pls help me. i just got new toshiba portege. i installed winxp sp2. it is very slow when i click on My Computer. it took me few minutes to show the drives. but once i ve browsed it, it is fast as normal. so can u help me how to make My Computer browe faster? thanks before hand

it's hard to say what the problem. maybe too much app running in background. or maybe caused by antivirus software.
try go to task manager, see what app is running, if u found app that;s not needed running in background. disable it.

yes, blue_ray. i checked it and everything seems to be okay. however it s strange for me too that when i clicked on My Computer it s browsing very slow. if any other friends experienced this, pls help! or update windows can help?

If u desktop pc and laptop is slow n u r facing problem then install system mechanics & O&O defrag thro system mechanics remove junk files n all unnecessary startup item spyware etc after removing all this restart pc/lappy the by O&O drfrag defrag u r hdd by space defrag u will c u r pc /lappy 10 times faster than earlier

Yeah... It does seem strange as my laptop which has specs of the 1st pc ever made runs very fast...
All i can suggest is...:
1. Disable any services/start-up apps/processes that boot up when your pc loads
2. Defrag your pc
3. Clean all temp files
4. Scan for viruses/spyware etc
5. Check to see if your AV actually is making your pc slow
6. When your PC has booted up, check all the processes in task manager...

Also it could be a hardware problem, or the fact your OS copy really is useles...
