Sweet, been waiting for this for a long time. I'm following the excellent guide, however I still have trouble connecting to my bluetooth gps unit.

I can start the Garmin PC program after creating the SW.UNL inputing my DEVICE ID and using keygen v1.5.

When searching for my GPS unit selecting the serial port the program searches and searches but finds nothing. The weird thing is that other GPS programs can find it, also NRoute and Destinator and Sygic PC.

I have also tried Franson GPSGate but still cant get it to work. I do belive with the Garmin Mobile XT using the first keygens created an key that worked but was causing problems with connecting to other bluetooth gps units than Garmin original.

;(

First time poster, newbe. Downloaded the GMPC from above site. It installed ok, following instructions. Already have Mapsource installed with a n america (I think unlocked ok) and a free open unlocked map of New Zealand. Was able to use mapsource to transfer some map files from both to the GMPC....said successful transfer. But I dont see any maps in GMPC. Any help would be appreciated!

I thought I had the map. I dont. It still doesnt import the map from mapsource to GMPC. I do not have a gps detector plugged in yet. Would that screw it up?

Hi, I finally solved my problems. Without needing all those GPSgate, and other virtual coms programs. I installed Virtual Serial Port ActiveX Control from Elitima software. This program can DELETE all virtual ports. After this I deleted all of my old and new connected bluetooth items. After this I connected my Bluetooth GPS unit Royaltek RT-1000 and it connected to Com6. Then I started Garmin Mobile PC and selected Serial Com6 and VOILA! Now it works. In my case it was problems with the Com ports so now I can say that the keygen 1.5 works perfect. Also if you use the garmin unlocker utility you dont need to create any *.SWL files for the IMG files.

I think that the PC version is graphic nice but SLOOOW. Its only like 5fps or something. I have an XT7900Pro 512 MB card and it lags a bit. Anyone else have this?

Follow up to map problems...Finally got all the maps working:thanks: to jm and all!

I have a Delorme Earthmate GPS usb. It is not blue tooth capable. My GMPC appears to be unlocked. All maps working great. Am able to import all sorts of stuff from mapsource.

In the GPS settings in GMPC there are options for usb or com ports. The usb setting could not find the GPS. So I went to Delorme and they had software to convert usb to serial to ports. I configured the GPS to port 5, NMEA, and the GMPC to port 5---still did not work.

And the GPS was happily finding sat's and getting a good gps signal with the delorme converter working.

Are there different ways of unlocking the s/w of GMPC?

Any help or suggestions appreciated!

lanangjalang,... try and delete ALL ports using the program Virtual Serial Port ActiveX Control from Elitima software. Try also to go to device manager and delete ALL bluetooth serial ports, if there are any left. Then try and ONLY connect your bluetooth GPS device. Pair up and then try and start GMPC. Choose settings GPS and serial port. I hope it works for you. This was my only solution since in the beginning I went crasy but tried on another PC and then all the hardware worked fine. So in the end its an WINDOWS error for me....

Few notes about this software (5.00.10g)
It's crash when in serch field used national character from my language (estonia)
Can be used *.img names gmapbmap.img, GMAPSUP2.IMG, GMAPSUPP.IMG (maybe somthing more) and serch function works on all of them (of course, if map searchable)
If search city name, it can find city ~500 km from your locations and if no GPS, it puts your location to somewhear in USA.

My GMPC would not recognize my bluetooth GPS either. I just used my BT manager, removed the com port used by X10, deleted the X10 from the connection list, restarted my computer and told BT manager to add new device. Now GMPC recognizes the X10 and locks on satellites. (Mine is using com 41 BTW)

Now a stupid question. I can not get the GMPC to load maps. I ran a unlocker on all the garmin maps. I also have mapsource and mapinstaller. What have I missed?

I was able to get everything working on my Sprint PPC 6800 and I thought I was so smart.
Thanks in advance

Thanks to all who answered and yes I had done both of them.

BTW that is the only time I was able to get GMPC to use/access my X10 and get a satilite lock. So I restored my computer to the restore point I set prior to installing GMPC. This was just to furstrating at that time.

I decieded to try again today. Well all the maps are there. YEA. At this time this is what GMPC is doing when it is not satified with its BT search for the GPS:
Garmin GPS 10X #8BB6C
GPS Unit ID: Unknown
This is in the top left corner of the screen. Then in the center of the screen is another window that says:
Could not authenticaticate Garmin GPS hardware
with an "OK" button

What have I missed
Oh well I guess I go back to reading also

Hello to all, I have a big problem with the antenna gps!
Antenna Cellular-line BTGPS440 + HP Notebook with integrated Bluetooth.
I tried in all ways but Garmin Mobile PC does not see the antenna. I tried with the search for bluetooth device, I tried with the virtual serial port but nothing.
The PC sees the antenna port COM10 and I could not rename other ports (COM 5 or COM6) I tried to reset the virtual ports deleted but I always paired with COM10.

