad is using an Australian 6110 Navigator with no chinese support, but Garmin shows up all Chinese maps properly).

You may want to try and install Taiwan version of Garmin to get the East Asian fonts on there (search it up on this forum). Or maybe just copy the fonts in there from the \Garmin\Fonts folder.

Should also add that I got the map working OK except none of the characters will show up as I don't have the right fonts or something.

Anyone know how to get the japanese characters showing?

For me, I got this map to work by using the Taiwan version of GMXT which can be found in Ipmart. Just conduct a search. This is because this map uses Kanji which is the same as Taiwan's Chinese fonts (traditional Chinese).

Or you can try adding these files into your existing mobile phone's Garmin folder. Not sure if this will work but if it does, you'll see the the words 'TW' at the end of the Garmin version

1) Unzip & add the attached 'GMSUP' file into E:\Garmin\Apps\Symbian\Res located in your phone.
2) Unzip & add the attached 'Chinese' file into E:\Garmin\Font located in your phone

Good for you!!:excited:

FYI, the latest version is v.5.00.00 whereby the interface GUI is new. You can find this version posted by Monyozt at:

Alternatively, you can get this new version directly from Garmin's website:

Each of the above methods has it advantages & disadvantages. But for me personally, I prefer to get it from Garmin's website directly as I already have a previous version installed.

It would be best to uninstall your existing version + delete the existing Garmin folder in your phone first. However, do remember to first save all your maps, UNL files for SW & maps, GMSUP (if applicable), POI file, Voice file, GPX file & Vehicle file somewhere else and transplant it back to the new Garmin folder after the installation. After that, conduct the installation process via the GarminMobileXT.sis file. It worked well for me.

Thanks, I've tried version 5 but it seemed to be very buggy so I'll wait until 5.00.10 or whatever comes out.

I too faced the 'buggy' effect when I installed it over the current version. However, when I tried again after uninstalling what I had first, it worked fine.

IMHO.
