you can use norton ghost to create an image of the hard drive and whenever you want to recover your laptop and put it to the state it was when you create the image ...

Sorry to ping in

as per papa told better do in the DVD cds itself the Dvds count will be based on the complete data size since u r saying 7 gb it may take 1 to 2 dvds and the Norton will ask u to insert the empty DVD when needed and do and the data will be backed up which u can able to restore when it is needed

Cheers

I think you can make it bootable with Norton Ghost, since it copies the whole OS and anything else in the HDD... If not there are plenty of copies of, well just about all OS's in this forum...

thank u. i m really stuck now with Norton Ghost 14. i tried to back up drive C. then when i tried to recover they ask sth like norton CD cos my OS is running or sth!

Well, i d like to extend a bit more. Is it a good idea kind like I start up my laptop with Windows Live then I copy all files to DVDs. then next time when i want to restore, i just start up my laptop with Windows Live again then copy all files to drive C. then can I have the laptop restore to the time when I copied it?

Pls help if you hv experienced it. thanks u

it take alot of dvd's
go for the extra harddisk
can be inernal or externel
it's at least much faster

i don't what that is
i use a 200gb internal harddisk where i copy the files i want to keep
so i can format/reinstall on Cdrive whenever i want