Can you help? Thank you. (excuse for English)

Hi guys I live in Greece.

The software installed fine on my laptop and it has no problem to work with my external GPS.

I put the Greek language voice files from my symbian phone and it worked as I expected. I also put inside the greek map with the Greek character Set and all the letters appear normal.

My problem is when I change the language of the Keyboard from english to greek nothing is written in the fields. i.e the cursor doesn't move whatever I type in greek.

There are some XML files with the program languages. I tried to change the codepages there 8859-1 to 8859-7 with no luck. Also if you change the phrases of the interface (for example "Where to?") you don't get the correct letters.

Any help or ideas??

Once the key is generated and copied to the garmin folder via notepad as per the instructons state, does this activate the software?

I have an ebay 44 channel USB GPS that I will be using with my car pc and the software says it cannot connect to this software unless it has been activated.

What have I done wrong or is there another step I'm missing?

@flyguy,
Better to install fresh, save all your unlock key and map to another folder then uninstall old version and install newer version on it. Just transfer back the key and map it should work perfectly. As i already tested to install over the older version it gave me some problem on viewing map and hang.

Hi Gurus... very nice work on the unlocking. I now have Australian map data on my overseas purchased GPS :-)

I've managed to get Mapsource working fine, but I can't seem to get the GMPC side of things right. I must admit I'm using a Garmin GPS V with a serial connection and the first question I have is "do I have a hope"?

If GMPC can be made to work using serial, I then ask "will GMPC allow you to access the map view screens even if the GPS isn't communicating"? If not, I guess that's the problem!

One thing that's common to all my GMPC install attempts is that if you use Mapsource to look at the the Device ID of GMPC, it is always "0" (only). The Settings / About method provides a number which I can generate an unlock from... it just doesn't seem to work :-(

I am wondering if I need to delete some registry keys or folders which have bad data in them from all my attempts, which were as close to the instructions as I could manage. I've pretty much frustrated myself with it tonight, but I'd be immensely appreciative if someone can shed light on what I am doing wrong.

Many thanks,
Steve.

Just in a case, if anybody trys add second map (gmapsup2.*) with unl file first time and get access code ... and so on
It's strange, but first time, before you activated it, map file name (and serial) must be gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp.unl and after activating it, that files can be renamed to gmapsup2.*

hello all,

need some newbie help...

i manage to install the garmin mobile PC 5.00.30 fine in my pc... i follow the unlock for the JMGARkey...

the questions, come when i try to view the map Singapore_Malaysia NT v301 through the program... i started a 'Garmin' folder inside C:\GarminMobilePC\

C:\GarminMobilePC\Garmin folder contains gmapsupp.img, gmapsupp.unl, sw.unl (i copied this files directly form my downloaded zip file and paste it in the folder)

Am i doing the wrong thing cause i can't browse/view the map in the program..?

thanks in advance...

First of all, you need to be sure that the sw.unl and gmapsupp.unl (or whatever *.unl) is set.
Then you need to have basemap, otherwise the first time you run the application, you will get blank. GMPC somehow positioned itself in UK as a start point, so in order to have your location (in this case Singapore) as a start point, you have to pair your GPS device. This way, whenever you run GMPC, your last fix position will be a start point.

..or install also world basemap (gmapbmap.img) and you can browse map without gps.

01. Install Garmin MobilePC using MAIN.msi
02. Run MobilePC
03. Choose "Yes" (Did this purchase of Garmin Mobile PC include a Garmin GPS receiver)
04. Choose "Done"
05. Choose "OK"
06. Choose "Skip"
07. Choose "Yes"
08. Choose "I Agree"

Hi mate, I also didn't find any 8 digit code when I installed mine, so I forgot about it and use the device Id instead. If you look into Tools>Setting>About you will see device ID there. Use this to generate your key.

Hope this help. :good2:

Check first if u got the connection between PC and GPS (SPP profile).
For UK u could use CNEURO 2009 NT (V11)

It can work with internal gps or any gps receiver when you get sw.unl with a correct device ID. Just follow the "instruction.txt" on the 1st page....

Hi dtbogor...if you haven't found the solution to transfer your waypoint to GMPC, you may want to try this method.

