hello friends. i ve a 40gb removable harddrive. in my computer, i right clicked it in order to format it. however i cannot see the file system type (NTSF or FAT32) at all. why? pls help me... i successfully formated it in disk management but when i want to format again in my computer, i cannot see the file system type.

Did u try formating the hardisk from the Dos command

Try it and check it whether any error is been showed if u r mentioning the type

Xhtml is the Drive format is not showing only for your External drive or for other drive's also

could be your enclosure.

which xp are you using? by default, it will format that to ntfs. if you want to format to fat then use dos format x: /FS:Fat

or use partition manager.