I just upgraded my Mapsource to version 6.13.7 and used it to transfered all my waypoint from GMXT in my HTC pda to GMPC using the "Received from device" (from GMXT in HTC pda connect via usb cable) in Mapsource software and than used the "Send to device" to transfer all my waypoint to GMPC.

Now all my waypoints is shown in GMPC Favorites....

All you have to do is Run *.MSI file not the Setup file. Follow the instruction and you'll be right.

Question about NT maps: I download the Garmin and use the Keygen to generate Serial number for Garmin, that's fine but it seem doesn't have any Australia NT map 2009 in it (the keygen) --> cannot generate serial for the Map itself. I'm thinking about newer version of keygen, is it the 1.5 the latest keygen at the moment guys??? Why it doesn't have Aussie NT? Only America NT 2009.

Anyway, I downloaded a Melbourne map NT 2009 (claimed unlocked already) and put the "gmapsupp.img" file into Garmin folder and it doesn't show anything on the main navigating screen!!! BUT Browsing Map is showing the Map!!! :afraid: ----> wth is going on? Is this version of Garmin compatible with NT 2009 map version???

Any help welcome.:urtheman:

Hi all, don't know what I'm doing wrong but I cannot get any maps to work. on the laptop.

Have the latest europe maps and the usa maps from the posts. have updated my nuvi and so know that the maps do work on the nuvi.

Have installed the software and works great, picks up my usb GPS-360 (which came with ms maps & streets software).

The program tells me that the maps created with MapSource (unlocked thanks to JetMouse). Cannot be used with my device id.

Have tried the instructions on front post. deleted and reinstalled the software used regedit to ensure nothing left in registry.

I have the Garmin 860 nuvi but this is updated etc on my main sys so no way that it can be getting the codes confused with the laptop.

Out of ideas. Any help greatly appreciated.

Your question is out of topic.
GPS device cannot get enough signal if you are in a building. Go outdoor and check again. The GPS software you should use is Mobile XT, not Mobile PC.

Thx.

Just few quiestions.

First it was a drag which at frist seemed like childs play comparing to XT version install for N96...but boy was I wrong...

I have HP6820, and for some reason after first install on logical drive D: device got recognized once and than MapSource or MapInstall could not read out the device ID (to mention I mistook when first installed and clicked trial), but reading took me to erase files in root://Docum and ...**/GarminMobile PC removed folder repeated procedure but no way. Had to format and partition Logical drive D in order for Mapsource to read out device new created disck.

Followed the instructions to word several times, but the prob is that Mapsource does not want to download/upload into device selected maps. Info: all maps are unlocked regions with needed codes for GMPC?? When I got to loading all went OK up until 60% - 90% depending on mapset and than I get message that operation is canceled koz of communication with device??

I have gmapsupp which I found as freebase map, and managed to get Adria as whole gmapsupp, but problem remains EUROPE koz it would needed to be whole which would be a drag for loading (I presume).

Questions
1. Does or will MapSource find device and not report error if I connect GPS BT which I bought today and still charging (SiFR STAR III)...?Meaning manage to upload to PCdevice since obviously one for XT would not work, koz of different unlock codes and I dunno how to create gmapsupp and appropriate unl file, as I asid MapSource would not create *.img file without device. Please if anny suggestions I appreciate it alot (PM or..)

2. Can some1 confirm that new version work, according to instructions, as one .50

TBH I thought at first it is some virus or something, despite protections which I have. Did some1 find or see anything? Maybe it is just my paranoia kicking in agan :hahaha2:

Hi all, I tried to post earlier but something went wrong, hey its Vista any surprise?

I don't usually have any problems with installs (when I remember to read the instuctions properly!!) and this time I did read and follow instuctions perfectly BUT GMPC keeps telling me it can't use my device ID (the one it has given me!!) to unlock the maps? I don't understand whats going on as I have definatately done everything ver batim but it wants to be difficult!

Any ideas at all please and thanks.

Edit...well I have got it to work perfect on my car puter with no trouble at all, it just doesn't want to work on this laptop. Will try again might have a clue where I went wrong.

Edit 2 OK I was right where I went wrong so both puters now running GMPC perfectly with my Qstarz bluetooth receiver. Thanks for the upload, really appreciated and running Aus 2009 maps...woohoo!!

yes u can use ur ppc/mobile as an external gps reciever..
pair with ur laptop/pc & use with garmin on the go.

u'll need GPS GATE download from the forum, but its only for windows mobile
for symbian there must be other services, check out in symbian section.

how to configure.. you can have a look here
